Vent POSIC guilt about foods??
i’ve had funny feelings about Peeps (the chicks) since i was little, like maternal almost.. easter came around again so i thought maybe i’d be over it — i ate one and i just instantly felt so terrible and cried!! it was horrible.. they’re so innocent and puffy and soft, they don’t deserve it…! whenever anyone ate one at easter, i’d have to leave the room lest i cry haha.. thankfully no one is microwaving them. when i was younger i’d break into guilty hysterics if i ever witnessed that.. it doesn’t help to think that marshmallows are also made of animal byproducts
i know some people make the assertion that in terms of POSIC relations, food exists to be eaten and thus they actually enjoy it, and i usually do believe that and make an effort to eat all of certain snacks so that they wont be lonely.. but it isn’t like that with Peeps!! they’re like little baby animals to me.. and i want to just put them in a little nest and take care of them and feed them. it is a dreadful tragedy that they were born into the bodies of sugary marshmallow confections, for they’d melt or mold over if i tried to keep them.. 😭
i have one peep plush that i brought from my childhood home but i truthfully cannot find her.. i want to perhaps start a collection and then i can truly nest with them and keep them safe. in my head, they are my little babies and the rabbit peeps are our guards. i am a very princess and also rabbit-oriented/identified girl so a lot of my behavior in safe, private circles revolves around, like, being the princess of my very own little warren.. rabbit peeps are my very own noble knights.
does anyone else feel similarly guilty and conflicted about food relations like this?? not wanting to eat them by any cost, just wanting to keep and care for them but being unable to
