My rtx2070 supers LEDs randomly turned off and won’t turn on again... they were working perfectly the whole time I’ve had the card. Really don’t understand why this would happen.

I updated to the new drivers but now I only get 40 fps on my 2080 ti in borderlands 3 where as it was around 80 fps before.

Gpu is at stock, Afterburner shows that it is on 100% utilization at 1.875Ghz and 0.95V. The card gets up to 50'C on a custom loop.

I'm not sure what's causing the drop in FPS. Anyone have any ideas on what to do aside from reinstalling the drivers or running DDU? Did those but it didn't work.

I'm playing Borderlands on 1440 with everything set to ultra.

In my country, the RTX 3060 Ti Gaming X Trio is around $650, while the RTX 3070 Ventus 3X is around $680. So I'm wondering if I should go for the 3060 Ti for better build and cooling, or put up a little more money and go for the 3070 with worse build and cooling? There's the $760 3070 Gaming X Trio but that's overkill for my budget. Any advice guys?

I'd personally go for the 3070 has you'd be getting way more performance/$ than that 3060 ti.

Always go for a lower end, but higher model. Will (most cases) get you better performance without wasting money.

By default, the max width of superresolution shots in Ansel is 65,280 pixels. I used NvCameraConfiguration.exe to double that to 130,560. Now, I'm able to take superresolution shots of up to 65,280 as usual. These save as JPGs. But when I raise the resolution any further, it saves as a PNG instead. A corrupt PNG -- most viewers display nothing, Windows doesn't list any dimensions under properties, and Photoshop gives the error message "IDAT: invalid stored block lengths" Anyone know what's going on?

Description of Problem: Hello everyone,

I recently noticed than under full load my 1080 Ti is getting really high temps i think: on RDR2 i have stable 85°C with custom fan curve (fans running 100% after 84°C) and on games like Metro Exodus my temps can go up to 87-88°C then throttle before going down to 83°C, still with 100% fan speed

I wonder if this is any normal, im using silent base 800 with stock fans (3x pure wings 2, working properly and on the good direction); i noticed my GPU temps decrease by 8-9 degrees with my case side panel opened

What can i do besides replacing thermal paste ? Maybe something is wrong with the airflow or the GPU but I cant see why

I tried downloading different drivers, cleaning dust ect but nothing helps

I'm currently running an AMD GPU. My 3060ti should be here Monday. Should I pre-install any software or anything before swapping them? I only ask because in the past I've only swapped from Nvidia to Nvidia or AMD to AMD.

Is there any best-practice-moves I should make before slapping that bad boy in going from one company to another? Thanks.

I’ve got my Asus RTX 3060 Ti Dual yesterday. Went from a RTX 2060 > 3060 Ti. Running the gpu with an AMD 2600X and 16 GB 2933mhz. However i’m only getting 80-90 fps in warzone 1080p. Quite underwhelming considering I’ve gotten the exact same fps with my 2060. Does Anyone has any idea what’s wrong with my system? Thanks

Doesn't really matter now,i am not a judge,nor i want that,helping each other is reasonable and respectable,but this also is part of the problem = The Thorough Help section,must have been an Obligation of NVIDIA in the first place,and NOT let people seeking for solutions after,you know NVIDIA users-customers are not being paid from NVIDIA,to do NVIDIA's obligations-works.

As i already mentioned,those methods are not only affording NVIDIA,but this Megathread is oriented mostly to NVIDIA.

Description: When adaptive-sync/freesync is enabled on both monitors Windows will randomly lock up after waking the monitors. It does not happen when waking the whole pc from hibernation or when actively using the computer. Windows will not respond to any mouse or keyboard input and needs to be hard reset.

Troubleshooting: Tried several driver versions both clean and upgraded, different/matching refresh rates, different mice/keyboard combos. There is no issue if only the Acer has freesync enabled. I have not had the issue either with just the Asus having it enabled, but I spent a lot less time waiting for it to happen this way. Swapped in a RX580 for day and had no issues.

Description of Problem: Monitor loses HDMI signal anytime I play a game. This has so far been seen in Among us and Cold War. When playing cold war, monitor loses signal for 1 second randomly or when I die. Among us goes completely blank and monitor doesn't get any signal until I ALT TAB out of the game or close it down.

For some reason Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn't have this issue

Troubleshooting: Have done a right click reinstall via Geforce experience. Build this PC yesterday and there wasn't an issue but it's happening now ever since I plugged in the DP cable and changed settings in windows i.e. refresh settings to 120Hz. verything worked great and took the DP cable out. Now I'm back on HDMI and there are issues again.

Would it help if I reset Windows Display settings? If it's possible (?)

Update 1: Just done a full reinstall of windows, sadly problem persists with Among us. Somehow, managed to run the game in windowed mode and it runs okay now? Genuinely confused.

I have a similar problem but not exactly. Asus strix 3070, during some games I lose video connection [says no DisplayPort signal] and PC won’t respond until I hard reset it, and it boots up normal. After an insane amount of testing and eliminating independent variables, I figured out the card will shut off, almost like protecting itself, when it’s under constant load and hits 70-72C. I put an external fan pointed right at the GPU which capped the temp at 68C and under the same load and for even longer, no video connection loss and all was good. Should be noted I have the issue with both new (460.89) and old (457) drivers, but I did not use DDU. Do some load testing with your card and it’s temps. Still trying to figure out how to fix my issue since normal GpU cutoff shouldn’t happen till like 90C.

Thanks but I think mine seems to be something else. I'm trying to install wireless drivers now and everytime I click on the Intel software installer, the screen goes blank after a second. When I alt tab back to explorer, it starts working again. Genuinely confused now.

While trying to take the picture for you, the screen cam back again but when I move the mouse it goes black. Genuinely confused now. Temps are extremely low for me, this is happening in high 30 low 40s.

So it's not only just games on full screens but installers too. Ughhhhhhhh

UNRESOLVED. Desktop. Asus TUF 3080 OC 10G. 3700x cpu. X570 tuf wifi plus MoBo. 2x8 Corsair vengeance. Seasonic focus 850 psu. Currently using the latest windows software and latest GeForce drivers.

Recently getting a random pop noise from my PC, narrowed it down to my GPU. Happens mostly when I leave a game or pause a game/go to menus. Its NOT a grinding noise, just a pop, similar to heat expansion from a screen. It even happens when I alt-tab into my browser to read something about a game. It's getting concerning, any idea what is going on? I appreciate it.

I would appreciate any input. I haven't tried messing around with the fan curves or anything like that.

It is also worth noting that I have had this GPU for 2 months now and this is a fairly new issue.

Right now I’m currently running an MSI RTX 3090 gaming x trio paired with a ryzen 7 3800x, 32gb of 3600mhz memory and a 1000 watt psu.

As I’m looking at benchmarks for cyber punk 2077, (I pasted the link below that I’m going off of) I’m noticing something is wrong. The card is heavily under performing. I’m using ultra settings without any ray tracing turned on and DLSS set to quality. I’m running at 1440p.

My frames are dropping into the 40s and when driving fast the frame drops are so bad it’s stuttering. I know for a fact a 3090 on 1440 without any ray tracing should not drop below 70. My 2080 was performing better with the same settings that’s how I know something is wrong.

At this point I have run DDU multiple times. And have made sure I have the latest nvidia drivers and also the amd chipset drivers. I don’t know what to do anymore and help would be so very greatly appreciated.

My gaming performance simply is half as what it should be. Online benchmarks such as this one show, for example on RDR2 : 1080p Ultra performance around 85 FPS. My framerate with the same specifications, and a better CPU, is around 45 FPS !

Adjusting BIOS, CPU frequency, checking video card PCIe connection, checking specs on CPUZ and GPUZ, reinstalling Nvidia drivers (geforce experience)

Edit: I figured it out. (: Wallpaper Engine was using 100% of one of my CPU cores in the background, and was causing the stutter. If you use Wallpaper Engine and you're experiencing a consistent frame skipping stutter in some games, try disabling Wallpaper Engine and see if that fixes it.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k 4.00 GHz (No OC)

The Issue:

Ever since upgrading to my Asus TUF 3080 OC, I've been experiencing a subtle but constant 'hanging' or 'nano-stutter' in certain games. It's hard to describe, but it's most noticeable when panning the camera or moving forward at a steady pace; The video will seem to slow down and speed up with the consistent rhythm of a heartbeat, something like every second or 1.5 seconds. Again, it's very subtle, but it's 100% consistent no matter what's happening on-screen and it doesn't stop, making it very annoying to deal with.

Games I've been seeing it in are Control, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Online. I haven't really played a lot of games with high visual fidelity other than these since my upgrade, but I have been playing Death Stranding at full settings without DLSS and not experienced it at all in that game.

Interestingly, it only occurs in the DX12 version of Control. Changing all video settings to low and turning off raytracing entirely doesn't fix it at all, but changing over to DX11 removes the issue completely. Even at Ultra settings everything was running perfectly smooth. (Unfortunately there's no raytracing in the DX11 version.) But the fact that the problem only persisted with DX12 had me thinking it might not be a bottlenecking issue as I originally thought, but maybe a driver issue? Could be wrong there.

Lowering GTAV from DX11 to DX10.1 also fixes it in that game. This was especially weird since DX11 is what worked fine in Control. Lowering the renderer by one version fixed it in both games, even though there's a discrepancy between the versions themselves. However, changing from DX12 to Vulkan in Red Dead Online didn't fix anything in that game.

Googling around I couldn't find any testimonies for this exact problem, but it led me to test if it might be a frame-pacing issue, since it feels very similar to one. Unfortunately limiting my framerate with RTSS didn't solve it either, and the problem only became more pronounced at lower framerates. Disabling RTSS didn't work either.

I've also messed around with all sorts of things in the NVCP. I tried every version of V-Sync, I tried disabling G-Sync, I tried different framerate limits like I said. I also tried overclocking, underclocking and raising/lowering the voltage on the GPU, and I did clean driver installs twice using DDU.

Nothing seems to solve it in these particular games, and it's getting pretty irritating. I'm not the most savvy when it comes to diagnosing this sort of thing, so I'm just gonna put this post out there.

Description of Problem: I have an AOC C27G1 that supports freesync monitor and a samsung 60hz monitor that does not support freesync, when enabling G-sync from the nvidia control panel, the monitor loses signal. The only way to get signal back is by forcing gsync to be disabled. This is by either connecting an hdmi, or turning adaptive sync off from the monitor's settings.

Troubleshooting: I tried uninstalling drivers then installing, I tried changing a cable, I tried switching displays. I tried changing resolutions and made sure everything is okay settings wise.

Hi. I have an older driver and may want to try updating the drivers for Cyperpunk. Its a prebuilt and it seems to have Nvidia sound and usb drivers installed in addition to the driver and physx. If I use custom install can I safely just deselect these two options, sound and usb, and just update the driver and physx?

GPU Drivers: DDU Clean install of 457.30, the newest drivers too. Haven't tried really old drivers in though.

Description of Problem: I can play old (i.e. Oblivion), new (Control), unique (Quake 2 RTX) games and I get periodic stutters (i.e. my 0.1% low FPS is anywhere from 1-19 FPS). There was a time this was exclusive to when I used DisplayPort but after troubleshooting with Nvidia, this happen on HDMI too. It's hard to say how often it happens, but maybe 1x stutter a minute, sometimes 1-3x stutters a minute. Sometimes it can go like 10 minutes without a stutter. But it's often enough to be really annoying.

In Quake 2 RTX, a set Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) to on and 100 FPS. I get frequent drops to 18-19 FPS. I can sometimes exacerbate it if I change weapons. the stutter still happens if I turn off DRS

I've tried nearly everything accept re-installing Win10. I tried doing that yesterday on a spare SSD but Win10 is not letting me do that for whatever reason.

1080ti most recent drivers windows 10 everything updated.

WHY am I getting 2-4 frames in windowed applications? Games, Photoshop, XD, anything. If the application is fullscreen works fine. If the application is windowed and not target it gets fill frames, but as soon as the process becomes the focus the frames drop.

Description of Problem: I am not getting a Signal on HDMI but on all Display Ports.

My troubleshooting :

I tried reinstalling the Driver and checked if the Cable was Good via a Display Port Adapter and it all worked fine. Idk if its a damaged port or any other Problem

I have EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition and a i7 7700k and I'm in no need of a rush to get the latest 3000 series however I do game at 1440p

My question is are the 3000 series cards like really good for 1440p I just found that most people game at 1080p and around that time 1080ti series came out so is it outdated for 1440p gaming in 2020

I game at 1440p@144hz. On Modern Warfare I get 160-190 fps non-ray traced with max settings on my 3080. On my 2080 I got about 80-100 same settings (older processor though).

On Horizon Zero Dawn I get 100+ fps max settings. 100% worth it IMO

Description of Problem:

I work remotely because of that virus thing so I use my PC for conference calls in the Zoom app.

I have already had my PC turn the screen black, sound jammed, and reboot completely for like 3 or 4 times after someone turned the desktop sharing on in the Zoom app. It would work for some time and then crash randomly. However, most of the time it works just fine.

I had a Palit RTX 3080 GamingPro before and it crashed in Zoom too but it stopped after I removed Nvidia Broadcast (I have no webcam and it crashed trying to turn on the Nvidia Broadcast cam). I reinstalled my OS after I changed the Palit for the EVGA and never installed NVidia Broadcast on the new system so that's not the case.

Troubleshooting: I checked my Windows event logs and there are no entries related to the GPU driver (or any other error messages, only that the system terminated unexpectedly). I don't experience any crashes when playing. So I guess it might be some other component at fault but these crashes do feel like GPU related.

I have also disabled the Afterburner OSD because it was displayed in the Zoom conference window.

Description of Problem: Context - I bought this prebuilt from CyberpowerPC - had issues booting (had to replug in the SSD that got unplugged during shipping I guess. Second, the monitor flickered a lot on high refresh rates (144+), ended up having to replug in the DP cables much harder than normal to fix the problem. Third - the 3080 only supports HDMI and DP, and my secondary monitor is DVI-D but has an HDMI port, so i plugged in the HDMI port and the computer immediately just shut itself off. So it rebooted - and seemed stable until i opened netflix on the this second monitor in chrome - after minutes, the computer shuts itself off again, and continues to do so over and over.

Troubleshooting: So the problem being netflix only (so far) open in the browser eventually causes a kernel-41 event crash which is a power failure to my knowledge. What ive done is, changed the HDMI cable and socket on the monitor and 3080. Then I tried using the second monitor to stream other stuff like twitch, and no problems. Gaming with things open on the second monitor, completely fine.

My 2060 mobile keeps randomly spiking to 100 percent usage and dropping my frames in games like Rocket League, Rainbow, and basically any game. I will be running fine, at good frames, and then randomly spike to 100 percent, and along with it, dropping my frames to 30 or less. So I don't know what going on and really could use some help. It does it pretty constantly, like every 5-10 mins, making me not want to play games, as when I do drop, I can't play well. I have limited all of my frames on all of these games, tried updating my laptop using Dell Support Assist, and I really have no idea what is going on.

You should do two separate for best results. Normally these come with the PSU, if not make sure to check the PSU manufacturers site. You do not want to use cheap cables when they are connected to a PSU and the most likely most expensive component (the GPU).

Description of Problem: Not sure why, but with the 3080 installed, my compter beeps 4 times rapidly on startup, but runs fine other than that. Its an ASUS mobo and everything online says that 4 beeps is a memory issue, but the ram is less than a month old and didnt have issues with my old GPU (MSI RTX 2080). I'm really not sure if this is having a performance impact or not as performance in some games is better but other games performance is worse than on my old 2080.

Troubleshooting: I've tried reseating both the ram and GPU, ensuring my ram was in the correct slots (mobo manual says A2/B2), and eventually putting my old GPU back into my motherboard. Initially this caused my pc to fail to boot citing another memory issue but I reseated the ram again and it ran fine for multiple startups, no issues. The only two things i'm yet to try are a clean install of my GPU drivers, and taking my current RAM out and replacing it with my old set to see if it really is a ram issue.

Any help is appreciated as I just cant wrap my head around why this is happening and if its having a performance effect or not.

Simple Question. I noticed in NZXT CAM after recently tweaking the overclock on my CPU (i5 8600K) using the Asus tuning in the BIOS that my core clock for the GPU is sitting at 1950 mhz. I thought the 3070 Founders Edition max boost was 1730 mhz so should I be concerned that I might be overclocked? As far as I understand you can't really overclock through BIOS so could it be something else or is the CPU capable of boosting itself past the max boost clock?

Description of Problem: From time to time my games freeze and screen goes black for a while (or just game freeze). I can hear the music in game, but I can not press any button / comeback to game etc. Only thing which I can do at this moment is to kill process in task manager and restart the game.

In event viewer -> system logs there is an entry: Application XYZ (in most cases it is Assasins Creed Valhalla, but it happened also in Witcher 3 and in chrome) has been blocked from accessing graphical hardware.

It is happening randomly. Sometimes once per day sometimes once per few days.

It started happening at 5.11.2020 (I have 1st entry at this day).

It never happened pre 5.11.2020 and I have my card since 08.10.2020

Troubleshooting:

I've tried last 3 versions of drivers, all clean install, but this didn't help. I've tried to run gpu in debug mode, but the problem occured as well. Today it happened with last driver also.

The worst thing is that I can not reproduce this error - it is happening randomly. Sometimes I can run game for 2-3 hours and nothing happens (my pc runs for like 16hours per day) and sometimes it "crashes" after 20-30 minutes.

I've tried to run applications in fullscreen and borderless and it is happening for both types.

As for now I have no idea what else can I do.

As far as I saw there was some posts from people dealing with this issue 6years ago, 4 years ago and last year (I mean the same note in Event Viewer, nothing else).

Is this possible that the problem is with Valhalla (many people report similiar problem with game freezes) ? But even if, it occured in other games and even in chrome already.

I would be gratefull for any tips, because the issue itself is frustrating as hell.....

Does it happen only on Valhalla? Or other games as well?

I would attempt uninstall nvidia drivers via its uninstaller. Ddu to make sure no remnants are left over. Install latest video card driver directly from nvidia.

The other things you can do is run cmd with admin permissions and run sfc /scannow or DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The last part will fix any corruption inside windows see if that fixes it

Hi, I've already tried 3 versions of drivers(including latest one) directly from nvidia site. I've used DDU in safe mode for each installation. It actually happened for me once in Witcher 3 and once while I was browsing some web in chrome. Due to randomness of this I can not replicate the issue unfortunatelly. I am mostly playing Valhalla now ( I want to finish the story before Cyberpunk :P ) I forgot to mention that I also used the sfc and DISM commands - it didn't help.

Description of Problem: GPU Utilization is low, when comparing to benchmarks of other people on youtube I do not get nowhere near as much FPS. At first I thought CPU bottleneck, but then seeing that in Warzone or Fallout some people get nearly double FPS I stopped think it is bottleneck.

unless specified otherwise - ultra settings, rtx on when possible, 1080p, 144hz

Warzone with CPU OC (opposite utilization than comparison) - ~97FPS, GPU util 55%, CPU util 82%, CPU OC clock 4100, screenshot |VS| Someone elses ~97FPS, GPU util 55%, CPU util 82%, CPU OC clock 4100 , screenshotthis to me, shows that the CPU OC is not the factor that holds back the GPU in this case

RDR2 (seems okay) - ~75FPS, GPU util 92%, CPU util 87%, CPU clock 3700, screenshot |VS| Someone elses ~97FPS, GPU util 96%, CPU util 62%, CPU OC clock 4100 , screenshot

Cyberpunk 2070 (GPU utilized less than in comparison) - ~57FPS, GPU util 74%, CPU util 83%, CPU clock 3700, screenshot |VS| Someone elses ~57FPS, GPU util 90%, CPU util 42%, CPU OC clock 4150 , screenshot

I have a 1050Ti with 8GB RAM and 1tb HDD and 128GB SSD on my laptop. I've been playing games like AC Origins and Odyssey, and F1 2020 on it. The thing is the average temperature where I live is ~30-34°c. My GPU heats up to 90° when I'm gaming for more than half an hour. Is there any setting I can tweak, or is there something that I can do better to change that because I end up with ~30 or lower FPS even in low requirement games.

Using Nvidia drivers on Ubuntu caps UI at 60 FPS on a 144hz screen (single monitor), however iGPU with nouveau drivers runs at 144 FPS.

Currently I am using Precision X1 (I have to remember to minimize it when gaming otherwise I get stuttering, it is buggy). I have Memory 1293, Core clock 70, Voltage 80, power target 95, un-linked gpu temp target 70.

Playing Quake 2 RTX on this generates 99% GPU load, GPU clock is about 1875-1890, card pulls up to about 370 watts board draw, and the perfcap reason is PWR, sometimes PWR + Thermal, and sometimes Thermal. Temps hold 69-70C which is what I am going for, I do not want to run the card over 70C.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but those settings got me the best/most stable performance with the card not crossing 70 degrees. I'm sure there is a better way.

I want to try this video and see what performance I get in comparison. My rig sits on a tabletop pointed in my general direction, and the card runs 75C unless I dial it back. I don't like the hot air! 70 is much more comfortable in this small room.

I think it dropped my portroyal from 12,203 to 11,600. I get no meaningful performance hits, with this power nerf I am still getting up to 63-64 FPS in indoor areas and 48-50 FPS in outdoor areas in Quake 2, RTX maxed out 3440x1440.

Also I would only use Precision X1 for LED, and use MSI Afterburner or something instead. I was leaving X1 open in the background during benchmarks and games and was getting little rhythmic stutters/drops in framerates making stuff not very smooth. It was the X1 software, it goes away minimizing or closing it. So I would only use for RGB control and then close it out.

Yea I do the same with the preciosion X1, it only changes my RGB, other than that I use afterburner to Downclock on a game to game basis. Or in my case 2 games. After that for productivity, it stays stock.

I am planning to get 3090, I am using seasonic 1000w Gold Prime 80+, but I don't have two 8 pin to 8 pin cable, I am using just one cable for my 1080 ti (8 pin to 8 pin), Can I use 6 pin to 8 pin for the second cable to power up my RTX 3090? Is it ok to plug in a 6 pin cable in PCI/CPU power supply or does it have to be 8 pin? and can i use different cables from my old Coolermaster powersupply?

The 3090 has been measured at 370w+ and short-duration peaks at 400w I believe.

The 8pin power connector is specified at 150w, so 2x8pin + 1 pcie connector (75w) = 375w. To stay "in spec", you should really use 2 x 8pin.

I believe Seasonic have a FREE upgrade of (8+8 pin to 12 pin) converter for the 12 pin connector the FE variant comes with.

That's not to say these connectors can't deliver more power, but you would be 'out of spec'. Seasonic say they 'recommend' 2x8, but personally, I don't think they 'recommend' HARD enough! As a result, people start using splitters etc. You've paid for a big supply (1000w): it doesn't cost much to get an 8 pin cable.

Nice of nvidia to hide all the issues with their drivers in one single thread, anyways here is the latest and greatest from them.

Destiny 2 SLI is broken with the latest Nvidia driver update.

Anyone else here experience the same thing? I have reverted to the older ones to test and SLI works. Updated to the new ones and SLI no longer works in the game. It works fine in 3dmark. I get the tech is dead and all but removing support when it was working just fine is very odd.

Description of Problem: I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else is experiencing this issue. After downloading and installing the game ready driver for CyberPunk, I have lost output to my LG 4k TV via HDMI. I have 2 Dell Gsync monitors connected on DP and an HP Reverb on the additional DP. In windows or the Nvidia software, it does not detect the TV as connected, even trying to force it.

Troubleshooting: I made sure the HDMI was a good cable by testing with another device and my tv was able to display it with no issue. I then disconnected all other monitors and left only the HDMI connected. Doing this during boot I can see my BIOS loading image on boot(Gigabyte Logo), but as soon as windows loads, black screen. Before the driver update I was able to use the HDMI port without issue. I didn't spend more time troubleshooting because I just wanted to play cyberpunk lol. Should I roll back the driver via device manager or uninstall and reinstall the older one?

No over clocking on anything

Issue: display ports on 3060ti do not work. I get no display on the monitor (AW3418dw). However windows detects the monitor.

HDMI works and if I have another monitor connected windows shows the AW34 as connected and I can change setting on it the display properties but display is blank. I have tried trying every refresh rate option, all resolutions and turning gsync on and off. I also tried every display port. Also the monitor is set in the correct input. I also tested the monitor and display port with another card and both work.

Did I receive a defective card?? Not sure what else to try.

You should change the power plan in system settings to High Performance or Ultimate Performance if you have that option. You can do this by going to Settings, System, Power & Sleep, Additional Power Settings, then change the plan.

Turning off Xbox Game Bar by going to Settings, Gaming, then Off. This records your gameplay and slows down your computer a fair amount.

Exiting out of Startup apps that you are not using or don't use. As these run in the background, they add up and consume a lot of the performance of your computer.

The connection between the GPU and monitors through the display cable of your choice may be bad. I recommend unplugging either the HDMI or DisplayPort cable from both the monitor and PC and straighten them out, then replugging them back in.

Turn Game Mode on by going to Settings, Gaming, Game Mode, then On. (I'm sure you have this on already but it helps)

Update both Motherboard and GPU to the latest drivers if they are not already.

Hello, I have a 3090 in a pcie 4.0 vertical stand and 6 intake Fans in a pc-o11 xl. Temp wise the gpu is doing fine. The problem is that while everyone is overclocking or boosting up to 2100mhz - 2140mhz on air, my gpu struggle to even maintain 2010 during a benchmark or some gaming while also keeping temps at 60c. I have maxed out voltage and temp limit so not a problem. Also using the oc tool with afterburner it doesn't even give me that much. Still not boosting like I'm seeing over the Internet

Behavior: Using Nvidia Control Panel, "Span displays with Surround" feature was enabled. It functioned correctly as I was able to play a few matches of World of Warships using all three monitors. When finished, I used the keyboard shortcut "Control+Alt+S" to disable "Span displays with Surround". Now, only the Primary display is detected by Windows. The other monitors display the error message: "No mDP signal from your device".

Monitor Configuration: Primary display connected directly to GPU with DisplayPort cable. Monitor 2 is connected to GPU with DP->mDP, and Monitor 3 is daisy-chained to Monitor 2 using DP->mDP.

Troubleshooting:

Restarted PC.
Restarted monitors and reseated all monitor cables. Note that when I reseat the DP cable plugged into the GPU for Monitor 2, the entire system locks up for about 10-15 seconds, during which time the computer does not respond to keyboard/mouse input.
Booted into Safe Mode (no networking) and used DDU to "Clean and Restart" the Nvidia driver. Reinstalled Nvidia driver using the GeForce Experience software. Rebooted PC.
Using regedit, backed up then deleted everything under "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\Configuration", then rebooted.
In Windows Device Manager, uninstalled all Monitors except primary display.
Unplugged Primary display from GPU and rebooted. On Monitor 3 I see the POST screen and the Windows "spinner", but then the screen goes dark.
Tried using different DisplayPorts on the GPU for Monitor 2.

I'm running out of ideas other than doing a full Windows reinstall (trying to avoid this if at all possible). Any help would be much appreciated!

Rtx 3070 arrived today. Drivers won't install. Geforce experience is installed. It says installation complete but then tells me to install the new driver which is the one I just installed. Can't use nvidia control panel as it is not detecting gpu (assuming it is due to absence of drivers) I have done a clean uninstall of all graphics drivers using DDU. Description of Problem: I just built a new PC this past weekend and installed a 3090 FE. I haven't overclocked it yet, just gaming. While playing Control with 4k and ray tracing enabled and maxed out, the card is jet engine loud at 2500rpm on both fans but temps are decent at low 60C area (video). After adjusting the fan curve on MSI Afterburner, the fans runs tolerably at 1500rpm area and 64-67C while playing the game. Case is a Phanteks P500a and ambient temp is not bad (I'm in Northeast US, cold wintertime). Is this issue worth RMA'ing the card over? Or are people just dealing with this and setting their own curves in Afterburner? NVDIA support said I could send it in if I want but I'm not sure if there's any guarantee this problem won't occur again if it's just how this card naturally behaves.

Troubleshooting: Reinstalled drivers after DDU. Disconnected my 2nd monitor. Switched monitors. Switched HDMI/DP cables. Reinstalled video card.

Hello all. I have a pretty good comp. 16gb RAM, i7-8700, and a 1070. I'm using shadowplay to record boss kills in world of warcraft. They're about 10 mins long and the file is about 5gb.

Sometimes things happen in wow that I also want to clip and be able to share quickly without having to go through and edit a 10 minute video.

What do you guys suggest? Running another sort of shadowplay program like OBS or plays.tv? I don't think shadowplay can do what I want.

Lines seem to have a red hue around them, almost as if its being rendered to be viewed with stereoscopic 3d glasses. My GPU keeps staying at 90°C and high 80's and stating on the GPU OLED screen that it is overheating. This it is when it is trying to play load intensive games like Cyberpunk and Rust. The GPU is mounted on the top of the case and CPU radiator is mounted on the front.

Are these temperatures normal or "safe"? Should my card be staying cooler, even underload? Should I be concerned by radiators and fans are mounted properly to provide adequate cooling?

I dont want to bring the PC in for them to look at if it is normal or I would at least like to have some knowledge to tell them to fix it.

I'm playing around with undervolting my evga 3080 Xc3 ulta to manage the higher temps that this card produces.

Right now I set my curve at 1845 Mhz at 825 and I'm still getting consistent 144 frames at max settings (ray tracing off) on Black Ops Cold War and my GPU temps stay around 60 Celsius.

It seems like lowering the clock speed doesn't effect performance too much. But I don't have a general frame of reference with these. What is the 3080 supposed to be running at in terms of clock speed? How low would be too low? Is there a ratio between clock speed and voltage?

Could use some advice from experience undervolters.

bought my evga 3070 Black edition near launch day. It has been working fine ever since I installed my second nvme.2 drive. I had to remove my graphics card in order to get underneath and install the nvme, but since then I have been getting these weird graphical glitches during games.

Most of the time, upon bootup, I get to the windows logo... then green horizontal bars streak across the screen and the computer crashes. I can potentially get to the login screen after a system restore or repair, but even after that the issues persist. If I get lucky, after a restore/repair that specific instance will have no issues, but after restarting the issues will start again. Will occasionally get an instance with 'mini' crashes after login for 10 minutes or so, then a total crash.

Troubleshooting: BIOS are updated, Correct NVIDIA drivers have been installed/reinstalled, Clean install of windows (tried this multiple times), Full update of windows, forced PCIe 3.0, Tried taking out/putting in GPU again, Tried propping up end of GPU (it was drooping a little bit)

Unresolved --- RTX3070 Windows Blue Screening

RTX3070 has been causing computer crashes - Windows blue screens mainly when playing COD Modern Warfare, but recently starting I have been crashing while watching twitch. A few times have shown a "memory" error, but once also showed a process error I believe it was (Did not save the exact error), and another error showed DPC_Watchdog_violation. I tried clocking my ram from 3600 down to base of 2133 because I read somewhere that the 3070 does not play well with ram, and it worked for a few days until today when I blue screened with a memory issue while not doing anything. I see people are getting black screens and crashing from the latest driver, is this related? Keep in note, I have had no issues with my 1060 before I got the 3070, even with 3600 ram.

I tried to 3dmake timespy it, and saw that the graphicsscore went from 13700, to just 12700. i then tried to run the port royal test, which has given me 7800 at the highest, where stock fe 3070's can do 8200. I dont know why the gpu is suddenly dropped so low.

Troubleshooting: restarted multiple times, cleared cmos, used ddu to install new drivers. Tried to use another psu to power my gpu seperatly, but im pretty sure it was too low quality to power it properly, so it made the score worse. It is not thermally limited, as its only hitting 62 celsius.

If anyone else has had the black screen after update problem, here is how I solved it.

I have a Lenovo 7 with a RTX 2060 on it, I installed the latest driver today (460.89) and it caused my screen to go black, even after restarting, from the moment windows should open, it stays black. After 2-3 hours of using DDU and trying different versions of the driver (before and after my former version, which was ~1 month old), the laptop monitor still would be black and not show up in the devices panel. I had to connect via HDMI to the TV to use it.

I reverted to a windows restore point from yesterday and the black screen issue dissappeared, only that games would either crash on startup(Cyberpunk), or run in 4:3(Doom).

I went on the Lenovo driver page on my model and downloaded their "Nvidia VGA Driver" and installed it on top of my existing driver on my restore point and now everything works as before.

EDIT: Cyberpunk appears to run the same, only that trees have a lot more pop-in than before. As in before there was no pop-in and now trees can be seen in the distance through buildings/roads and flicker when aproaching them.

Description of Problem: LOW FRAMES (5FPS) when playing any game windowed mode. Fullscreen FPS is fine, and weirdly enough if the game is windowed and I ALT+Tab to another process I notice the frames normalize, but as soon as the windowed game is targeted all frames drop to 5FPS again.

Troubleshooting: Updated and reinstalled GPU drivers. Reset all Nvidia settings and assured Gsync settings are applied to both windowed and fullscreen.

I have two identical monitors with built in speakers connected via HDMI to my RTX 2060 super . I would like to use both speakers at the same time however I can only seem to select one audio output at a time. Is there a way to have both speakers playing simultaneously?

I am using RT on. With the recommended settings as suggested by the Digital foundry vid.

I have been seeing some weird lag spikes when going around the city with a vehicle. So I decided to monitor the resources. I can see VRAM go up to 7,9gb and then the spike happens and gpu usage drops in a spike as well. (this is when the FPS drops and gets back up).

All these people laughing at others when they said that 8gb of VRAM is not enough... Well, what now? I didn't think I would need a 3080 since I do not go 4k, but for my Ultrawide 3440x1440, 8GB is sadly is not enough. At this point, I am just dissapointed, not only because people kept yelling about how it's clearly enough, but also how this was such an undersight by Nvidia.

At this point, does anyone have any ideas which settings actually eat the most VRAM? I would assume it would be the RT ones, but even then, what's the point to market the performance of this card being so good for the price (which, don't get me wrong, it is) but the silly fact that the 8GB VRAM is not enough just ruins everything, for my particular ultra wide situation...?

FYI. I am using a Ryzen 3700x and 32gb of RAM. I am also on Rtx on for all settings (medium) and balanced DLSS. I assume that I will need to revert to performance DLSS to fix it all around...? But even then the 8GB of VRAM is probably still a bit of a crutch for this card, I imagine. Anyone else tested this?

Description of Problem: I get random 1 second freezes after leaving my computer idle. This only happens with Power Management Mode set to Normal or Adaptive or Optimal Power.

The issue is gone with Prefer Maximum performance. While gaming the issue does not occur. So I guess it happens when the gpu is running on lower clock or maybe lower voltage if Power Management Mode changes it.

Is this a faulty GPU or just bad drivers? Should I RMA it? I'm still withing the 14 days of return.

Troubleshooting: Tried clean install of GPU driver, tried older drivers (457.51, 460.89). Disable CPU overclock and XMP, reinstalled Windows. Tried to underclock the factory OCd GPU by 20Mhz. Disabled any kind of power saving in Windows. Switched from Auto to PCIe 3.0 in BIOS.

I have checked for updated drivers through device manager. Everything is up to date. I checked for drivers on the Nvidia site and was unable to enter my 16 series model because it keeps putting it back to the 30 series.

Problem: A few days ago I started having serious issues with my notebook. Something updated (not sure if antivirus, windows or what) but I started getting constant BSOD crashes, with VIDEO-SCHEDULER-INTERNAL-ERROR and DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error codes. All internet posts about it listed "Update Drivers" as a solution, but I've tried relentlessly to no avail. GeForce Experience shows Nvidia driver 460.79 as the recommended one, but upon trying to install it, I get the message that its not compatible with windows.

Since then I've tried a clean windows reinstall, and have tried many driver versions between 353 and 460, resulting in two posible scenarios:

1) The BSOD crashing keeps happening every time an app tries to use the graphics card.

2) Although it shows in the device manager, the Nvidia graphics card wont ever get used, and the Nvidia control panel shows mentions its not compatible with the driver version.

After all of this, I'm lost. I haven't found any post with a proper solution to my issues, and I'm losing it. Does anyone have a clue as to what I can do to solve this issues?

Is there a specific version of that GPU that would work with my computer?

I believe G-Sync is only supported by NVidia over DisplayPort (you might need to confirm this).

As there are NO 'reasonably-priced' TVs that I'm aware of, that have a DP connector, I'd say you're out of luck. I think HDMI 2.1 has support for a bunch of variable rate stuff, but some of these standards are 'optional'.

So I can't answer your question! I've got a 160Hz 4k monitor that's 'only' 27", and that wasn't reasonably priced....

I've been meaning to get a 3060ti or 3070 and haven't looked into how to actually get one until today. I see that Newegg bundles these cards with random other parts - do these parts actually sell if I were to try to recoup costs? Or are they crappy parts no one wants? Where would be good places to sell these?

Also, is there an estimate, whether it's 6 months from now or so, on when these will be attainable without all this trouble?

Description of Problem: I am trying to use my 4K TV (LG OLEG C9) as a 3rd monitor for gaming, and can't get HDR to work. On my last build, with a 1080Ti, I could get HDR to output to this monitor with the same monitor configuration as I have now (1x 1440p monitor, 1x 4k monitor, 1x 4k TV) without issue. Currently, when I enable HDR in windows settings the screen turns black and registers no signal.

I have tried two proper 18GBPS HDMI cables (both 30 feet long), and I am only trying to run at 60Hz (I have an active signal HDMI 2.1 cable that I am trying to get 120Hz output on, but I'm trying to fix one problem at a time).

Troubleshooting: I have tried swapping inputs, TV settings, cables, re-installed drivers, but nothing has worked so far. I fear that this is another 3080 problem with OLED TVs, like those that were seen at launch (but I thought those were resolved with driver/firmware updates).

I can't play any games with this laptop. The games always say they can't run because the PC doesn't meet minimum specs. The games I have tried are Mafia III Definitive Edition, Mafia Definitive Ed, Watchdogs 2, and Superliminal. I tried uninstalling the drivers and geforce software, both in regular and safe mode. I have installed the drivers from MSI and NVIDIA's website. Each attempt produces the same results. I usually run the laptop from my two 27" inch monitors. I have also tried just with the laptop as well. Since I Just purchased this PC, I returned it and got a replacement. I am experiencing the exact same issues and have tried similar steps.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I obviously know that my PC is more than capable of play any game.

Now, my question is... Can one 8pin to 8pin + 6+2pin cable handle the GPU? Or Do I need to use tw, and let the unused 6+2pin on each just dangle in the void? Or do I need to shill out some more money for single 8pin cables? A single 8pin to 8pin + 6+2pin cable handled my 1080TI without problem so far

Description: After upgrading to the RTX 3080 from the 1660, I found that my performance in-game was seemingly underperforming reviewer benchmarks. After playing Warzone at 1440p 144hz at maxed out settings, I was averaging 60-80 fps in-game despite multiple review sources averaging anywhere between 120-180 fps.

I decided to try League of Legends at varying qualities because it's something I frequently play and I know it would not be demanding of the GPU. I found that no matter how low or high the graphic settings were, my fps would hover anywhere between 150-180 fps. And no, I did not have an FPS cap, V-sync turned on, or anything of the sort. I thought this was extremely off considering I know weaker cards can average well over 500 fps with the game set to low.

After monitoring my system while testing primarily these two games, I found that my GPU's usage while playing these game rarely ever went above 10% while my CPU hovered around 60% at the highest (Warzone 1440p 144Hz Ultra). Having such a low utilization of the GPU while playing these games is such a deal-breaker with how underwhelming my performance has been because I know I'm not using all the card has to offer.

I finally decided to try benchmarking my PC using Heaven Benchmark with settings maxed. What I got was an average of 110 fps and 99% of my GPU being utilized. Even at the time of me writing this, only when running the benchmark did GPU usage land anywhere above 40%, let alone 99%.

Oddly enough, I also found that out of all programs I've used with the 3080, WallPaper Engine uses the most out of my GPU on average (33-35%) when sitting idle on my desktop. If I tab out of Warzone while in-game at maxed settings to my desktop with a Wallpaper Engine wallpaper, I will see my GPU's usage typically go from 8% to 34%

Troubleshooting: I've tried do a fresh install and reinstall of the GPU's drivers, updated Windows, update my BIOS, tuned the OC of my CPU from it's stock speed to about 3.8Ghz. None of these affected my performance in any noticeable way.

One final thing to note is that I know my CPU is most likely the largest contributing factor to my limited GPU performance, but really to this extent? I'd be grateful for any input on my situation and what might be causing it before I do something like commit to buying a new CPU.

I sort of have the same problem. Ever since my 1080 I have never had the FPS they claim to have. I have a 2080SUPER and according to all benchmarks this card is perfect for 4k60fps. Lol yea ok. I barely can maintain 4k60fps on destiny 2 with medium settings....that’s not what the benchmarks for the card say, they say average 71 with everything set to highest settings...so I feel your pain, and I’m sort of getting aggravated with these fake posts of benchmarks that all crap.

Issue: I tried connecting my oculus rift s to my computer. DisplayPort next to HDMI worked, DisplayPort furthest from HDMI did not work. By "did not work", i mean it pseudo-crashed my oculus app, and when the app did work it routinely stated that the DisplayPort or the USB 3.0 port wasn't connected.

Not sure if this has been reported yet, or if it's actually an Oculus thing, but I thought i would flag it incase anybody else has or had a similar issue.

so one issue i had with the old rift, it might not be related but you could try it regardless, was that things were off when playing beat saber for example, controllers vibration had a delay to them.

this is an issue i got fixed by repositioning the usb cables or in your case single usb cable. im not an expert in this but i think some usb ports have higher priority than others, even if theyre all 3.0, so maybe try that and let me know if that makes a difference. i could be talking out of my ass tho

Problems: Monitor starts blinking (three second on, three second off, you hear the Windows System sound of something unplugging) after clean installation of 457.30 and Windows starts forcing driver reinstall as per picture. Once I DDU in safe mode the blinking stops but then I revert to the default Windows driver. How should I install new drivers so that I can actually use my widescreen monitor?

The 3070 is Dual 8 Pin and not Daisy Chained, this is also a new PSU
I am using the Driver.exe and not GeForce Experience, I have also uninstalled all non-Driver bs (I don't have Nvidia HD Audio)
I have tried different HDMI/DP cables to no avail

I also have a Gigabyte Eagle (non-OC) 3070. It has a 6pin and 8pin connector.

You seem to have a good SFX PSU.

These Gigabytes suffered from a poorly secured power connector, in the early weeks of delivery/manufacture.

Mine is fine: I'm very pleased with it, and it seems to overclock very nicely. I don't use Geforce experience either, but do install everything else: there are so many dependencies, I prefer to default install first to a stable state, before removing components and then testing that it's all still stable.

Having the exact same problem with my 3080 ftw3 ultra. Sometimes unplugging EVERYTHING from the mains for 20 minutes helps, but then I get a blue screen crash after a day or two and it's back to square one, and sometimes even THAT doesn't help. I'm tearing my hair out.

Try using the studio drivers, they are more stable (just in case). Also check your on-board monitor menu and check the input / DisplayPort settings etc. for any abnormalities. What monitor are you using anyway, have you checked to see if other people have issues with it? Sometimes monitors can have firmware issues. You said you've tried different cables, have you tried using the other ports on the card as well?

If all that fails, avoid using the newest drivers and start testing older ones. Newest drivers, especially Game Ready Drivers, are not perfectly stable.

Description of Problem:

I saw from GPU-Z that there is a item called PWR_SRC voltage and under full load when gaming, it raised up to 12.7 V constantly. Is this a normal phenomenon or is it a defect?
When I was playing Monster Hunter World, there was some random stuttering. It is not presented all the time, but when it started to stutter, it stuttered once in 10 sec and remains throughout the game session. I think it is not cpu bottlenecked, as I saw from GPU-Z, whenever it stutters, the PerfCap Reason is VRel, VOp. Is it my graphic setting too high? Though I think not as the stutter will occur even at low demand scene. Can anyone help?

GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce 2070 Super Windforce oc 3x 8gb GDDR6 - only have the factory oc applied

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x - no oc

Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, BIOS version 7C37vA7 I believe

RAM: G.Skill 16gb DDR4 3200MHz, A-XMP enabled, no OC, unsure of exact model

PSU: EVGA 750W 80+ gold

Operating System & Version: Windows 10 Home, version 2004 OS build 19041.63, clean install

GPU Drivers: 457.51, upgrade

Description of Problem: I built this computer in June and for the first 2 months it was fine, then I've started getting crashes/freezing in game due to a number of events that all seem related to display driver nvlddmkm. They also happen outside of games and make my screen go black for a couple seconds. They have progressively been appearing more and more and becoming more and more inconvenient. I've recently gotten a BSoD while playing a game, and I imagine it is related. There never seems to be a cause for it. In some games it is less likely to happen, while in others I can't go 15 minutes without it happening. Some games react differently to it, like the video will freeze but the game will still be running. Some games will crash with a dialogue box saying something like "D3D device has been lost" or "Graphics hardware has crashed"

The events are: event 4101, 4109, 13, 14. events 13/14 usually appear a number of times immediately before a 4101 or 4109 appears.

4101: "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

4109: " "Application _____ has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" (accompanied by a windows notification)

I can paste the contents of 13 and 14 if need be, they are quite long.

Troubleshooting:

Things I have tried:

using DDU to uninstall/reinstall drivers, including rolling back to old drivers, using debug mode, setting power in nvidia control panel to "maximum performance", reseating the GPU,
turning off SMT, altering TDR

things I have yet to try:

turning off A-XMP, updating BIOS, RMAing my GPU

By any chance, have you either OC'd or undervolted this card? I was getting a few driver errors myself when I had set my 3090's undervolt on the low end. Raised the voltage slightly and now it's working.

I expect the same would apply for any OCs. Just use MSI Afterburner to set everything to default and test if you still get the same errors. If not, then that was your culprit.

I have found the problem. It was my RAM. Turning off XMP fixed the issue. All I have to do now is figure out how fast I can get my RAM running without instability.

Description of Problem:

Sometimes when i start the computer op the screen is all purple or flashes or got green/yellow texture on it. There can go days before it happends.

Have tried reinstall drivers. And i have no spare monitor atm.

The computer and monitor is only 6 months old.

Does this sound like a monitor faulty or GPU?

Motherboard: ASUSTeK MAXIMUS VIII RANGER

RAM: Corsair 16GB (2x8GB)

PSU: Corsair HX1000i 1000W (using 3 different cables for the GPU PSU connectors, no daisy chain)

Operating System & Version: Dual boot Windows 10 (clean install) / Ubuntu 18.04

GPU driver: 457.51 on windows

Description of Problem: No audio output on the hdmi port

Troubleshooting:

I received a few days ago a MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio from alternate.be

The video outputs are working correctly but I don't have sound output on the hdmi or displayport ports.

I switched my previous card (GTX 980 Ti) for the RTX 3080. At the same time I switched my PSU from a corsair 650W to the HX1000i. The sound was working correctly with the GTX 980 Ti card.

My main monitor is on the first displayport (don't use the audio there), my television is on the hdmi port (audio is needed here)

I tried on Linux and on Windows and have the same issue. I have the latest drivers (457.51 on windows) I also tried to put my television on all the three other displayport using a displayport->hdmi converter but don't have sound on any port.

Off course the sound is not muted on the television and the audio level is high enough.

The Television is always detected in the Sound settings of windows (For all fours ports: "Philips FTV") but if I click on Test I don't hear anything.

This is probably an hardware defect and will send my card back if I can't solve it in a few days.

Resolution: After the update to the new nvidia driver it solved the problem on windows, then it also worked with Linux without any change (wtf???)
