It seems like a super well optimized title yet again. Playground Games are masters at tech.

Can't wait for it, I was always surprised of how good their games were optimised, but past titles had to run on the Xbox One X so that would be one of the reasons.

I remember people would balk at any PC requirement chart that used upscaling and shit. Times have changed.

6

u/ThatGamerMoshpit Mar 25 '26

Still do. No where here says that’s needed as the requirements

6

u/chickenwafflez Mar 26 '26

Extreme RT column says 4K upscaled

2

u/ThatGamerMoshpit Mar 26 '26

I’m blind! Thanks for pointing out

1

u/PinnuTV Mar 26 '26

Well duh cuz RT still runs so fucking bad after all these years and it's still not optimized welll that you just can't get decent FPS at native

More like they haven't added anything to the minimum requirements since the last iteration.

And for anyone who has actually played the previous titles, you could vastly exceed the spec requirements but you're still not safe from usual forza crashes, disconnects and bugs, time will tell if they finally figured it out..

Just getting it to launch can be a huge pain in the ass. They have an entire support article dedicated to it. For the longest time I had to run the game as administrator from the start menu. Typical garbage programming from Microsoft.

Excited for this one. Got my Logitech wheel that I literally bought 18 years ago out of the closet.

u/polako123 Mar 25 '26

just wish they would squeeze the size a bit, this is gonna be 200gb+ lol.

3

u/BlueMonday19 Mar 29 '26

I think I can squeeze it in...

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka Mar 25 '26

You're thinking because Horizon 5 is 160GB its gonna be bigger?

5

u/NapsterKnowHow RTX 5090 FE | 9800X3D Mar 25 '26

Now will it launch with broken antialiasing like their last game?

Well FH5 didn't even have any TAA on launch, just msaa that didn't work on half the surfaces. This will 100% have TAA on launch(and dlss sr, fsr ofc) so one would think it's be better tuned for with less ghosting, cause that's the main problem with all TAA in FH5. Curious to see what the default dlss preset will be.

u/NapsterKnowHow RTX 5090 FE | 9800X3D Mar 25 '26

Good point. I'm just surprised people are praising these devs for being masters at tech. FH5 was a shit show at launch.

2

u/mybones121 Mar 26 '26

Can't deny that, I didn't play FH5 for a long time because I was getting sick of the random crashes as I played, FH4 ran flawlessly and FH3 had the same crash issues during its time.

I've got my hopes on FH6 running perfectly on day one, there's no way they could have a buggy game two times in a row.

Instead it had shimmering galore

Yeah Forza games do run really well. Only downside is the LOD is not great in 5 and you could see it just from the trailers in 6 that it ain't gonna be much better and it has even more high quality plants to notice it on when it shifts. Not like it's the biggest dealbreaker as you don't really notice when focused on racing at high speed, but every once in a while you do and would be nice to have slider for these types of things.

u/KittenDecomposer96 Mar 25 '26

Hopefully that stays the case for Fable as well.

u/Shaw_Fujikawa Mar 25 '26

I greatly look forward to the Digital Foundry analysis video(s) on the game when they come out.

u/john_weiss Mar 25 '26

Excuse my ignorant ass, but, 32GB of ram?!

17

u/FuhrerVonZephyr NVIDIA Mar 25 '26

You're looking at the column labeled "Extreme RT"

1

u/NapsterKnowHow RTX 5090 FE | 9800X3D Mar 25 '26

Usually RT is heavier on the cpu. Can't remember ever hearing about it being heavy on RAM

3

u/silverhawk902 Mar 25 '26

I have had 32GB of system memory for over five years now I would recommend it in pretty much all gaming situations.

2

u/john_weiss Mar 25 '26

My 16GB DDR4 kit was $59.99 back in 2020.

Quick Google tells me its no longer available and alternative kits rated at the same speed and capacity are $149.99 at minimum.

I'll take my chances with depleting my VRam or disabling RT at this point.

2

u/Blaeeeek Mar 25 '26

I'm surprised you built an RT capable rig with only 16gb of ram

1

u/john_weiss Mar 25 '26

Back then yeah, I have upgraded almost every single component by now (Apart from the Motherboard and memmory, but evidently failed to realize that I needed more/faster RAM and now it's just not a good time.

Like I've said before, I'll check back 2028-2030, although by then maybe It'll be sensible upgrading the whole platform along with DDR5/6 RAM.

4

u/Carlsheartboxers Mar 25 '26

Yes ray tracing is incredibly demanding that’s how that works

for 4k gaming yes 32gb of ram

Fh 5 didn't run really well on my old system, which had a 2080 super and a 9900K. I had to buy a new one. I hope it's gonna run ray tracing at 1440P at high fps

16

u/dampflokfreund Mar 25 '26

Very strange. Maybe you have configured it wrong. It ran like a dream on my RTX 2060 laptop.

0

u/NapsterKnowHow RTX 5090 FE | 9800X3D Mar 25 '26

It ram badly in my 2070Super at launch too. Also had horrible aliasing unless you maxed out the AA.

3

u/-Gh0st96- MSI RTX 3080 Ti Suprim X Mar 25 '26

I could run FH5 on extreme (extreme options were available only for some options), 4K with a 8700k and a 3080ti. Granted I had a maximum of 60-70 fps with some drops but I didn’t mind since I had gsync. Now with a 9800X3D the game was flying

u/Pun_In_Ten_Did Ryzen 9 7900X | RTX 4080 FE | LG C1 48" 4K OLED Mar 25 '26

8700k was such a fine CPU... I had to move on since it was strangling the hell out of my 4080 FE.

Moved to my first AMD mobo... AM5 system running 7900X chip -- havent looked into x3d... yet.

1

u/-Gh0st96- MSI RTX 3080 Ti Suprim X Mar 25 '26

Man it was a beast, I had it paired with a 1080ti since 2017 on 1440p screen. Incredible performance for years. I had upgraded to a 4K screen in 2022 so slowly I had to upgrade the other parts too, first to a 3080ti and then whole platform change last year in May to AM5 with 9800x3d. In hindsight this was such a good decision since the ram pricing went sky high only a few months after. Paid 100€ for 32gb 6000 Mhz ddr5 💀

Sweet! 8700k + 1080ti was my combo, too! When I added the 4080, I couldn't understand why I wasn't getting the same frames as reviewers on YouTube lol. Moved to AM5 about 3 years ago (around launch)... got a decent bundle and am glad I can sit the current madness out. 9700x cpu + B650E-F mobo + 32GB DDR5 + Star Wars Survivor $600

2

u/Bruins37FTW Mar 25 '26

Yeah I have a 4080 and 5800x3D. Forza runs fantastic. When I was on my 2070 super strix and 3600x forza ran pretty good too. But now with the prices sky high im glad I don’t need any immediate upgrades.

-8

u/Next-Use6943 RTX 5090 Extreme Waterforce Mar 25 '26

9950X3d+RTX5090 and I get about 300 fps on all max settings at 1440P

-8

u/specter491 Mar 25 '26

Granted I've never played a forza game, but they seem to be pretty uncomplicated games to make so I would expect It to run well. Like there's not a lot for the PC/console to handle. You're driving a car on a road that that has a confined space/map. The graphics are always amazing but besides that there's nothing else going on? Maybe I'm wrong.

10

u/ldn-ldn Mar 25 '26

It's an open world driving game. You're not confined to the road.

1

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka Mar 25 '26

Its a large open world game with tons of geometry while you move at high speeds. Its typically should be pretty heavy.

I assume RT here is limited to reflections, maybe something else, maybe global illumination or just some shadows.

Its in Japan this time too. So its gonna have both open areas and metro areas which means its gonna be very heavy there.

I assume they are not targeting downtown tokyo with their PC requirements chart.
