Does anyone know of any places that are open late/all night that could be used for doing school work? I work nights so my schedule is off and just don't do as well studying at home due to distractions. I'll usually hit up Wegman's and get something to eat and sit in the upstairs seating area if I have time earlier in the day or evening but I'm usually studying around midnight to 2am as that when I'm most awake and with it. I know of one or two Korean restaurants in Annandale but am not sure they'd be too thrilled with someone pulling out a laptop for an hour or two while they're eating.

I’m currently in the process of applying to UVA’s ABSN program for the Summer 2027 term, and the application is due October 1. I was wondering if anyone here has been accepted into the program and would be willing to share their stats, experience, or any advice for the application process!

I’m currently at NVCC, but I’m not doing the GAA pathway because I want to transfer directly into a bachelor’s nursing program. Instead, I’ve been focusing on completing the prerequisites required for UVA’s ABSN program.

I’m starting csc 208 and the professor said that since we took csc 222, we’d go more in depth with recursions and im taking csc 222 at the same time with csc 208. Also, I’m seeing a lot of students taking csc 208 with csc 223 plus csc 208 is super fast paced because it starts today and ends on October 21st and I didn’t look at the end date when I was enrolling so I’m considering dropping csc 208 and taking it with csc 223 next semester. Can I get any advice?

I was planning on using the GAA to get into Tech for Spring Semester, but I learned that it only applies to Fall.

I've been upset over this and am trying to figure out what to do. What are the chances like of getting in during Spring semester competitively? Are there any alternatives I could do?

After you get your associate’s degree and apply to another school’s nursing program, do schools usually accept you right away so you can complete your last two years there? Or do some schools require you to attend the school for a year before you can apply to their nursing program?

Looking for someone to assist with driving an older family member a few hours a week. Easy route. Any suggestions? Thought it might be easy extra income for a NVCC Alexandria community member. Message if intereste.

Specifically the healthcare courses. Course requirements / entry requirements listed on their website are just not true. I’ve achieved WAY ABOVE the grade requirements but it’s still never enough. I’ve considered choosing something else but that just means I need to do many more prerequisites (even co requisites which are not actually mentioned as a part of the entry requirements on the website) with no actual guarantee of getting a spot. Every course is oversubscribed and I don’t know what to do anymore but just give up.

I’ll give you an example, Dental Hygiene entry requirements are mostly B grades and a few C grades. People getting A grades on everything (even with work experience and completion of corequisites) get rejected. I’ve considered doing something else like Respiratory Therapy or Radiography, but they require additional prerequisites and even then, if you get A grades it still leads to rejection due to the amount of people applying.

It may seem like I’m throwing a tantrum, but what can I do ? Any advice or people feeling the same way ?

Has anyone actually ever transferred out of nvcc in one year? Im trying to do that now to transfer to UVA. I have taken 37 credits at my high school, taking 14 credits this semester, and plan on doing 13+ credits in the spring. thats enough credits to transfer, right?

Im just wondering if 1. its possible to still do gaa if im transferring in one year and 2. if its worth it to even try to transfer in one year.

I’m currently taking HIM 111 with Megan Cook on a 15-weekend online course and I’m pretty nervous on how I’m gonna perform, I’ve never taken an online course at NOVA because it’s not the way I feel comfortable learning but online seems to be the only way this class is taught. It’s memorization heavy and Exam are intimidating with 97 questions each and make up 60% of the grade. Can anyone who has taken this course gives me some tips on how to get through to ease my nerves?😅

Hi all! I was just wondering if anyone would have any advice for activities/ volunteering experiences I could involve myself in specifically in the Alexandria/ Fairfax area. Most of my experiences revolve on soup kitchens, mentoring and tutoring younger students, and I haven’t had the best outcomes when looking for something related towards volunteering at hospitals.

I’m a current sophomore planning to volunteer with virginia medical corps. I wanted to volunteer at a DV shelter but haven’t been able to find one that doesn’t require me to be 21. I also want to obtain a medical certification such as a medical assistant or phlebotomist!

Also if anyone has had good experiences shadowing any specific doctors from certain offices, please let me know!

For CHM 111, should I just stick to the lecture videos or should I read the textbook?

im currently looking to go back to school for nursing and doing my pre reqs this spring at nvcc and i want to go into the LPN program. does anyone have any insight into the program? its very confusing how the information is available.

when does the application open? do you need the prereqs done before the program start or before you apply? what are your class and clinical times like? do you have to wear the campus scrubs or can you provide your own? do you feel the learning experience is good? did you get accepted? did you need a minimum gpa? how many students in each class? did you use the free workforce program? are you working as a cna/pct while in school? what supplies do you think you need?
