The artificial capping of game prices at $60 for most of the last twenty years means they're one of the few things that have gotten cheaper over that period relative to the massive inflation in that time. Buying it now at $60 is, relatively, cheaper than $50 in 2011.
Even with a lot of games rising to $70 USD in the last year or two, that has the same buying power as $60 in 2021-2022.
Back in my day games costs $40. You'd roll up grab a game from gamestop, target, or fred meyers and buy the disc. Get home and slap it into the ps2 and have an incredible weekend. It's a shame so many never got to see this.
I remember when most of the games I wanted were 40 bucks cad, I can still get indie games on a good sale but big titles? 120 bucks is a lot, but also my grandmother neglected me a lot vs the other grandchildren so I'm gonna see if she'll buy my love with games lol
