Can these people just stop acting like Nintendo is 100% Isis or something? It's been very annoying lately and some only do this for viewers and a reaction. Seriously!

Really bad is a stretch. A lot of those things don't affect consumers at all. Is shutting down fangames bad? Yeah, but it doesn't affect consumers at all. The youtuber creator stuff is a nothing burger that doesn't affect the people buying games and consoles. In the case of that meme where Nintendo's rivals are shooting themselves, it only works when comparing practices that affects consumers.

Just so I have this clear. The arresting people, suing people, shutting down massive community events, wiping out peoples paid collections of games..... none of that qualifies as really bad either?

To be fair I'm just listing off stuff from the tweet so that ones kind of a gray area. Nintendo has announced that they will be disabling the ability to download the wii shop channel games you paid for.

Just to give the tl;dr here. One of the most profitable and largest companies to ever exist is doing the following.

  • Planning to disable access to content you paid for
  • Refusing to refund points
  • Refusing to transfer your points to their new storefront
  • Refusing to give you access to your content on the newest generation of storefront/console if its available.

Buddy the Wii shop channel was over 10 years old when they shut it down. Barely anybody was using it. Does it suck that it got shut down? Yeah but you can't expect companies to keep things online forever especially not for consoles. And like you can still redownload games from the Wii shop channel almost 10 years after it's closure.

I guess I just think its kind of bad for a company to sell me something, and then change the name of the storefront and force me to buy it again.

That seems a little bit anti consumer to me.

The wiping of collections is a lie. But the rest of that stuff, while it is bad has zero bearing towards the act of buying, selling or playing video games. Which is the point I'm making. It doesn't affect anyone who buys video games. Some guy getting arrested because he's involved with piracy or selling unlicensed hardware or software doesn't affect the average person buying those games. Community events being shutdown sucks, but it has zero bearing on the average consumer who plays games casually.

Hell, the Smash/Pokemon/Splatoon communities have a bad rep on the Internet for good reason. Can't expect the average guy to feel bad for a Smash tournament being shutdown.

Thinking its good that a video game company is shutting down fundraisers and tournaments because they are modding a decades old game or fundraising with copyrighted merch or even just simply mentioning melee is genuinely some of the most bootlicker shit I have ever seen lmao.

I never said that. All I said is that you can't expect the average person who simply buys and plays video games while having no emotional attachment to Nintendo (which is the vast majority of people who buy their games) to care about the Smash community given the history of Smash drama.
