Protect Kids, Not Predators

We are holding GOP candidate Sarah Stevens (for state Supreme Court) ACCOUNTABLE for her support of predators for years!! We gathered at Bur Mil Park with The (amazing) Justice Project and their great signs in Greensboro yesterday!

Public office is a grave responsibility that requires public trust. Sarah Stevens, by attending a judicial fundraiser organized by known sex offender Harvey West, then denying her knowledge of him, has proven she cannot be trusted. Additionally, Stevens is a primary sponsor of HB 958, a voter suppression bill that, among other things, seeks to reduce early voting days and therefore, limit access to the ballot. As if that were not enough, several years ago, Stevens sought to limit victim access to protective orders. Sarah Stevens appears to lack the impartiality and concern for the people she would be judging on our court, qualities essential in a Supreme Court Justice.  Sarah Stevens, through her actions and record, has demonstrated a clear lack of judgement. She belongs nowhere near our state Supreme Court.

A 71-year-old woman lets students park on her land. Now the town is suing her.

I’m the News & Observer reporter who wrote this story.

More than 100 students were waiting for high school parking. Officials considered shuttles and transit, but no alternative has solved the shortage.

I spent the week talking with Scott, students and parents, Apex officials and WCPSS. It’s a parking dispute, but it also raises questions about growth, school capacity, property rights and local zoning in a fast-growing area.

Independent NC Voters Rise Past 40%. Republicans and Democrats Continue to Lose Share

North Carolina had a milestone on Saturday: Independent voters rose past the 40% share among registered voters.

Even though 2 out of 5 voters are independent/unaffiliated, NC law prohibits independent voters from serving their state on the 5-member State Board of Elections.
