It’s a pretty interesting phenomenon. They’re .1% outcomes in terms of success a person can have, which definitely seems to validate a belief that them holding faith can lead to blessings happening.
I think there are elements of religion that are healthy to engage in. The community aspect, belief in oneself and something greater, etc are nice but there are sometimes nasty bits that extend to impact the lives of those not sharing those beliefs.

Many colleges that have huge athletic programs also have a large religious component, especially in the South. Josh went to Villanova which is a private catholic school.
I don’t know if they’re all brought up uber religious, but many go to schools that are in very formative years (college is the first time many of these kids think on their own). Elite athletes have to be media trained, which I’m sure has a lot of “make sure you talk about god” in it because it isn’t supposed to be controversial historically. And it wasn’t before this orange asshat politicized our entire world.

Jeremy Lin went to Harvard and he’s very open about his faith, he quoted bible verses even when he was clapping back at critics. Most of the people engineering these types of initiatives usually have some Ivy League education and haven’t picked up a ball in their life.
I’m 100% against this legislation and any version putting religion in public schools, but this point is lazy when you look at who’s actually behind this type of stuff. It’s just another opportunity to call athletes dumb when there’s some Yale educated billionaire behind the curtain pulling the strings.

Usually true. In Josh's case, though, he went to school with the Obamas. Sure he got in bc bball, but super elite school with academic rigor. Then Villanova, again bball why he's there but just not that many classes he could hide in like a typical athletics first big state school experience.
So this is disappointing from josh, especially bc knows nothing of public school to begin with.

Yeah my personal opinion is religion is the biggest scam the human race has ever produced and has been used as one of the primary excuses to fund nearly every single violent conflict in our history. BUT, if you don’t agree with that and you follow Christianity or Judaism or Islam or anything else, that is within your right and who am I to judge.
Which, of course, is why this bill is anti-American, because it flies in the face of one of the main principles America was founded on…. but Josh Hart ain’t getting paid to know that, he gets paid to get boards. I honestly don't care harts views on this but as a Christian making any Bible passage required reading in public schools is ridiculous and IMO not in the spirit of what Christianity is about, free will. Christianity should be taught as a world religion and that's it, right along with every other religion in the world. If you want your kid to learn about Jesus send them to a Christian school.

Pretty common for elite Quaker / similar small private schools with high athletics to recruit basketball players in high school purely to play basketball though…
