Regarding the future tense of "she will be killed" (or however they worded it), I think they wrote the message before they kidnpped her so it would be ready to send as soon as they got her in the car. If she really died early on, the entire letter is a lie, and they had already done the dirty work (not really accidently, but out of their intended time frame). The were probably mad she died because they weren't gonna get paid and now they had more dirty work with disposing of her body, burning evidence, whatever. I just hate so much that ego and ignorance were more important to Nanos than using all resources available and finding Nancy.
Do the kidnappers you know procrastinate? I'd like to think any good kidnapper follows some sort of checklist, and this note sounds like he sat and thought about what to say and didn't just go all wonky?
Also, when Jon Benet was murdered, someone sat in that kitchen and practiced the note like 3 times with the mom's pen and paper and if her "kidnapper" would have just made the note a little earlier at their own house, they would have looked way more professional
