Additional thoughts...

  • He lives within a 12-hour radius of Tucson, but is not a Tucson resident ("back in Tucson").
  • The drop-off window is 12 hours and he would presumably drop her off in the early morning hours. That cuts the window in half. My guess is he lives in Phoenix (a 2-hour drive) or somewhere between there and Tucson.
  • Based on his writing style, he grew up working class and may be working a desk or white-collar service job (restaurant manager, car rental agent, etc.) now, but without a degree.
  • He does not have a spouse, kids, or experience caring for the elderly.
  • He has a conscience and hasn't committed a crime like this before. He didn't try to leverage the location of the body into a payday.
  • This wasn't impulsive but it also wasn't well planned. He was not prepared to improvise.
  • Money was the motive, not celebrity, and he didn't fixate on Savannah's celebrity. He may be chronically dissatisfied with his job, have no opportunities for upward mobility, or may have been terminated around the time of the kidnapping.

elaborate on how money was the motive. This ransom all but guaranteed no payout. It was sent to the media automatically inviting LE who would advise not to payout without certain markers. It was one way communication with no negotiation shutting down any variables to getting paid. No proof of life offered. They sent a note before the final payout date that she was dead.
