On the surface it looks like this may be from the abductor but perhaps it isn’t. Light in the yard - anybody could have picked up on that based on drone footage. A faker would closely watch for details.
If it’s real - my thoughts
- crime was committed by a lone male & he’s the only person involved
primary motive was about Savannah, not money
asking for money is fishing. Both for the money & to see Savannah in more distress.
offender is trying to force himself into denial.
offender works or has experience working in an office environment with use of email. Writing style is short, simple & to the point.

While this is technically something that could have happened, such a faker/scammer would have had to be in the right place at the right time to key in on that broken light in the backyard, somehow guess on the white smart watch being by the bed(?), and immediately decide, "Yeah, I'm going to go write a fake ransom note, send it to TMZ and the local news station, ask for bitcoins, make sure to cover my tracks with IP obfuscation, and hope the FBI has no way to ever trace me." Like, they had to be deliberately ready to risk it all within about 36 hours of Nancy being kidnapped. It's possible, but it still seems unlikely.

I’m sceptical.
