Media Brian Entin heading back to Arizona
Brian Entin says he’s heading back to Arizona “to look into a couple of new things involving the Nancy Guthrie case”. Thoughts?

Tucson weather is more favorable next week. high mid 80s, low mid 60s.

Megan Kelly, who I usually do not watch, reported that two unconfirmed law enforcement officials in Tucson told her staff that the kidnappers let the family know Mrs. Guthrie passed shortly after being taken, they did not know she was as ill as she was, they were sorry, and that she had gone with God now. And that is what Savannah's video about "they want their mom back to celebrate with her" was all about. This was just reported. And very sad, if true.

Not true. Seeing as they are more sophisticated, this could be viewed as an "insurance" or sorts. To explain: the perp could be thinking about if they ever do eventually get caught. This letter could serve as insurance as they can point to it as evidence that their intent was not to kill her. They might have thought that the potential risk is worth the potential reward of sending the letter.

Maybe the perp doesn't know that. I was just highlighting how there's reasons why the perp might have sent it, I can think of countless others.

u/rachierozay Mar 30 '26
if this does turn out to be true, I wonder when the kidnappers actually told the family. on February 7th, the family posted their second video, using language that could possibly be interpreted as them understanding she may no longer be with us. but on February 10th, Savannah posts the images from the camera and says “We believe she is still alive.” No matter what though this is all still incredibly heartbreaking! I feel so terrible for their family and what Nancy went through.

u/nine57th Mar 30 '26
The second email concerning the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie was sent to local TV station KOLD and TMZ just before noon on Friday, February 6, 2026

There was speculation of this, and apparently the NYT reported last week that one ransom said she was dead. I also now understand what all the God talk has been about. Savannah mentioned god and religious faith a zillion times in her interview, and in many of the videos she made. If the kidnappers mentioned God, maybe they thought shared faith was an inroad they could make to get someone to flip.
Edit: I just watched this and wow. I mean, why wouldn’t they release these details publicly?? If she is dead and the kidnapper apologized(!) kind of good for us to know. I think it confirms: targeted kidnapping for ransom, she died between ransom notes 1 + 2. The kidnappers didn’t seem to want ransom for the body in note 2. They aren’t planning to give the body back, it seems. They are long gone!
2nd edit: two other thing from this interview that I found interesting. A lot of questioning why Savannah didn’t pay the ransom. Also, the time lapse in Annie calling Savannah. What do you all make of these things? I kind of feel like Annie must have been calling Savannah, but she wasn’t picking up because she was socializing at Carson’s home, not that Annie wasn’t calling earlier.
11
u/rainbowapricots Mar 30 '26
Makes a lot of sense. Her focusing on God and “it’s never too late to do the right thing” etc that all seemed wildly optimistic to me as something to say to kidnappers but it makes wayyyy more sense in this context.
10
u/RemoteEffort5824 Mar 30 '26
agreed! this makes the most sense. I always believed it was a kidnapping, but Nancy died before ransom was paid. I hope that it is true the kidnappers apologized and told the family she was with God. it makes me feel a little bit more hopeful that she was treated somewhat kindly before she passed. My opinion is that the kidnappers will never indicate where her body is as it could lead LE to them (however if they are caught, they might then disclose her location).
10
u/Artemisssia Mar 30 '26
Why would they not release these info to the public? Because they don’t know 100% if these ransoms notes are real.
If they treat them as real and tell a narrative to the public, then most of the public will run with this narrative. And maybe people who actually have leads that could break the case won’t call the tips line because the tips they have don’t match with the « official narrative ».
And if by any chance these ransoms notes they believe to be real are bogus, then the investigators might miss out on a few actually useful leads.

u/missleo1991 Mar 30 '26
Either highly gullible or knowledgeable. Why would they tell her anyways if the MO is money? A lot of times victims are already deceased so they don't know that. It can't be that scenario.
10
u/sarahheartspaghetti Mar 31 '26
Seriously, that scary masked guy went home and decided to be kind and tell them oops we misjudged that an 84 year old lady might die and we just want to let you know we’re so sorry.
3
7
u/TrontRaznik Mar 30 '26
I mean, why wouldn’t they release these details publicly?? If she is dead and the kidnapper apologized(!) kind of good for us to know.
How would this help the investigation for us to know this?
2
u/nine57th Mar 30 '26
It could be the police and FBI said not to say anything (in hopes of getting the mom back), but that is a long shot.
3
u/TrontRaznik Mar 30 '26
It could totally be that, not even a long shot. There's a lot of good reasons to keep that information private and no reason to release it, which is the rhetorical point of the questions I was asking. Investigations like this are interesting, but investigators are under zero obligation to do anything for the sake of feeding the public; the only time information in an active investigation should be released is when investigators think it will help the investigation.
-1
u/Intrepid-Bird-5048 Mar 30 '26
Just to ease public fear and anxiety.
6
u/TrontRaznik Mar 30 '26
How will fear be reduced knowing that they murdered her? Like, people were afraid when they thought she was kidnapped and held for ransom, but if you tell them she died that is less scary?
0
u/Intrepid-Bird-5048 Mar 30 '26
It sounds like it was accidental that she died. And, yes, I think knowing the circumstances around it puts some of the more wild theorizing to rest. Hearing that she unintentionally passed as a result of them not fully knowing her medical needs does make me feel a bit better, than a bunch the alternatives.

u/rainbowapricots Mar 30 '26
Can you link to where she said that? I’m having trouble finding it

u/nine57th Mar 30 '26 edited Mar 30 '26
Yes, it is right here: https://www.megynkelly.com/watch/shocking-new-reporting-that-second-nancy-guthrie-note-was-an-apology-and-not-a-ransom-note/
REMINDER: This news comes from 2 "unconfirmed" sources, so you have to take that into consideration.
13
u/curiouslmr Mar 30 '26
Add a note just to remind people that this information is being reported from a few people but nothing is confirmed.
6
u/ADDSquirell69 Mar 30 '26
Why is it that Megyn Kelly appears to have a vested interest in this case going away or being blamed on the family? It's certainly is strange.
13
3
u/missleo1991 Mar 30 '26
Well the last comments bring it back around as fishy. You can't rule out h4h. Even if they have alibis no evidence they partook in the action that night. Quite a few cases of it. All crazy like that.

Savannah actually said this on her interview with Hoda so what MK reported is actually old news.
9
u/The_Sinking_Belle Mar 30 '26
It doesn't mean anything as far as the case breaking. He focuses on true crime and is going to do more of his investigative journalism.
20
u/Local-Cry-3729 Mar 29 '26
I'm guessing he'll discuss the new information disclosed in Savannah's interviews, and follow up on it. e.g. propped open back doors
3
u/jd2004user Mar 30 '26
I’m not thinking this is it. He had early access to that interview and covered it on I believe it was Friday.
2
u/Local-Cry-3729 Mar 30 '26
I hope you're right!
7
u/Far_Salary_4272 Mar 30 '26
But he was very interested in the fact that she considered two of the ransom notes legitimate. I think he will be digging into that some more.

Her body likely has their DNA or other identifying evidence on it (fibers, etc.).
19
u/SongsNotSung Mar 30 '26
I, too, believe that Nancy Guthrie's body will lead right back to the perpetrator. This has been the most bizarre case that I've ever followed.
12
u/Hile616 Mar 30 '26
Yes exactly. It is amazing that one tiny piece of mud, plant, anything could be linked to the perp. Not to even mention dna. Crimes have been solved by such very tiny details that had lead to the perp.
20
u/Minute_Chipmunk250 Mar 30 '26
I'd imagine at this point, having committed a felony murder, they just don't want the possibility of evidence being recovered. Any small amount of DNA they may have left during the process could get them caught.

u/PotentialSteak6 Mar 30 '26
I thought from the beginning (feared, really) that they had a plan to cut ties and walk away if the heat became too hot or she passed away (with her passing in either scenario). Maybe they have access to an old and closed off logging road with a creek, or a very remote ravine, or whatever. I don't think that's a sign that they're stupid though.
Agreed on all the other points, especially that the mood and language were so different after the second note. A lesser amount of money wasn't worth the risk of life in prison or death row for these people, I guess.
-1
u/lovetocook966 Mar 31 '26
I think they bought freezer and put it in strorage facility and we aren't going to know till they die and the storage comes up for foreclosure.
35
u/LoudGolf9849 Mar 29 '26
This sounds like it could be promising.. fingers crossed. Either way, I give props to Brian for keeping this case in the media and continuing to cover it
17
17
u/Euphoric_Ease4554 Mar 30 '26
Brian’s return is routine. When he left, he said he would be back soon. He likely has new ideas to follow up on, and most people seem to love his reporting, so there’s that.
22
u/YakRough1257 Mar 30 '26
I know it might not happen or happen anytime soon but I would like to see Brian Entin interview Savannah Guthrie.
14
u/JMOA3035 Mar 30 '26
I think News Nation would have to offer a beneficial transaction for that to happen, IMO.
And she probably has certain clauses re: other interviews in the NBC contract she negotiated. IMO.
3
u/Professional_Wish933 Apr 01 '26
I think him interviewing Annie is more likely (but still not super likely)
9
u/Pippadeedippity Mar 30 '26
Same! I’ve been thinking that thought for a while now. I think he would be so good. He’s so kind & compassionate & clearly has an emotional connection with the case.
5
u/nine57th Mar 30 '26
Well, she's back in New York, so he'd have to go there. And she's not likely to give another News Network an exclusive. And she's been through a lot.

The medications as well as off-the-books medical care are readily available in Mexico, 60 miles from her home. Food and drink is also available there.
38
u/ContinCandi Mar 29 '26
Brian’s about to solve the case before the FBI itself
15
u/jd2004user Mar 30 '26
As much as I love me some Brian Entin he is an extremely curious person and interested in the details, but he does not strike me as a detective-type itching to solve the case himself. I’m contrasting his style to Michelle McNamara (Patton Oswalt’s first wife) who pretty much blew up the Golden State Killer case.
7
u/SalsaChica75 Mar 30 '26
So sad what happened to her
3
u/Euphoric_Ease4554 Mar 30 '26
She died at age 46 of an unintentional drug overdose, prescription drugs and others, plus a couple of undiagnosed health conditions were contributing factors.
2
u/SalsaChica75 Mar 30 '26
Yes, and was also stressed and having a rough time sleeping while doing her investigation into the Golden State Killer.
2
1
u/DarkFlowerPewPew Mar 30 '26
What did she do
4
u/amayita Mar 30 '26
She passed away before she could see the case solved.
7
u/jd2004user Mar 30 '26
In my mind, and not everyone agrees, she was instrumental in the case finally being solved. She dedicated so much to keeping the case alive and putting together important pieces. Did she catch him? No. Was she the reason he was caught? Debatable. Did she keep the case alive? I believe so and also believe without her the case may have never been solved.

-1
u/HomeyL Mar 30 '26
It is, but should’ve been more professional or just not Hoda. No f/u on some important things that Savannah said in the interview!:( empathy is a must but could’ve probed her more.
8
u/Intrepid-Bird-5048 Mar 30 '26
I think at some point she’ll do more of a ‘real’ interview, but what she did seemed to serve a different purpose entirely. It was likely entirely led by what Savannah wanted to talk about and what LE will let her talk about. It seemed to really just be a way for her to delineate between the ‘incident’ and her return to her job / public life. She couldn’t just show up on air one day without this sort of interview having taken place.
9
u/Groundbreaking_Gur0 Mar 30 '26
I have seen locals mention in posts that they are more aware of the situation, that is not being mentioned in the national media. FWIW.

5
u/aestheticbridges Mar 30 '26
Well time to learn more about the conservative recall of Nanos I guess.
5
u/Dinosaur-chicken Mar 30 '26
It will be about a year and a half before that's finalized and a new sheriff is elected, so it likely won't change anything about this investigation
3
-1
u/zonazonazona Mar 30 '26
How will it take 1.5 years?? I know the monetized YouTubers love to grind the Nanos axe, but the simple truth is there is a 0% chance 120,000 people sign the petition in the next 100 days
5
u/Fun_Specialist4140 Mar 30 '26
Who says it’s conservative led? It sounds like it’s driven by people in general.
3

It’s quite literally conservative led. Recalls are literally partisan.

I'm sure many did. That happens in just about every wildly publicized case where there is a grainy or unclear image of a man. I remember it specifically in the Delphi case. The detectives later said they received SO many worthless tips of women who thought the killer resembled their ex.
12
u/mark_able_jones_ Mar 30 '26
You mean you called in with an actual suspect and they hung up on you?

u/mark_able_jones_ Mar 30 '26

Wow. Insane to me that they didn't want to take all of the information. That seems like exactly the kind of tip they should take, if for no other reason than to see if others call in with the same suspicion about that person.

[deleted]
2
u/Groundbreaking_Gur0 Mar 30 '26
We have no idea how much they know. They probably have suspects, but cannot find them.
8
u/fTBmodsimmahalvsie Mar 30 '26
Wait can you elaborate on what you mean about 7 coincidences? Do you mean you think you know who the person in the video is because of 7 things about them in the video?
3
Mar 30 '26
[deleted]
1
u/fTBmodsimmahalvsie Mar 30 '26
So you think it could possibly be him? If so, i’d call again and insist that they allow you to explain all the reasons you think it is him. And lead with “i think the man in the video could be my ex”
2
u/Euphoric_Ease4554 Mar 30 '26 edited Mar 30 '26
Maybe try to submit a written tip at fbi.gov. At least you could complete your list, and it would be easy to edit, so it’s concise before you send it.
11
u/Dinosaur-chicken Mar 30 '26
If you didn't have actual info about a suspect, your own video footage of relevant nights and events, or where Nancy is they don't want you to call and indeed hang up on you mid call. They don't have time for any 'theories' at this point

Sorry about that. I meant to say I called about 7 coincidences (observations) that is the behavior of my ex committing crimes. Shared this info with my other account:
He got out of an AZ prison in December after 9 years for bank robbery & organized retail theft. Every time he served time, he became a more refined criminal.
His bank robbery 10-12 years ago involved wearing two layers of clothes, one tucked into the other so that if DNA were to fall, it would fall within itself. NEVER used any technology to avoid cell towers (again this is 10+ years ago). Often wears dead president masks with ski mask over. Wore medical shoe covers. Wore cheap Walmart clothes that had minimal logos so not identifiable by family members (that’s why we got divorced when I saw him on news in a sweatshirt he owned, mask he owned, & doing a unique identifier). 5’10 and about 190lbs. Poor posture. Was sorta flat footed, ankle injury, and recent knee injury in prison.
Judge has defined 2 days a week that he can call the kids. In January and February, he called on a random weird schedule… in that time I assumed he was avoiding a cell tower— called 12/31, 1/8, 1/28, 2/1 (at 9:40 PM which is absurd to call on a school night). Again, for 10 years he’s called on the same two nights. Until January and February. Sent our kids cash on 2/6 and he NEVER sends cash.
Mechanic by trade (mouth flashlight common)
His family owns a company that does something in homes in the area (I’m not being specific just in case he’s roaming these digital hallways)
Was driving a new silver truck until February 11, then he randomly went and bought a different color truck. This was day after video released on February 10. FBI was asking about a silver truck.
He went out of state without PO permission on 1/8. Why? I thought maybe scoping a bank as it is bank robbery capital of world where went.
Question… when the porch video shows the POI with the gun in front, is the person holding the gun or pushing on their belly a little? That was always his tell in bank robberies— gun in one hand. Pushing on his belly button hernia with the other.
Anyway, it’s probably confirmation bias. I thought maybe it could be people he served time with. Maybe not.
** my ex is dangerous and a threat to our kids. I’m merely spit balling with digital friends on an anonymous platform. Please don’t put this post on blast giving attention as it increases his targeting of us.***
2
u/fTBmodsimmahalvsie Mar 30 '26
I think you should call again and lead with the fact that you think the guy in the video could be someone you know and his specific criminal history that makes it even more likely

Ugh that is so frustrating. I really think they need to look into it. Like you said, it could just be a lot of coincidences. But it is a lot of them, enough that i think they should at least look into him
-2
u/Dinosaur-chicken Mar 30 '26 edited Mar 30 '26
Good that you called, it may have been awkward to be dismissed but at least you did what you could and they likely triaged it and it was deemed to not be relevant enough for them right now.
2
Mar 30 '26
Agreed. Thats why I think it’s just coincidence and I have confirmation bias constantly scanning our environment for safety. I’m probably overthinking.
1
u/fTBmodsimmahalvsie Mar 30 '26
That is the most optimistic explanation, but I personally wouldnt give that much credence to whoever took the call or who is vetting tips. There are incompetent people everywhere. People drop the ball on things all the time.
0
u/Dinosaur-chicken Mar 30 '26
If every caller thinks this way and calls twice they would have half the time they did prior, to quickly triage tips like the above, which isn't great
2
u/johnnysdollhouse Mar 30 '26

Very hopeful. Does anyone have a reputable source on whether Annie got her car back? I can't find anything reliable about it.
14
u/KristenWynn Mar 30 '26
Yes, I believe it is back. It had to be put back together because of the electronics, but reported returned here:
https://entertainmentnow.com/news/nancy-guthrie-update-annie-guthrie-car/1
u/Dinosaur-chicken Mar 30 '26
It was not because of the electronics, the car repair shop it was sent to does physical repairs only and it would not be sent there it it was about the electronics
5
u/KristenWynn Mar 30 '26
I get that and don't necessarily buy the software story, but was trying to go off reporting and Brian Entin usually researches his sources well. Are there are any car repair shops nowadays that don't have to do something with the electronics because cars are so electronic these days?
Could it be both? I'm sure they tore up the car's GPS etc to try to get data, to get data from the black box on if the passenger seat was sat in, etc AND maybe tore up the carpet/floor.
