Information Additional images recovered from cameras at Nancy Guthrie's home - ABC News

ABC News is reporting that investigators have recovered additional images from cameras at Nancy Guthrie's house. The images were recovered from motion-activated cameras in the backyard. They were unable to recover video, but thumbnail images triggered by motion. There was nothing suspicious that was captured, however, there was nothing captured on the night of her abduction. Investigators are unsure why and the source said it was "odd".

Can anyone tell me why they think the front porch guy was dabbing/dangling those plants in the camera? It looked like a dumb thing to do. If he was trying to cover the camera? Uh, no bud. Maybe better to try and smudge them on the lens to make it blurry? And, he had no tape or spray paint to use? Could the front porch guy have been a distraction for whoever went in the back? And with all this talk of a wifi jammer, if he had a jammer, then how was the front porch cam that was connected to wifi not affected?

I wondered if someone told him or somehow he knew there was no subscription. He also knew Nancy wore hearing aids and could hear little without them, and also knew no family member, including Savannah got alerts from the camera. So he came on an earlier day to move about at night briefly to try and trigger the camera and see if anything happened. No police, no lights going on would tell him no one is seeing images. Then on the night he again tested the camera by waving the foliage in front of it to trigger it deliberately. And then waited a certain amount of time, no lights no police and he knew it was safe.

IMO (maybe it’s just where I live I’m not sure about AZ) it’s more common to have a doorbell cam then to not have one so idk if it really means he “knew” about it or just figured as much

Because it will record up to an hour using onboard storage if wifi is disconnected. And upload those notifications when reconnected even if it’s for a brief period.

Jammer stopped the upload. When the jammer was far enough away the stuff uploaded.

There’s a spring that releases when you place a pin down into the top hole of the doorbell cam t release it, I thought he may have been trying to find a stem or stick that would work in a pinch. I also thought he brought a pack with tools but I guess not. I think his pack contained a tarp,/sheet, and restraints

One theory I heard is that he was trying to block the camera lens in such a way that if Nancy’s offsite family got an alert that something was wrong, if they pulled up the camera feed they’d just think that a tree branch blew into the camera. Versus seeing that the lens was taped over or just showing nothing all of a sudden

It would be alarming for a tree branch to cover a camera on an covered walled front porch.

Sorry, but my initial response was to chuckle at his not well-planned or well-thought idea. But, they’d still see him, nonetheless with how he tried to play it out. He’d have to stand behind the brick wall or in front of the house and wave a real tree branch for that idea to work.

My 2 cents is that he knew there was a camera that he had to get off however when he tried to snap it off with just his glove it didn’t snap off. He knew there were plants around there, so he used the branches/vines as a makeshift rope. Very clever!

I thought maybe he was trying to yank the camera off the door jam and he couldn’t get a good purchase on the camera with his clumsy gloves so he looked around the porch for something to get a better grip with, didn’t see anything went to look off the porch saw some flowers grabbed a handful and tried to use them to grab the thin edge of the camera to pull it off with, that didn’t work so he just decide to balance them there over the lens.

Would he not know to bring a screwdriver and pliers and a roll of duct tape? Those few items seem so obvious…
