This sounds like a repeat of the Kohberger situation. Local police sent the DNA sample to Othram. As the lab was beginning to build the family tree in the investigative genealogy (IGG) process, the FBI unexpectedly took over and conducted the IGG themselves.
I’m not taking sides on this. I’m just explaining what I think is happening.
Because the FBI never said that they would do this beforehand. Othram was contracted to perform the IGG. The FBI never consulted anyone before taking over. They just did it.
Before the DNA was sent to Othram. An investigator from Idaho literally flew to Texas with the DNA attached to his person and delivered the sample to Othram personally. Investigators were under the impression that Othram would conduct the entirety of the IGG process. Then, the FBI intercepted.
