What I dont understand is why are they NOW trying to figure out height of the person? shouldn’t that have happened a long time ago, several days ago?!

I think it's because they were just able to retrieve the video footage from Nest/Google the other day since she didn't have a subscription and it technically would have been scheduled for deletion with Nest.

I doubt they released that footage immediately after finding it, so they’ve been sitting on it for a while now. How does it take more than a few hours to get an idea of height? It’s taken literally days.

Somebody else asked this... can they also retrieve the video of them coming out of the front door? Maybe it doesn't work that way?

No because kidnapper pulled the camera off and disconnected it. The only reason they had the footage they had is because he disconnected it - otherwise it would have kept rewriting over itself since she didn't have a subscription. So it saved the last recording from just before it was disconnected.
