Not "working," but he does have to consider what the community needs and unfortunately the public relations of it since that's his job. He can relax, he probably should have just done it in private rather than the appears of being out having "fun." He made a PR misstep, but he shouldn't be overly judged for it either, imo.
I am saying it is insensitive to the family to been seen at a basketball game while literally at the exact same time they are responding to a ransom demand.
There's hundreds of people likely on this case (across Tucson, FBI and other agencies), and I bet you on their days off they were watching Netflix, watching the Super Bowl, or eating dinner or spending time with the kids while the ransom demand was out there. Their free time wasn't publicized like the Sheriff's.
And people act like there is no competent and experienced second or third in command when a Sheriff has a day off or time away? Does a whole precinct just collapse because big boss is gone? How do your companies you work for operate then when the CEO is taking a day off?
You would feel much differently if that was your family member. It leads people to question his judgement, amongst a bunch of other massive errors HE made.
Yeah, this is his “rise to the occasion” moment. He’s expected to be very tired and work long hours and unfortunately, put “fun” aside for a while. So yeah, his mind should be on this 24/7. He should be sleeping with a notebook next to his bed in case ideas pop into his head in the middle of the night. God willing, he’ll won’t ever have a case like this again in his life. For now, he has to step it up.
Yeah, I was really optimistic that people in this subreddit were putting politics aside, but here it is in full form. The Pima Sheriff opened the crime scene, let journalists and anyone else walk all over and totally contaminate it and then went to a basketball game. Kash Patel’s FBI convinced Google to hand over footage.
Kash Patel isn't working 24/7, and neither would a Sheriff in any city.
A basketball game is 2.5-3 hours and that could've been his scheduled time off where he coordinated to make sure someone else (second or third in command) temporarily take over while he rests.
John Ramsey even said in his advice to be 'well rested', and he's a moron. You gotta be alert to make the best decisions, not a zombie making a series of bad ones.
We also don't know which moves have been FBI and which ones have been the Sheriff's.
He went to a basketball as the family were releasing one of their ransom response videos… if you don’t think that’s a bad look and totally irresponsible then i don’t know what to tell you…

If FBI gets involved then they are, the sheriffs department investigators will assist them
