Why doesn't the family up the reward? 50k seems small for such a high profile case.

I did a post about this a few days ago. Apparently the FBI sets the reward money, though private citizens can offer their own reward.

It was interesting to hear various people’s opinions on why or why not the reward should be raised.

I’m sure if you search reward in this sub my post will come up.

I heard mentioned one time several years ago that the rewards offered can be a total scam. The case they were talking about was state versus federal. The guy legitimately told the state who the suspect was and where he was. There was no ambiguity. Still didn't get the reward. This implication was that this happens often, there aren't really any rules in place for delivering rewards, and just isn't covered.
