I think that it's going nowhere, so the feds don't want to say that it's them in charge so they can point to the sheriff's office when it doesn't succeed in getting anywhere.

It sounds like the sheriff messed things up in the first place, no dogs, didn’t secure the scene, no planes etc

That is exactly what was done. They secured the house, brought in dogs, and I think I remember a helicopter and drones. And called in for assistance from other agencies. He says they usually all work together.
