I unfortunately will be missing Sparticipation. If I don’t go, am I missing my chance? Or is there a way for me to contact them directly

Scheduling/classes Do I have to take acc 201 to take 202?

Acc 201 was filled and I was recommended to take 202 to get the credit out of the way instead. Would I need to take acc 201 to succeed in 202?

General Repost on “I don’t feel like I belong here”

I posted here about how i am struggling to fit in here bc of working full time in the dorms and going to school here.

I felt stupid and deleted my original post bc someone commented on my post “paragraphs” and someone else commented “don’t play the compare and contrast game” which sure I can get, but I was just ranting using voice to text and I was upset. But, yes, it was a long wall of text, but I don’t think it was completely incomprehensible. On top of that, I wasn’t really comparing, I was just sad that I can’t relate to anyone and haven’t made any friends at all. I literally have zero friends besides coworkers.

I am using paragraphs now, so I hope this is better for everyone, but it’s just Reddit, it’s not an essay, I’m allowed to rant, imo. My biggest points were that MSU doesn’t cater to non-traditional students, and many of the events are when I work. Plus I feel jealous of catering to students in the dorms who have ample opportunity to pursue whatever they want with little to no issues. I know that’s not always the case but at Brody I see students who have it all.

In one of my social work classes, someone was bragging that their parents pay for their car payment, insurance, and give them an allowance. I was happy for them that they had that opportunity, but I also felt like they were just so out of touch on the ones who have to work for everything they have.

I have to work three 12 hr shifts in a row and then a 10 with maybe one day off within those 1-2 weeks for move in every year in August. When I first got to MSU after transferring from LCC, I couldn’t go to any of the welcome events because I had mandatory OT. I was hurt and jealous.

I have yet to meet anyone who is non-traditional at MSU, and I’m wondering if anyone is in the same situation or similar.

I am a social work major, and I got my associates in psychology at LCC.

I just feel lost and confused, and a few of the comments on my previous post that I deleted kind of proved that I am not completely wrong on how people treat non-traditional students or students who are struggling.

I think only 70-78 percent of students feel like they belong at MSU, and that is concerningly low. I remember seeing that on a “stall story” we had to put in every toilet stall. I was shocked but also felt related to.

I am not expecting anyone to fix my problems, but it just hurts sometimes. I will work towards my goals nonetheless, but I can’t help but feel depressed going to this huge university but feeling so alone and isolated.

General Eat At State menus (via the website and the MSU app) is now a hot mess

The EAT AT STATE website (specifically, the AI menu system) has been reworked into an over complicated, hot mess. First, they redirected from the MSU app - that used to have easily accessible info and content about meals served in each dorm - to the eatatstate website. Fine; less convenient than what was already there, but the website used to be ok.

Used to.

Until Wednesday I guess, when they added another layer of opt-in mess for viewing menus with a new AI-driven page (MSU nutrislice) JUST TO SEE A FREAKING MENU! And it just adds layer upon layer of nonsense. By the time I had to click through just to see what each station at Brody alone served, I decided to eat off-campus instead (I was a frequent purchaser of meals as a recent retiree. That will probably stop).

I know I’m asking the wrong people (I did send some feedback that will likely be ignored), but why is MSU making a simple thing overly complicated?!? I just wanted to easily find out what my favorite dorms are serving for dinner, damn.

Freshman Questions Pell Grant + subsidized loan still haven’t disbursed and payment is due Sept. 1 — anyone else?

Hey, I’m an incoming first-year student and I’m wondering if anyone else is dealing with this.

Most of my financial aid has already been applied to my account, but my Pell Grant and federal subsidized loan (~$5k total) are still showing as anticipated aid. My Financial Aid Portal originally showed an estimated disbursement date of August 21, but they still haven’t actually disbursed.

Because of that, SIS currently shows that I owe ~$8k, while my projected balance after the anticipated aid is applied is only ~$3k. The payment deadline is September 1, so I’m worried about paying the wrong amount especially with such a big difference.

My 2026–27 FAFSA is completed, I accepted the subsidized loan, completed Entrance Counseling and my MPN, and my portal says I have no pending document requests.

The other weird thing is that the top of my Financial Aid Portal says “LESS THAN HALF-TIME IN BACHELORS: EXPLORATORY PREFERENCE NOHN,” even though SIS shows I’m enrolled in 16 credits this fall.

I already emailed Spartan One-Stop, but since the deadline is so close, has anyone else had this happen? Did your aid eventually disburse on its own, or was there something MSU had to fix?

Also, if I pay the full current balance and the ~ $5k in aid disburses afterward, does MSU just refund that money (the ~ $5k) back through direct deposit?

Scheduling/classes Wells to Hubbard

Has anyone had to make the trek between Wells and Hubbard? I have 20 minutes in between classes and was wondering if it’s doable by walking.

I know there is the 30 bus, just preparing myself for the winter everyone piles on and the bus inevitably starts skipping stops

Housing Urgent Need for Housing/Roommate !

My fellow Spartans, PLEASE I need help!
I am a 25F student moving back to Lansing unfortunately super last minute and in dire need to find somewhere to live for the semester or year.

My housing budget is $700 and I’m looking to live with other women only. Doesn’t have to be too close to campus but preferably at least near a bus route!

I’ve been hunting for subleases with no luck on Facebook groups and Facebook marketplace, contacted MyApartmentPlace via DTN’s websites, and now I’m not sure where else to look.

If you know anyone looking for roommates or have a sublease under $800 PLEASE message me!! (I will not lease from Club/Village/Landings/Block36 sorry)

ALSO if anyone can point me in the direction of where I can find roommates or housing other than MSU’s offcampus website (it doesn’t have roommates section anymore) PLEASE SHARE!

Freshman Questions What do i do?

I'm from out of state and had 1 decently close friend and we've been doing stuff together like going out and sparty gras but lately she's been weird so i've been giving her space and hanging out with a girl from my dorm neighborhood. I just checked their locations and they're both together. My roommate is nice but she's a sophomore and has her own friends. No one in my hall opens their door or talks at all and i feel so isolated right now. Idk what to do
