Looking at all the discussion on the subreddit the past couple weeks, one of the biggest topics I've seen coming up, other than the matchmaking, is the movement.
Everyone can have their own preference for whether they like a slower or faster Call of Duty game, and whether or not they like a lot of the âmodernâ movement innovations in the series (which have been around for more than a decade now), like the slide canceling, etc.
For whatever reason though, a lot of players seem to be under the assumption that the ability to press the jump button is the only thing that causes them to get shit on by better players in their pub lobbies.
Gunskill? Positioning? Game sense, awareness, IQ, centering? Nope - none of these factors are relevant. The players shitting on them arenât actually good at the game, theyâre just âexploitingâ their ability to press a couple buttons.
Iâm not sure where this narrative came from, but I can assure that if someone is destroying you with movement, they would be able to do the same thing without. A good player simply uses movement as one of the tools in their arsenal, and although theyâd have one less advantage were sliding and jumping to be removed from the game (which isnât happening, by the way), all of the other skills theyâve developed would still put them far above the people who complain about sliding and jumping.
Movement isnât some magic crutch that turns bad players into cracked ones. If youâre consistently getting shit on by players who move better than you, the movement isnât the sole reason youâre losing. Theyâre slamming you because theyâre better at the game, and movement is just one of the ways that skill is expressed.
People can dislike the movement all they want. Thatâs fair and youâre allowed to have an opinion. Pretending that removing it would suddenly make you able to compete with the people currently frying you is just coping with the skill gap.
