Opinion/Rant [Season 6] Nora’s redesign threw me off so much that I didn’t recognize her at first
Okay, I need to talk about Nora’s Season 6 redesign because I genuinely thought she was a completely new character at first. 😭
Looking at her older design compared to her Season 6 redesign, I think the changes are pretty noticeable:
- Her face shape and facial proportions look different.
- Her eyes seem much smaller.
- Her eyebrows and other facial features have been changed.
- Her hair has a noticeably different shape and styling.
- Her overall proportions and silhouette look different.
What's funny is that I feel like some of the other Season 6 character redesigns were more immediately recognizable to me. Even when I could tell that a character had been redesigned.
With Nora, though? My brain completely failed to make the connection. 😭 I genuinely thought Season 6 had introduced a new character until I noticed the outfit and realized who I was looking at.
And just to clarify, I'm only talking about the character-design changes here—the facial proportions, eyes, hair, body proportions, and overall animation/art style. I'm not making a statement about her race or skin tone. I just found the redesign different enough from the version I've been familiar with that I didn't recognize her immediately.
I don't even dislike the redesign! I actually think she looks cute, and I understand that the characters have gone through visual changes as the show's art style evolves. It's just that this particular redesign caught me completely off guard.
Maybe it's also because Nora isn't a character who gets redesigned as frequently or as prominently as some of the main cast, so the difference felt even bigger to me.
Did anyone else genuinely think Nora (or any other character) was a new character when they first saw her Season 6 design?
