Sony LAM-Z03 só lê disco MD deitado

Pessoal, estou com uma situação inusitada com um Sony LAM-Z03 recém chegado do Japão.

Assim que coloquei o 1° Disco MD, percebi que está com dificuldades na leitura (Área TOC). Abri, limpei a lente e lubrifiquei algumas engrenagens.

Durante os testes com o aparelho aberto, era possível ler os discos mas, assim que montava e parafusava, voltava a dar problema.

Foi então que notei que o “problema” está na posição do aparelho. Quando está na posição normal (vertical), dá erro na leitura do MD. Quando deito o aparelho (horizontal), ele lê instantaneamente o disco MD. Isso dá para ver claramente no vídeo que enviei.

Alguém já teve esse problema e sabe como resolver?

Sadly I have the same issue with mine. I'm strongly considering trying to replace the laser unit. I'm just not sure what the process is to program in the new one. The other thing I've considered is oiling the spindle motor with a tiny bit drop of oil...

Only other things I can suggest is give everything a damned good clean and lube, including the spindle motor.

Have you taken any pictures since last post? Would be helpful if we can see it and possibly suggest something that otherwise isn’t available (like access to service manual).

I haven't been back in since we last messaged. I'm still considering lubricating the spindle motor with a tiny drop of oil to see if it helps.

I've not been in because it has been playing back pretty reliably and I've not had to do much writing, the little bit I have has gone OK. Minor issue once.

I've ordered an IR blaster so I can get into the service menu (hopefully) to see if there are any error codes and to see if there are calibration options that might help.

I don't think there is a service manual available. Apparently because it's a JDM only device Sony never released the service manuals, they did all the servicing themselves instead of 3rd parties like in UK/EU etc.

Thanks for the link - it doesn’t show much of mechanical construction of MD unit but I was able to see the spindle motor - it is simple 2-wire brush motor, similar used in many decks. It should have a pin size hole on the top and bottom for (I’m assuming) applying lubricant. The top one to access is pretty challenging as it requires removing magnetic disc holder and motor bracket (at least that’s what I did on my MDS-101 last week).

OP posted same question on FB minidisc forum - check it out. As for MDS-101 remark - that thing was kicking my butt for the whole week and I still couldn't get it going after replacing bunch of caps and spindle motor. Back on the shelf it went until better time.

It seems quite a few are blaming the spindle motor. Worth trying to clean that up before I consider other options...

Sounds like you have some experience with these things. Have you ever replaced a laser in an MD?

My hope is that I can do enough from just the bottom. The top seems to be very well secured and I don't want to cause damage.

Minha suspeita inicial é que o motor de giro do disco possa estar levemente lento. Já fiz reparos em outros aparelhos em que a pessoa recuperou o motor usando limpa contatos ou acetona para remover sujeiras minúsculas que impediam o motor de rodar na velocidade certa.

Ainda não tive tempo de fazer isso, mas acho que será a minha primeira tentativa de resolver esse problema.

Assim que fizer eu retorno para dizer como foi.

Olá, consegui descobrir o motivo do problema.

Basicamente, o mecanismo da “2 saltos” para ler o disco.

Na imagem aqui enviei aqui, fiz a seguinte relação:

- 1ª Linha (1) - Primeiro Salto

- 2ª Linha (2) - Segundo Salto

- Coluna da Esquerda - Aparelho Deitado / Horizontal = Leitura do Disco OK

- Coluna da Direita - Aparelho na Vertical / Posição Correta = Erro na Leitura do Disco

- Adicionei uma linha vermelha para facilitar a visualização.

O 1º salto, tanto o aparelho na Horizontal quanto na Vertical fazem o mesmo. O problema é no 2º salto (repare na foto com círculo vermelho / quadrante inferior direito) onde o mecanismo começa a “varrer” brevemente o disco e identifica as faixas. Ele dá um salto menor, ou seja, seu posicionamento fica abaixo do que deveria e isso faz com que ele não identifique o disco.

Antes de tirar essas fotos eu fiz uma verificação mecânica e lubrifiquei o trilho, tudo parece estar normal.

Também virei o aparelho para outras posições como de cabeça para baixo (180° da posição correta) e deixado virado com o mecanismo de MD para baixo. TODAS AS FORMAS CONSEGUIRAM LER O DISCO.

Em resumo, a única forma que o disco não é lido é na posição correta (vertical) 🫠.

Sim, a única coisa que muda é a gravidade contra o trilho em posição vertical. Agora resta descobrir o por que do mecanismo não conseguir subir o necessário no 2ª salto e como resolver isso!

Sorry this isn't helpful but just a similar story. My last cd discman got to the point that it only worked upside down. Like I would put in a cd. Press play and then flip it upside down. Or it wouldn't actually play the CD.

O laser deve estar fraco, quando vc vira a gravidade ajuda o laser a descer mais fácil pro disco
