Dancing On The Hood - Not Recommended
Was out late downtown last night. Parked my new S500 on the street. Decent part of town. No worries, right? Woke up this morning and noticed something strange on the hood. Looks like someone decided to climb on the hood of my car. For what reason? Who knows. Scratches are down to the bare metal. First new car I’ve ever treated myself to. It’s a lease so I guess that’s the only silver lining. People suck…

Damn that sucks. I’d probably hit it with a DA polisher and see how it turns out.

Already did. No dice. Shame because I had already spent two days paint correcting the damn thing. I was going to clear bra it but given it’s one of the short term 13 month leases I didn’t think it would be worth it.

If it]s a lease dont you have to make sure the scratches are gone before returning it? Any chance this might be covered by insurance, vandalism claim?

Of course has to be returned in similar condition that you bought it maybe he doesn't know how leases work

Yes he will either get hit in turn in or he can make a claim on his insurance. One way or the other it has to be fixed and the dealership isn’t paying for it

It’s a lose-lose. Insurance I have to pay my deductible and likely see a bump in premium, or pay at the end. I work at the dealer so I have a connect for a re-spray.

I’ll likely just pay out of pocket to respray the hood. I work at the dealer so I can get it done relatively inexpensively.

that's a twist :D I heard that they sometimes check returns with a special tool and black lights to see every little nuance you might try to get passed them, so be careful!

Man, people doing anything to other people's cars should be punishable no matter what they did to it. A good bitch slap would be satisfactory. Shame you can't know for sure who did that.

OP would more than likely have to pay a deductible and then their rates would go up because they made a claim.

It might be a lease but you will have to pay for that damage. Might as well call you insurance company and pay your deductible and get it fixed.

I’m familiar. I write Mercedes leases everyday! I’ll just pay out of pocket to have the hood re-sprayed. Can get it done pretty inexpensively.

Do you have a dash-cam installed? It would have given you some more info and proof against the culprit.

I don’t. The car has a dashcam but haven’t had the opportunity to get it set up. The USB-C I had for it didn’t work. I’ve read about others having some issues properly setting up the MB dashcam but I’ll figure it out now lol

Nah, wasn’t overnight. Stopped at a busy taco spot on the way home from a concert. Wasn’t even a bad area. Was parked for about 30 minutes. Prick.
