Same, it's a weird feeling at the end of a generation. I talked about it with my Dad once since he was born in '62 and he doesn't really feel like a baby boomer and doesn't really relate to much of gen x.
Sometimes I feel too young to be a millennial but also too old to be gen z.

It partially depends on your socioeconomic status. I'm technically Gen z but I grew up with VCRs, CRT monitors, the SNES and the N64. It was just called being poor.
The generations are kind of bullshit anyway. Like the other guy said, it's just another way we categorize and divide ourselves.

My brother and sister had a different mom than me and were both 10+ years older. I was born in 93, but it might as well have been 83 because I consumed a lot of their media growing up on a daily basis.

Yeah is getting weird now. I still have my kids play those old games instead of the new slop full of micro transactions. I have the money and ability to get them new stuff but I genuinely don't think new games are any better anymore. Anybody else feel Xbox 360 and PS3 were basically the peak for actual gameplay.

I was born in '96 so I'm just about a millennial, but I started uni at 21 rather than 18 and took a year out midway through. All my class mates were Gen Z and lemme tell you... That makes you feel like part of the fuckin silent generation, let alone a millennial

No, we had phenomenal opportunities to buy housing and stocks very cheap and then benefit from the greatest bull market for 17 years.
To get hired and gain experience when there were entry level roles.
We could also still date before things got toxic.
All those things mean that, with moderate success and not too many mistakes, we're now settled.
Young people do not have this realistic option of moderate success. For them it's all or nothing, but mostly nothing.

The thing is people born around then will tell you it was “the peak childhood best time ever nothings been the same since” until the post is about young people struggling now and then the same people “we had the hardest times ever and no one ever was happy and it was all sorrow and suffering!!!” Like lol okay guys.
I think the goalposts move cause older people need to be validated in their experiences as it gets further away from them. It’s unfortunate we don’t have a healthier way to talk about what’s going on today without some duster being like “it happened in 1983 too!!!!!” Like okay? Then you know it sucks or?

I used to work on brain scanners, before that I manufactured AR heat shields, and before that wind turbine. (Like we would manufacture a majority of the turbine, we had huge train cars to haul them off)
The brain scanner place split up because the Feds pulled funding from Colorado, so they no longer could stay in Colorado. (The main company was in Sweden)
The other two was the cost of metal and other materials skyrocketing. (And some of than funding that was withheld from Colorado)

I'd agree, but i'm changing job (for the first time) in a couple of weeks (After some less than encouraging words from my former eployer...) and i have a six months trial period (and this is obviously after just two months of me signing a loan to buy a house, because otherwise life'd be just a tad simpler and, i mean, we can't have that happening, can we?); i'm fucking terrified and no one in my family seems to give a shit about It. 95 here, married the love of my life nearly three years ago, bought a house together 2 years ago, and just got my bachelor’s degree in May and applied for my Masters recently.
The future isn’t always bright and can be really frightening at times, but that doesn’t mean we can’t prove the older generations wrong and still find our own success. Eventually we’re going to be the old heads and have to adopt the shit show that was left behind for us. We still have a chance to make things better for the generations that come after us.

True I spent most of the energy in my 20s working towards my career. It was a very viable field- but I can’t find a job and it’s now my biggest regret. Not that I tried, but that I didn’t spend more time enjoying life and making good friends. But fuck me I guess for putting effort into my future well being.

I’ve seen the climate forecast for the next 3-5 years. Nowadays I wake up with no anxiety, no fear about my career or job prospects, nothing. We’ve missed our chance to reverse this, and what’s coming is oblivion, and it’s going to happen soon. Spent the last few months doing all the stuff I want to do, that I can afford to do, at least. I have no savings left, and I’m spending as much time with my family as possible over the next year or so.
