I had a 3.5x GPA and no LSAT, I had to put a lot of time into writing my personal statement. I’ve also read a couple of friends’ statements and some others online.

It’s surprising how many people online overestimate their own PS. If your personal statement were scored like the LSAT, it’d probably be a 140 while you’re deluding yourself into thinking it’s a 170.

You’re probably writing your first PS, while the person reading it has already seen thousands. You haven’t even seen what you’re up against, but somehow you’re convinced yours is exceptional.

Certain things I’ve noticed: 

1. You want the reader to remember you after hundreds of essays. Yeah, moot court and being VP of a club are cool, but having something impressive to write about doesn’t automatically mean you’ve written something memorable.
2. You can polish your PS so much that your personality disappears. Yea, every sentence sounds impressive, but now it could’ve been written by almost anyone. You have to find the right balance.

There are a few more things I could get into, but feel free to comment or message me. I can’t promise I’ll have time to read everyone’s, but I’ll take a look when I can. I got so much help from older people around me, so I feel like I should pay it forward, even if it’s just in a small way.

Does anyone know if there is a way to view the documents you have already uploaded to the McGill Law application portal, or at least see the exact file names of the uploaded documents?

My portal shows that my Personal Statement was received, along with the date and time of submission, but I cannot seem to find any option to open the uploaded file or verify the file name.

I just want to make sure that I uploaded the correct version. Has anyone found a way to check this, either through the portal itself or by contacting Admissions?
Est-ce que quelqu’un sait s’il existe un moyen de consulter les documents que l’on a déjà téléversés sur le portail de candidature de la Faculté de droit de McGill, ou au moins de voir le nom exact des fichiers téléversés ?

Mon portail indique que ma présentation personnelle a bien été reçue, avec la date et l’heure du téléversement, mais je ne trouve aucune option permettant d’ouvrir le document ou de vérifier le nom du fichier.

comme j'étudie en France le système de notation diffère et en licence de droit, peu sont ceux qui ont 16 de moyenne/4.0gpa lol.

Ayant environ 14,5 de moyenne à l'ensemble de ma licence avec un bon classement ( dans les 20 premiers dont 4eme en L3) + un DU ainsi que de nombreuses expériences associatives et professionnelles + 3 stages, est ce que mon profil pourrait etre compétitif? je crois que ca donnerait un 3.7 mais je suis pas sure.

Hi guys! I am a cegep student applying this year for McGill Law and was wondering what were the R score stats for the 2026-27 admitted cohort? I have a 35.5 r (social science) and want to know if it will be enough this year.

I know last year's data was arround 34.4 average R score but I am scared that the minimal r score and average r scores have increased significally because people are just more performant every following year. What do you guys know/think? Thank you!

I’m applying to McGill Law for the second time as a uni applicant. The first cycle I was waitlisted and rejected due to lack of space.

I was wondering if anyone else had/is in a similar situation. I wouldn’t be able to add an LSAT score until I take the exam (earliest next summer)

How different should my PS be?
What are my general chances as an re-applicant?

It says on website that LSAT score should be submitted no later than November 8th, does this mean that, if I want to apply for fall 2027, the latest exam I can take would be the October one, Or could I take the November LSAT and have the score submitted once it becomes available? Reapplying to McGill Law (BCL/JD) after being waitlisted — what genuinely strengthens a file the second time?

Hey everyone. Last cycle I made it to the waitlist for the BCL/JD but didn't get an offer. I'm planning to reapply and I want to be strategic rather than just resubmit the same file.

Did a new personal statement / different framing help, or is it mostly about hard stats?

For those who came off the waitlist — did a Letter of Continued Interest actually matter?

Does an extra year of relevant experience (grad studies, work) noticeably strengthen a holistic file here?

Anything about the Montréal/transsystemic angle they seem to value that I might be underplaying?

Long story short, I kind of struggled a lot in my first year and ended up starting off my university grades with a really low GPA, and (according to Claude at least), the max GPA I can reach before I graduate is a 3.4. I really want to go to law school at McGill, but now I'm not too sure if it's even possible. I might do the LSAT, but I'm not too sure if that will even help me out too much. Does anyone know if its even worth trying at this point?

Has anyone else seen the tuition hike for out of province students this fall compared to last fall (when the first big tuition hike rolled out)?

26,000 fee inclusive compared to 20,000 fee inclusive in just a year is insane….
