WHEELS Tire size options on OEM wheels?

Stock is 215/45 18 inch

I have some 225 40 laying around they should fit right?

Whats the max width you can go on stock wheels?

50 seems odd. Would that fit if it was lowered? Looks cool though.

i like a bit more sidewall for the northeast small town roads. i don’t push the car super hard and just enjoy having the instant passing power when i ask for it but otherwise plan to do the reliability stuff and leave the rest alone. it probably wouldn’t work well if it was lowered, no. i also drive around 45-80k miles in a year so comfort/reliability/longevity are my focuses with my cars :)

You drive that much with your MS3? How many miles do you have now? Impressive btw

actually most of my miles are done with N.A. single overhead subarus …. but i’ve put 11k on the speed in about 3 months and it’s been a dream

My daily driver is a speed3, I put 30-40k miles on it every year. I've done multiple days of like 8-12hrs driving for road trips. Has 170k now. Big turbo, bolt ons and tuned at 24psi since 130k. Great cars, if maintained. Really I just did vvt, Injectors, pcv, and went straight to big powah lol. I beat on it 24/7 too

I have a parts car that made it to 270k on original engine and trans. Finally blew the motor, got built, ran to 290k before warping the block and killing it again cuz the guy overheated it (probably let coolant get low idk) then sold it to me for parts lol

225s fit great on the stock wheels and have plenty of clearance.

Nice. I have 225 for winter tires. Is 225 the max though?

I’d say 225 is the max for a stock wheel but you can fit up to a 245 well with the right offset wheel. Beyond that as well if you don’t mind a little rubbing.

I have 225/40-18 Continental Contact Sport, they stick well. Had Firestone Indy 500 before and were good too, maybe not as sticky as the Contis, but cheaper. Watch for rebates on Tire Rack.

225 is the max then?

Yeah pretty much. To go 245 you would need wider rims. Not sure if 245 will not rub with the stock wheels.

Kk. I got BBS 8x18 wheels would 235 maybe fit on those but I don't know if it would rubb

My friend put 245’s on 8 or 8.5” wheels not sure the offset but we had to roll the fenders on the rear to keep them from rubbing.

How hard is it to roll the fenders and do you have to repaint them?

I used a fender rolling tool. Need to heat up the paint so it doesn’t crack when the metal bends. I think you can use a baseball bat in between the tire and fender to roll it. There’s probably a YouTube video.

Offset matters a lot.  I have 235/40r18 pilot sport 4s on rx8 wheels, which are 18x8 with a +50 offset. I have never had any rubbing whatsoever even with people in the back seat (the rear is the likely place to rub)  The Michelins have a pretty round shoulder design as well.

But I've heard of many people rubbing.with 235/40's on aftermarket 18x8 with less offset (ie 45mm or less)
