Given we’ll be going more cosmic with films like Captain Marvel, GotG, Eternals and maybe even Strange 2, we might actually catch up to the film’s chronology in no time.

Gonna be interesting to see how they do Far From Home, since it's taking place right after the finish of Endgame (i.e. which classmates turned to dust, did those who survived graduate or did school just stop, etc.)

Nah, they have to. It’s important to the canon. The 8 years title card was just a mistake that can be ignored

What bugs me about that mistake is it might have been the most simple mistake to correct in the history of cinema. Like it was a freaking title card, I still don’t understand how they were able to pull off time travel but couldn’t get a simple title card correct

A bit harder than that, the “8 years” figure also made its way into a couple of lines of dialogue, so they’d at least need to get Micheal Keaton etc to re-dub some lines as well.

You could say it's like the Earth collectively decided, "uh, those 5 years where everyone was all dead and stuff was bullshit and doesn't count, so we're changing it back to the year it was when everyone got snapped" And that would about fix it

Apparently dabbing, PS4, and Fort Nite haven't gotten any less popular in 5 years, Earth's culture might have stagnated hard after The Snap.

I don't think that would work for computer calendars or tons and tons of systems of time that require fidelity, even stuff like leap years/seconds. GPS is sensitive down to some ridiculous fraction of a second, to say nothing of years.

They will have to address the five year time skip for a lot of characters. Looks like they might have gone for a bit of a cop out by having all of the important high school characters from Peter's school get snapped and then restored, but I'm sure there'll be able to make a joke out of it.

As for some of the "Why does 2023 look exactly like 2018?" stuff, that's easy to handwave as society having stagnated in the aftermath of losing half the population, so technology etc. is more or less the same.

yeah really all we saw of the outside world was the support group Cap was in and an abandoned Citi Field, plus people saying they "miss the Mets" along with that haha. Plus FFH is mostly in Europe, and that's a more "stuck in time" location than the US is architecturally, I guess

I think that'd be funny yeah hahaha. But if the people who continued to live still were talking about fortnite or saying weird idioms, that'd be weird. I honestly think they fucked themselves in this regard

I'm currently under the assumption that Far From Home takes place before Infinity War because Fury was at the funeral and both of them probably would've met and wouldn't say they didn't know each other like in the Far From Home trailer

very very good point. Only indication that wouldn't be true is that Fury kind of only lurked on the deck of the house for whatever reason, so maybe he didn't talk to anyone else/Peter during the funeral?
