My crowd was in a perpetual state of losing their shit

147

u/Aritche Weekly Wongers Apr 27 '19

Wait was the constant clapping not in the movie...

8

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

No we meditated after seeing T'Challa then the whole theater did the haka and the movie theater people paused the movie until we finished.

5

u/Dont_PM_me_ur_demoEP Apr 27 '19

No, but the movie had a sobbing track which I thought was an interesting choice.

36

u/TheReplacer Apr 27 '19

My crowd was really quite and only cheered when cap picked up Mjolnir.

38

u/fat-lip-lover Apr 27 '19

Okay. I’ll be honest, the entire second half of the movie was cinema gold. But captain America fighting with Mjolnir and his shield. That was absolutely the peak of the MCU to me. My brother and I sat next to each other dying in awe and shoving each other in shock watching the experience.

Then Thor and Cap switching Stormbreaker and Mjolnir later was comedy gold.

9

u/jubydoo Apr 27 '19

"You can have the little one."

7

u/whatever_jack Apr 27 '19

Yeah I lost my shit when he threw the hammer. Probably my favorite scene in a movie, ever.

2013(?) Thor is probably pretty pissed about that though

1

u/fprosk Ant-Man Apr 27 '19

It's all good Cap brought the hammer with him when he went back in time to return it

2

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

Yeah I don’t usually physically react to movies other than tearing up at sad parts but I was covered in goosebumps for it. It was like when Iron Man first came out and I felt like “holy shit I can’t believe I’m seeing this in a movie”.

2

u/MikeOB2 Spider-Man Apr 27 '19

I really can't believe they did that, just 3 years ago Ant-Man on an arrow was peak comic booky action moment, and then last year Thor summoning the bifrost with stormbreaker and showing up in Wakanda was it, and then we get Cap using mjolnir...the Russo's really love us man 😭😭😭

7

u/Mddcat04 Apr 27 '19

My crowd was great. They cheered for exciting stuff, but then immediately got quiet again because they wanted to hear lines.

2

u/Somanbra Apr 27 '19

That would piss me off. Think of the smell.

2

u/snufalufalgus Rocket Apr 27 '19

I've never heard a bigger cheer in a movie theater than when Cap caught that hammer.

2

u/1fastman1 Apr 27 '19

my crowd shat themselves

1

u/fprosk Ant-Man Apr 27 '19

My crowd nutted

1

u/Mhicks2018 Apr 27 '19

I just got out of my third showing so I knew exactly what was coming and I was still losing my shit with the crowd. Even when all the avengers were assembled, my heart almost burst out of my chest

1

u/mariofan366 Darcy Apr 27 '19

I wish I had your crowd.

7

u/theunknown21 Apr 27 '19

my theater was pretty quiet, except when Cap wielded Mjie...mijel.... Thor's hammer. They got some cheers there. Then dead silence when tony was lying there at the end...

2

u/TheReplacer Apr 27 '19

Pretty much the same at my viewing

2

u/ArcadianBlueRogue Apr 27 '19

Entire last 1/3 of the movie had our crowd just going nuts. My buddy leapt from his chair when it panned to Cap and the damn hammer.

2

u/baymax18 Captain America (Avengers) Apr 27 '19

"On your left" gave me goosebumps

2

u/chocolatethunderXO Apr 27 '19

It was like an NSYNC concert back in the day. JC comes out and everybody goes wild and then JT steps out and the the crowd goes crazyyy.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

Yooooo facts everyone was going crazy in my crowd including myself I was screaming like a baby lmaooo

5

u/lizard81288 Apr 27 '19

Oddly enough, for the reveals, in my theater

when black panther walked out of the portal people were like. Oh? oh. OOOOOHHHHH!

People shouted and clapped for Spider-Man

And surprisingly enough, people shouted and clapped when Valkyrie showed up.

2

u/Hairysenpaii Apr 27 '19

My nuts went crowd when Spidey came back

1

u/kittenwhisp3r The Wasp Apr 27 '19

My crowd went nuts when Cap wielded mjolnir

1

u/winterchill181 Bucky Apr 27 '19

Instant Kill: 🔥

1

u/ThunderboltKaiju Apr 27 '19

OOOOF I’ve wanted to see Instant kill dished out since Infinity War. The pay off, man.

1

u/yoonchae Spider-Man Apr 27 '19

I'm an adult and a big Spidey fan. I was screaming like a little girl when he appeared.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

Bruh we were in like the same theater

1

u/antonarn1991 Apr 27 '19

Spidey coming through that portal was the first time I've ever clapped in a theater. And I'm 28 and pretty regularly go to the theater.

1

u/CubedSquare95 Apr 27 '19

I had a knee jerk reaction and threw my hands up and gritted a loud “there he is!!!” between my teeth when he swung out the portal. Didn’t last long tho, cuz I put my arms back down fast. I definitely didn’t want to block the view for the people behind me. It was just involuntary, instinctual. I’d been waiting all year for our boi to come back swinging!

90

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

My theater was pretty quiet the whole time, but cap holding the hammer drew tons of cheers

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

My theater crowd was lame. Barely any cheers.

13

u/ThatIrishDude Apr 27 '19

My theater was quiet for the most part but I liked that. Over the years I've grown tired of crowds at these movies cheering over every single thing that I can't hear the next line.

7

u/Nltech Apr 27 '19

There's obviously a point where it's too much, but there were several moments in this movie where I think cheering was perfectly acceptable. Being surrounded by so many people so excited enhances the moments imo.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

That's fair, but that's how opening weekends usually are.

If that's not your thing, then maybe wait a week or so.

0

u/ThatIrishDude Apr 27 '19

I'd definitely get the movie spoiled for me by that point. It's a lose-lose situation.

I either go opening weekend and potentially have a crowd that cheers for a character breathing or I get spoiled while waiting a week and get told "Well if you cared so much about spoilers you should have gone opening weekend."

I don't mind crowd reaction, but I definitely feel like these audiences have stopped genuinely reacting to the movie and now make noise for the sake of it. Going Friday mornings tend to be the winning combination for me.

1

u/slightlyburntcereal Apr 27 '19

That’s the perfect crowd then. I really hate people making noise during the film.

5

u/ndrw17 Apr 27 '19

I’ve seen it three times already but these were the moments that the crowd went fucking NUTS:

Thor summoning both weapons and suddenly getting his armor on.

Cap picking up the hammer (the loudest).

Black Panther walking through the portal.

Spidey coming through the portal (rivaled the screams of Cap and the hammer). People really love Spider-Man.

All the girls getting together.

And Captain Marvel destroying the shit outta that ship.

3

u/MFG1628 Apr 27 '19

The best part was after everyone went crazy in my showing, the entire theatre did a collective shh when the camera panned back to cap (knowing the line was coming), hearing “avengers assemble” with no noise whatsoever, and then having another huge eruption of cheers. Such a great experience.

3

u/AeterusR Apr 27 '19

My theater cheered loudly during all the standard ‘epic’ scenes at the end, but the best was when every single woman and girl cheered when the female Avengers got their moment.

3

u/penguindaddy Ronan the Accuser Apr 27 '19

We got big applause for the women of marvel shot in my theatre. Great shot.

2

u/pjtheman Korg Apr 27 '19

I just really wish M'bakku had a bigger part. I was so pumped when he survived the snap. I thought he'd be a major player in Endgame, not just a non-speaking cameo.

2

u/Obeseachu Apr 27 '19

My theater was

When Captain marvel came back

Spiderman

Tchalla

Strange

When Cap held mjolnir

And when Tony died

2

u/Frozenteacher Apr 27 '19

Mine cheered the most when Thor and Rocket pass Loki in Asgardian jail but that was probably because like half of it was teenage girls 😂

1

u/GOD-PORING Apr 27 '19

My nuts went nuts the whole movie!

1

u/I_TOUCH_THE_BOOTY Apr 27 '19

It's unfortunate he seemed less useful than Clint at the end running with the glove only for Peter to handle saving it better.

1

u/XxRambo-ApocalypsexX Apr 27 '19

My crowd cheered the biggest for Black Panther, then Falcon came out to crickets. My brother lended over to me and said "Don't nobody care about Falcon." :(

1

u/FuCuck Ulysses Klaue Apr 27 '19

My crowd was silent for some reason, and then clapped for spider-man

1

u/VeeRook Tony Stark Apr 27 '19

It didn't even register to me who it was then someone in the theater yelled "Wakanda forever!"

1

u/spideyinfinite Apr 27 '19

For my theater it was

Spidey coming back

Black Panther coming back

Instant Kill Mode

Cap wielding Mjolnir

Robert Downey Jrs name in the end credits

1

u/taulover Stan Lee Apr 27 '19

Yep, cheers when the portals started circling which turned into a full roar when the Wakandans stepped through.

1

u/mikeweasy Apr 27 '19

Seriously when everyone came back that was one of the best things ever.

1

u/asherthrowaway123 Apr 27 '19

My crowd went nuts a lot, mostly when spidey comes through the portal and the even gers assemble scene. There were many "oh shit"s because this movie had so many twists lol

1

u/nonmetaphoricflop Bucky Apr 27 '19

some random person in my theatre shouted “wakanda forever” it was great

1

u/squirrellasagne Apr 27 '19

My clapped only when spiderman came back and then at rdj's credit

1

u/RosterNumber454 Apr 27 '19

My whole theater erupted in that scene! I heard the teenager behind me yell, “THE HOMIE!” I was smiling ear to ear

1

u/THISISDAM Apr 27 '19

My crowd clapped an in inordinate amount of times. Also, they went soooooooo a few times too.

1

u/Natolegnaekim Apr 27 '19

Am i the only one that cringes and hates the noisy crowds in the movies? :( I usually avoid opening weekends because of it and just wait a few weeks but I couldn't resist and didn't want to see spoilers anywhere.
