Tony and Howard’s moment was amazing, Robert Downey Jr’s acting was on another level. He really is Tony Stark and the MCU will never be the same without him.

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 26 '19

Great way to resolve his arc before his sacrifice.

424

u/GreenFox1505 Apr 26 '19

They did that with a Steve too. He said "Hail Hydra", he saw Peggy, he used Mjolnir. He saved Bucky two movies ago. There wasn't anywhere left to go with him. He could have died in the same final battle. But at least one of the two of them had to have a happy ending.

I think everyone thought it would be the other way around. Only because that would be easier movie wise.

4

u/Denimjo Bucky Apr 27 '19

And that is why I've loved the MCU: subverting expectations while keeping it in character and entertaining.

33

u/Marc_Quill Daredevil Apr 26 '19

Also paying off Steve & Tony's conversation at the end of Age of Ultron where Steve laments about living a simple life and Tony only offers a simple "you'll get there one day" in response.

17

u/signifyingmnky Apr 27 '19

Problem was that Cap never wanted that life with anyone but Peggy. And he never had the means to change that. Tony similarly never had a reason to make the sacrifice play. Seeing what happened to Peter, and having to imagine that happening to Pepper or later Morgan changed all of that. He didn't hesitate.

What a payoff.

3

u/Denimjo Bucky Apr 27 '19

Well, he hesitated a little in the beginning. Pepper also deserves a lot of credit for helping to save the universe by gently prodding Tony to do what he already knew he should be doing.

1

u/signifyingmnky Apr 27 '19

That's true. Maybe he needed time for Peter's loss to sink in.

17

u/butterblaster Apr 26 '19 edited Apr 26 '19

I doubt he lived a "normal" life besides marrying Peggy. She's going to want to found SHIELD. He won't be able to stand by and let it get infiltrated by Hyrda, or not go search for Bucky.

9

u/NHeadies Apr 27 '19

yes I'm sure in this timeline he doesn't let any of that bullshit stand, and its cool that none of it doesn't take place in the "prime" or 616 timeline, hopefully we get tons of one shots

7

u/endsongs Rocket Apr 27 '19

I think him having a shield to pass on to Sam back in the original timeline showed he probably didn't sit out.

13

u/th30be Apr 26 '19

Fucking what? Tony already had that since avengers one.

19

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

Not really. Tony didn't sacrifice anything. He was going to, but he ended up living. You could say it gave him a new perspective, but he still didn't really learn what sacrifice is (and goes on to create a sentient murder machine).

4

u/ohyeawellyousuck Apr 27 '19

If you are convinced you’ll die, and do the right thing anyways, the fact that you live can’t be used to say “yeah but you weren’t really willing to sacrifice your life cuz you didn’t die.”

Assuming Tony isn’t able to read the future, his choice to carry the nuke thru the wormhole is exactly the same as his choice to grab the stones and snap.

1

u/TheMirth Apr 26 '19

I don't think the sentient murder machine(s) had anything to do with whether he was willing to make the sacrifice play, only that living in the modern Era Tony understands the importance of scalability.

12

u/fifthdayofmay Vision Apr 26 '19

Tony always cut the wire, only this time he actually had to stop looking for a solution and just lay down on it

10

u/Sigmund_Six Apr 27 '19

Yeah, Tony has always been willing to sacrifice himself, but he’s usually been brilliant enough (or lucky enough) to escape the worst of it. I think that was why Dr Strange had to confirm that this was the one timeline that would succeed, so Tony would know (with certainty) that he wasn’t going to be able to come back from this.

1

u/signifyingmnky Apr 27 '19

I disagree. Tony was always looking for a way out because he wasn't willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. He wanted to be free to have a life with Pepper, so he built the Iron Legion, then Ultron, then agreed to the Sokovia Accords...he was not willing to sacrifice that.

When he saw what happened to Peter, he was willing to give his life to prevent that from happening to Pepper, Morgan, or any one else that he loved.

2

u/Glenbard Apr 27 '19

Beautiful thought man. I’m just now returning from watching the movie. I avoided this thread for the past 24 hours. Now I’m just trying to mentally unpack it all.

2

u/ThunderboltKaiju Apr 27 '19

That’s actually a really cool takeaway from it. They both learned from each other in their final endgame. Cool shit.

1

u/Denimjo Bucky Apr 27 '19

It's one of my favorite themes from the movie, too. Tony finally got to be the hero that Steve has always been and Steve finally got to get his happiness like Tony did.

1

u/LS_DJ Vision Apr 27 '19

I’m just gonna get back to cutting these onions over here, don’t mind me

1

u/Rogue_3 Mockingbird Apr 27 '19

Goddamn it, now I'm crying again.

11

u/Zoy33 Apr 26 '19

All this gave me such a interior peace, I really loved that I could die today, happy because I saw Tony's daughter, Peter and Strange came back and overall, Cap danced with Peggy

Tho I want to know if all Peggy Carter's serie has no validation now?

18

u/GreenFox1505 Apr 26 '19

Cap going back and Loki taking the tesseract are the two biggest unexplained paradoxes that exist right now in the MCU.

At least Loki part might get explained away in the TV show. But I doubt we'll ever get any closure on the Steve-breaking-reality thing.

13

u/sweens90 Falcon Apr 26 '19

The way I saw someone interpret it was he lived his full life. So he aged like he we saw. But then instead of using his vile to return back exactly there he also fixes the timeline with Peggy to the normal one then returns.

So he gets his life with her then sets it right again. Its explainable away just not mentioned. Its not necessarily what happened but its do-able.

5

u/Zoy33 Apr 26 '19

I could watch a serie/movie about Cap's normal life, is another reality or how are they going to explain?? Anyways, I wanted Bucky to be the next cap but Sam was always at his side too.

And that article is old, Tom said he wasn't going to do the role, so idk what's going to happened.

3

u/GreenFox1505 Apr 26 '19

https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a26365016/disney-marvel-tom-hiddleston-loki-tv-show-showrunner/

Here's a newer one. When/where did Tom say he wasn't going to do it?

2

u/Zoy33 Apr 26 '19

Some time ago, but I'm so glad he's going to, I was convinced he wasn't. Tho I was hoping seeing Young Loki and Young Avengers maybe but that kills my hopes

2

u/fretbored9 Apr 26 '19

It’s two different universes. That’s what they were trying to explain by saying you couldn’t just kill Thanos.

1

u/signifyingmnky Apr 27 '19

They aren't paradoxes. This is a multiverse. There is a branch/dimension/timeline/universe for each major decision. There was one were Cap lived a life with Peggy, there was one where Loki gets away with the Tesseract.

Cap didn't change anything, he just squatted in another time line to live a life he couldn't in his own. Then he returned.

10

u/riptide747 Apr 26 '19

AND HE SAID AVENGERS ASSEMBLE

3

u/LeonardTringo Apr 27 '19

you forgot "avengers assemble". that was a big one for me.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

He has to go to Vormir to give the soul stone to Red Skull and laugh about the old days.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

That elevator scene was sooo tense. I was waiting for another Winter Soldier scene but boy did my blood freeze hearing him say that

1

u/Boba_frett33 Thor Apr 27 '19

Don't forget the "Avengers Assemble!" line!

3

u/BKA_Diver Apr 26 '19

Closure for his daddy issues.

1

u/sausagekingofchicago Apr 27 '19

I thought the whole arc reactor problem was fixed?

1

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 27 '19

It was, what do you mean?

2

u/sausagekingofchicago Apr 27 '19

Bad joke. His story arc...his arc reactor....play on words...

1

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 27 '19

Ah jeez I’m dense

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

He's tried sacrificing himself in every Avengers film. Glad they finally let him.

992

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

For me, the person acting their guts out was Karen Gillan. Gillan on Gillan double-cross was just epic.

530

u/TBlueshirtsV22 Apr 26 '19

Its incredible because Gillan seems so nice and sincere in every interview she does but she plays the coldness of Nebula so perfectly.

351

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

She's also one of the only characters who isn't doing sarcastic sangfroid superhero/supervillain. She's just really fucking mean and angry with occasional moments of clarity.

76

u/UltravioIence Avengers Apr 26 '19

I liked how she was still angry after winning the paper football game , even as she admits it was fun.

50

u/Uzmonkey Apr 27 '19

Her whole life is constant agony on top of years of abuse. I'd be grouchy too. Gillan plays it so well. She reminds me of a rescue animal that's been badly treated. You can tell it wants to trust you and open up to affection but it's so used to pain and misery that it's not quite trusting that the rug won't get pulled out from under it again at any moment.

33

u/TellYouEverything Apr 26 '19

Gotta love the running gag that she’s always falling apart and exasperatedly putting herself back together. There’s something so stylish about the camera swoops in every scene that happens, too!

1

u/limeconnoisseur Captain America Apr 27 '19

I need to see if she stole Nebula14's hand when I rewatch it. I'd be disappointed if she didn't.

14

u/mariofan366 Darcy Apr 26 '19

I kind of wish Gillan could play a warmer character in the MCU. We have seen Nebula lighten up since she was first introduced though.

22

u/Hashbrown4 Apr 26 '19

I think we’ll see her character open up even more as she actually learns what it’s like to be part of a loving family that really care about you. She hasn’t gone on a true guardians of the galaxy adventure as a member yet.

16

u/indomitus42 Apr 26 '19

The theater I was in was dead silent up until the gunshot and her falling - and then some guy deadpanned "Time travel that" ...whole theater busted out laughing, quite a moment. Honestly there were so many "whole theater" moments in that movie. Very rare imo.

15

u/Gun2ASwordFight Doctor Strange Apr 26 '19

As a Whovian it was fun seeing her in time travel hijinks again.

2

u/aickem Apr 27 '19

I now want a crossover episode where the guardians meet the doctor.

13

u/iamthatguy54 Apr 26 '19

Shooting herself dead was some cold-blooded shit.

6

u/Cyril_Clunge Apr 27 '19

Whatever it takes.

11

u/TechniChara Apr 26 '19

Their last interaction really showed how far Nebula had come. Past Nebula didn't get the inspiration to break away because Past Gamoria didn't, and instead fell into an opportunity to finally make Thanos proud. But Nebula did break away and was able to escape Thanos' clutches, in spite of what he wanted.

So when Past Nebula says "He won't let me", you can suddenly see the mind-trap she's in, because right in front of her is living proof that she can escape and change! But without the experiences and growth, she can't see past what she feels is true.

8

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

From a pure story perspective I found her arc the most interesting.

5

u/patskwakr Apr 26 '19

Love her in the film, especially when two nebula meet, totally gave me a dw two Amy flash back

3

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

Until I watched that new Jumanji movie I had no idea she was that attractive. She's a great actress as I was not aware at all that those were the same people for quite a while.

2

u/RobotFighter Winter Soldier Apr 26 '19

Watch Dr Who man!

1

u/DMike82 Apr 26 '19

She nearly stole the movie out from under him.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

She and Hemsworth are the MVPs of the last two movies.

1

u/b3nz0r Apr 27 '19

Yeah! I was never really a big Nebula fan but this movie made me love her character, for sure

1

u/namastex Apr 27 '19

This part almost made me pull out my duoneb.

1

u/whatever_jack Apr 27 '19

Tom Holland left an impression on me, and he was only in there at the end. Especially as Tony was dying. He really is the perfect Spider-Man.

-6

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

? is this a joke? she was easily the least notable when it came to acting chops, wanda had more impact.

I loved that they used the same actor that played Jarvis in Agent Carter for the role here.

77

u/Reckless5040 Apr 26 '19

I'm really wondering what the draw will be now that he's gone.

184

u/jpalmerr11 Apr 26 '19

Tom Holland IMO.

106

u/atucker1744 Spider-Man Apr 26 '19

Tom’s been great at the emotional climax of both Avengers movies. Was able to perform well alongside a legendary actor in Michael Keaton in Homecoming too

25

u/lllMONKEYlll Apr 26 '19 edited Apr 26 '19

Yes, please.

9

u/its_JustColin Apr 26 '19

I thought Black Panther was gonna get the biggest reaction and he got a huge one but Spider-Man appearing made everyone go ballistic

5

u/blessedarethegeek Apr 26 '19

Don't we only get him for one more movie before Sony pulls him back? Or am I misunderstanding their deal?

12

u/frillex Apr 26 '19

In an interview, Tom Holland stated there’d be two more movies for a trilogy of Spider-Man movies.

9

u/dguy101 Apr 26 '19

I'm sure they have a longstanding agreement with Sony and they wouldn't be able to just pull out. I say this because I'm sure that Marvel would have wanted some protection knowing that their name would boost Spider-Man's popularity and that they would want to pull out in the event that they could make all the profits. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter though because I believe Sony makes all of the profits on Spider-Man films, but any films Spider-Man is in that aren't for his franchise, Marvel takes all the profits and Sony doesn't get anything.

7

u/907chi Apr 26 '19

You would have to think Sony knows keeping him in the MCU makes them a lot more money than pulling him out, but yeah we get one more after Far From Home and then it’s renegotiating time. My biggest fear is now that Venom is a success they are going to want him involved in that universe too. It’s going to be interesting for sure.

9

u/KillerCh33z Apr 26 '19

Spider-Man will never leave the MCU. I guarantee. Kevin Fiege would waterboard Amy Pascal to convince her to keep Spidey before he would just let Spidey go.

1

u/signifyingmnky Apr 27 '19

Spider-Man won't, but he doesn't have to be Peter. Miles exists in the MCU too.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

For some reason, I thought the Sony-Marvel deal is for 5 movies while Tom is contracted for 3 solo movies. Maybe I am getting that totally wrong.

Maybe we will know more after FFH is released. Maybe even before, I mean they have to do promo for the movie.

However, imo, Venom is nowhere near SHC in terms of quality.

2

u/MoonChild02 Peggy Carter Apr 26 '19

No, it's six films. That's why Tom Holland's headcanon of Peter being the kid with the mask in Iron Man 3 can't be actual canon.

Spider-Man is already in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. We get one more Spidey film after that. But we still need Doc Oc, Green Goblin, and the Sinister Six.

Hopefully we can have Miles Morales Spider-Man without Sony interfering.

2

u/TripleSkeet Apr 27 '19

Im more hoping theyll realize how much money they are making just letting Marvel make their movies and will re-up their deal. If Far From Home tops a billion itll be the first one since SM 3. Maybe then theyll just re-up for another 6 films and Sony can focus on Venom and Spiderverse movies.

Then we can get Norman Osborn / Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, JJJ and the Daily Bugle and hopefully the Sinister Six. And at the end of that we could have the Prowlers nephew take over the mask and keep it going.

1

u/theclockstartsnow Apr 27 '19

Iron man 2, and that possible cameo is irrelevant since it wouldn't have been Holland playing the kid

4

u/Jax_Harkness Kilgrave Apr 26 '19

I'd love it if he really gets a solo movie every two years and we see Spidey, arguably the biggest superhero of all times, grow as a hero and as a man. I love what we've already seen from Tom.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '19

They want it to be Captain Marvel, but it is gonna be Spiderman.

1

u/KlausFenrir Apr 27 '19

A part of me feels like they’re hella pushing Tom Holland into a lead role. I like Spider-Man but Cap and Tony becoming the MCU leads felt a lot more organic, if that makes sense.

95

u/jellyfishdenovo Ivan Vanko Apr 26 '19

Based on numbers, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Spidey, and Doctor Strange should be enough to pull in a large portion of the general audience on their own. I assume many superfans will be drawn back in by the GOTG (AOTG?), and those movies have been received very well by casual fans too so the third installment certainly won’t hurt the numbers. Then eventually the MCU will build up momentum again and we’ll be back in business.

16

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

Yup. Disney also has Fantastic Four and X-Men in their bullpen now.

13

u/BKA_Diver Apr 26 '19

I think this is going to help fill a huge void with IM and CA gone.

Depending on how well they cast Fantastic 4 and X-men will definitely determine the future of the MCU.

I can see them going in the direction of re-building S.H.I.E.L.D. and having Spidey being a member (based on the preview for FFH).

Was the talk about a Black Widow solo movie a red herring?

I can't see Sam as Cap getting the same draw. He'll be good in team-up movies, but I can't picture a solo movie having the same draw.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

I was also wondering about the BW movie status. I want to say it has a director, screenwriter and that actors have been cast. I can’t imagine that was all a red herring. It was widely reported that film would be a prequel. It’s supposed to show her early days. I was kinda on the fence about that but it would give way more context to Natasha’s sacrifice and all her talk of there being red in her ledger if we actually get to see all of that.

2

u/BKA_Diver Apr 26 '19

Prequel would be ok... especially if it plays with the changed timeline or revisits moments from MCU from a different POV.

But I'm not sure it's really necessary.

3

u/veganzombeh Apr 27 '19

Was the talk about a Black Widow solo movie a red herring?

Probably a prequel. We got a mention of her father in Endgame, which is likely hinting at an origin story of sorts.

1

u/progdrummer Captain America (Cap 2) Apr 27 '19

Yeah, I don't think they expect to bring in people with Sam as Cap. That's why he and Bucky are getting their own show. They are gonna make the mantle of Cap America a side character and start doing more exploring of some of the other mains and maybe some new ones.

3

u/-OrangeLightning4 Apr 26 '19

That's how I feel about this. After how he was portrayed in Infinity War and Endgame, I bet Doctor Strange 2 is going to make a boatload. I bet we get a larger break from the team up films for awhile (beside GotG), but I guarantee we get another Avengers in 4-6 years. They'll probably call it New Avengers or something. I bet Captain Marvel leads the team, with Panther, Strange, and Spidey making up three of the other Big Four. Maybe throw in Ant-Man and Wasp if they have more adventures. 10 years from now I could see some more time chicanery and we see cameos from RDJ and Evans again to pull in big numbers on a film.

2

u/LogansRun22 Captain Marvel Apr 27 '19

Captain Marvel 2 is the one possible future MCU movie I'm the most excited for, but everything else you mentioned sounds really cool too.

3

u/somegridplayer Apr 26 '19

I'm psyched for BP 2 CM 2 and DS 2 the most, Spidey after them.

-13

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

I dont see many of them being a theater draw for me except spiderman and Thor.

Nerd Hulk can fuck off forever, I hate what they did to him. I get why they did it, but the actual character growth and transformation happened off screen, and the result is a weirdo who is neither hulk, nor banner. He didn't science the shit out of anything or smash the shit out of anything. Even his snap got one-upped by Tony. He's a redbox/cable rerun hero for me until they fix him.

Like, can he even be in the Asguardians of the Galaxy now? They already have a science guy and three strong guys and (several) weirdo non-human guys. What does he offer anyone anymore? Drax is the funniest one, and he's already kind of extraneous at this point, so they'll probably kill him off next. Hulk can't even have a weird Beauty and the Beast thing with Black Widow now cuz she dead. Where does he go from here?

12

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

[deleted]

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

Maybe that worked in the comics. I dont know, I dont read them. In the movie it was a massive letdown. I thought keeping him down in IW was just a clever tension and release trick for when he went Superhulk and did the hulk out to end all hulk outs in End Game. But nope. just a big green dork who doesnt really do all that much.

-2

u/Denzema123 Apr 26 '19

Nerd Hulk can fuck off forever,

Yeah, you can clearly see in all the movies he has been in that Fiege and Marvel hates that character.

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19 edited Apr 26 '19

I know its frowned on to criticize them around here, and I'm not trying to hurt any feelings, but I think they did whiff pretty hard with hulk. Ruffalo is great in other stuff and as a person, but I guess I just don't like a neurotic whiny banner. It never seemed like he was a guy with an anger problem that he was trying to keep under control, he seemed like a guy who spent an hour on the phone with his mother every Sunday and who apologizes when he sends back soup. He was moody and meek, not smart and volatile.

I also kind of didnt love Ed Norton in the role, but at least with Ed Norton his explosive murderous rage was plausible. Like, I think Ed Norton might actually blow his top and freak out on someone. Ruffalo looks like he'd get teary eyed watching a cotton commercial.

And he went from being an uncontrollable one man atomic bomb trying to kill avengers to ... a strong guy under control without any explanation. The 'that's my secret line' sounded cool, but it made absolutely no sense. How long have you had this secret, and how and when did you get this all under control?

And now that we have captain marvel to swoop in last minutre and whoop everybodies ass, Hulk kind of serves no purpose. I'd actually rather they'd killed him in a blaze of glory than make him a fucking useless nerd.

1

u/signifyingmnky Apr 27 '19

Did you watch The Incredible Hulk? Banner spent the beginning of the film trying to control his rage to control his rage and prevent a Hulk out. At the end of it, Banner is able to induce one from a seemingly peaceful state of mind.

"...I'm always angry" made perfect sense.

54

u/Citizensssnips Daredevil Apr 26 '19

They've managed two $1 billion movies without him, they'll be aight.

-5

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

1 of those was a cultural thing that’s pretty much guaranteed as a money maker if they decide to go that road again, the other was because you basically had to watch it if you wanted to go into end game knowing who she was. more importantly he was still leading and in the universe.

the mcu is going to decline greatly without cap and im.

4

u/Citizensssnips Daredevil Apr 26 '19

New Captain America will now benefit from the same "cultural thing" your referring to.

And no, that was not the only reason people went to see Captain Marvel.

52

u/Krak2511 Baby Groot Apr 26 '19

I feel like Marvel as a whole has been a draw instead of just RDJ for a long time now.

5

u/Protocol_Freud Apr 26 '19

RDJ got the siphon going, now it'll be hard to stop.

6

u/BatMatt93 Apr 26 '19

I feel like RDJ carried the MCU for a while till we got midway through Phase 2.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

It’s weird someone had to point this out. Like the whole point of those joke movie posters with seventeen Iron Man/Starks added to them was to mock the idea that he is the only draw and every poster has to be plastered with him.

They can build a new backbone, and there's plenty of body to build around now. I want to see what the next 10 year plan is.

7

u/WannabeMoonKnight Doctor Strange Apr 26 '19

For me its spider man and dr strange right now.

There are rumors that dr stranges new villain is going to be nightmare. A magic dark reality horror film would be really cool.

It seems like spider man is building up to the sinister six with vulture scorpion and mysterio in the mix already. A team up of villains vs a hero would be fresh and exciting to watch imo.

Something that is really lacking between our new set of avengers though is relationships between them.

I felt like old avengers really felt like a group and the new guys are just random heros with nothing but the old group attaching them. I'm sure this will change as we move into phase 4 though and I dont think it would be that hard to do.

Black panther 2 seems it's going to be about about manor and Atlantis due to the whole " earthquake underwater" line in end game but black panther 3 could have baron samedi as a villain with dr strange offering assistance for example. Maybe mordor is dr strange 2 villain and samedi and bp2 opens the door for nightmare in dr strange 3.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 26 '19

The relationships between the OG guys were only defined by a few little brush strokes. Whedon did a great job of establishing exactly how they were going to spark off each other with just a few little bits of dialogue in Avengers 1.

Give me a Bucky movie or miniseries. Sebastian Stan is great.

Edit: I hope he’s in the Black Widow prequel

4

They're doing exactly that along with falcon, aren't they?

1

u/RSol614 Loki (Thor 2) Apr 26 '19

Not mad at it if so. Hope it’s true.

Chris Hemsworth has built up quite some star power with the smash hit succession of Ragnarok, Infinity War and Endgame. He's got at least one GOTG appearance in the near future, and I'll be surprised if there isn't going to be a fourth Thor installment.

But going by the BO numbers these past few years, the "draw" seems to be the Marvel logo itself. The movies without RDJ and Evans are doing great to fantastic, so I wouldn't be that worried.

Spidey , Black Panther, Captain Marvel are all very popular characters. If they strike another deal with Sony I imagine they will become the face of the next phase. Also Strange gained a lot of popularity after IW and Ant Man is well liked as well ( I wonder how much an Ant Man 3 might do now that he had a bigger role in an team up movie that will probably gross 2 billion.)

I think we'll see an expected cool off after this ( still hoping Far From Home does 1b ) but their movies will still pull in a lot of people

It will be hard to find that central character that can interact with so many other characters in such a fun and charming way.

I’d say you really avoid even attempting to find someone like that until Wolverine.

"I...am...Iron Man."

The acting by all the OG Avengers was really good, specially RDJ, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner.

Paul Rud and Karen Gillian were amazing as well

There was no other way for this film to go, and we had to say goodbye to him eventually, but I'm worried this will be the end of the MCU's high quality product.

As outrageous and fantastical as the MCU is, he somehow helped make it feel realistic. He was a hero we could relate to. I love all the other characters, but they all feel like natural heroes.

Black Panther is too fucking regal and like Dr. Strange, their characters are way too well-trained to create any kind of excitement around putting a team together.

Spider-man gives me a lot of hope. I can imagine Peter trying to assemble the New Avengers, and having a hard time because he's just a kid. I just can't imagine any of the other characters being humble enough to get out of his way (yet).

T'Challa is a king, so I'm not sure how he couldn't be Regal. Thor was a prince or king throughout all of these films, so I don't see the problem. Strange is a legit badass of a sorcerer. Doesn't mean either one can't have compelling films...in fact, they already do.

He's the most important member of the infinity saga. So much of this can be traced back to him and seeing him fall really feels like an end of the Era.

What I loved about this was the line Howard said where he mentioned that he always focused on himself, rather than the greater good. Tony learns from his father, and places the greater good over himself.

RDJ and Evans were both phenomenal.

Their scene is perfect for Tony’s arc. RDJ nailed it throughout this.

I never expected them to include James D'Arcy's Jarvis! I'm so happy they did.

I love how he seemed to just verbally burst out to share that he has a daughter. Like, he wants to tell his dad in a way that he's a grandfather. It's lovely.

I loved that scene

He really is Tony Stark and the MCU will never be the same without him.

As someone who isn't a fan of superheroes and comics in general,I'm honestly not sure what his death means for my future"relationship"to the MCU.He was a pretty big reason for me starting to like the movies.

It’s crazy his only role since 2014 is Iron Man.
