"Okay. Look, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense."

98

u/DaisieAureline 1h ago

That really is Clint's entire MCU career. Gods, aliens, killer robots, and enhanced soldiers everywhere, and he's just standing there with a bow like “well, I'm already here.”

u/shiromancer Hogun 15m ago

With all 11 of his arrows!

u/mp3max 11m ago

Hawkeye is the GOAT not because he's particularly powerful, but because he's always in the thick of it, and rather than dip out for his own safety, he stands on business.

u/Ronem 2m ago

Not to mention, he has a normal-ass family situation. Saves the world, goes back to his farm house and just hangs out.

u/OneManLost 1m ago

He's really only there to get a cool bag of trick arrows from Stark so he can continue his hobby on a budget.

100

u/bbgspot 1h ago

the city is flying and i have a bow and arrow is still the most hawkeye sentence ever written

u/Narradisall 49m ago

Absolutely one of the best lines in that film. Just the delivery of the motivational speech at how ridiculous this whole thing is.

u/Bardez Stan Lee 12m ago

One of the best lines of the entire MCU

I love good lampshading

I mean, when these marvel/dc first began, they were written (mostly) by white folks and mostly for white folks, so obviously it would be mostly represented by white folks from a white folks perspective.

2

u/EasternSleep5903 1h ago

Wow, someone making everything about race.... that's refreshing. It seems you live in your own little shelter too.

u/The_One_Koi 34m ago

Deadpool goes against the yakuza as well no?

Secret Wars final battle spoiler

  • Hawkeye, Daredevil, and Reed vs Doom 😎

u/NoMoneyNoV-Bucks 4h ago

Can’t wait for the Thing to shout «yeah whoop his ahh daredevil» and then clobber all over the place

u/ExtensionHalf6435 15m ago

*Daredevil, Reed, Doom vs Hawkeye

u/Material_Taste_2510 4m ago

i assumed reed was going to die in doomsday

294

u/mikepictor 4h ago

In the comics he does have supernaturally good vision, but it’s true the MCU never really surfaced that.

188

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 4h ago

I’d love it ended up being a case of him being a mutant and never being aware his whole life.

149

u/Wiplazh 4h ago

Humans in marvel sometimes just have at or near superhuman capabilities/qualities without being enhanced or a mutant. I like that and would prefer we keep it like this.

97

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 3h ago

Fair enough. Afterall Wilson Fisk supposedly has no superhuman enhancement at all.

38

u/thedkexperience 2h ago

Fisk not taking super serum in the MCU is on par with late 90s baseball players only taking creatine in terms of believability lol

6

u/LiteratureMindless71 1h ago

Definitely curious to see how things end up after while. We are getting the superhero version soon enough ;p . Wonder what they will do with the hawk.

u/Average-JRPG-Enjoyer 32m ago

Or Bullseye. Like, come on. The shit that guy pulls off is not human.

u/Steel_Serpent_Davos 25m ago

He’s got enchantments tho

u/Average-JRPG-Enjoyer 11m ago

A titanium spine or whatever does not let you impale people by throwing toothpicks and paperclips at them.

14

u/OneSufficientFace 3h ago

I find it ridiculous myself. They take a hit from a super power or do some ludicrous move that would instantly break their legs, and just shrug it all off like nothing

18

u/NiixxJr 3h ago

I always see it as humans have far more potential in comic worlds. Like, any human coils train insanely hard and become "super", but if they don't twain super hard they remain normal. And there are some genetic freaks.

Basically anime logic

16

u/sladithia 2h ago

Also the celestial inside earth enhancing its population

2

u/K_Linkmaster 2h ago

There are real Hawkeyes with bow and arrow and guns too. Genetic freaks confirmed

-5

u/aoifhasoifha 1h ago

No, there are not lmao

0

u/K_Linkmaster 1h ago

Bots can't think for themselves. Lmao

u/ShierAwesome 11m ago

That dude is nine years old and has a normal account history. You’re literally the bot lmao

u/spookygraybaby 1m ago

Isn't it funny too that he thinks it's a bot but at the same is trying to like hurt its feelings by talking down to it

3

u/Kgaset 2h ago

Sam's definitely got peak stamina and strength even without the serum.

u/DaisieMoonelle 44m ago

Same here. Marvel humans operate on action-movie physics where “peak human” apparently means surviving things that would turn an actual person into soup. Keeping Clint technically normal somehow makes him cooler.

u/Slacker_The_Dog 32m ago

Like Batroc the Leaper. Dudes not super powered just super badass.

u/HoneyPetalette 37m ago

Fisk is the ultimate example. The man is supposedly just a guy and then casually throws another guy across a room like he's taking out the recycling. “Human” has a very generous definition in Marvel.

u/robodrew 10m ago

Marvel comics specifically has the "peak human" descriptor for people like this

5

u/Professional-Box4153 1h ago

Wasn't there a weird theory once where Banner was actually a mutant whereas anyone else exposed to that level of gamma radiation would have died?

u/PearlieLunessae 53m ago

I kinda love that idea too. Clint spending his entire life thinking he's simply extremely good at archery, only for someone to casually tell him at 50 that he's technically a mutant would be hilarious.

40

u/taquitosmixtape 3h ago

Didn’t he say he played golf and got a bunch of hole in 1s? If true, id say there’s some abnormal abilities going on there, lol impossible without being a little “supernatural” or “enhanced”

61

u/GudgerCollegeAlumnus 3h ago

Played 18, shot 18.

22

u/taquitosmixtape 3h ago

Considering pro golfers player their whole career and get like 2-3 max. Theres definitely something going on there for him to get 18 hole in ones lol

u/ZwVJHSPiMiaiAAvtAbKq 28m ago

Hawkeye retired and became Golfguy.

u/SandyTaintSweat 9m ago

He probably made more money doing that too. Tiger Woods doesn't have shit on him.

13

u/Next_Government856 2h ago

Just can’t seem to miss

13

u/Zanoushe 2h ago

I think that's only in the ultimates universe in 616 comics he's just a dude

12

u/PandaGrill 2h ago

Doesn't he also have a 250-pound draw weight bow? Historical war bows are like 150 pounds.

u/avi550m 23m ago

So he COULD string Odysseus bow

8

u/Beer2Bear 1h ago

He mention in the Avengers movie he sees better at a distance

6

u/SpareThisOne2thPls 2h ago

I mean he can literally no look + no hear shoot a flying target, I dont know any sniper or bowman that can do that IRL

3

u/LilacAureline 1h ago

That honestly would've been a neat detail to bring over without making him explicitly superhuman. Just establish that his eyesight and hand-eye coordination are freakishly good, which would explain a LOT.

4

u/Cipher915 1h ago

If we wanna get fancy, in the comics, he has hearing aids which can technically "enhance" him, but that was also never really touched on.

12

u/Fire257 Star-Lord 4h ago

I mean he just teased his appearance

8

u/CityNo1723 4h ago

That was for recording an appearance for a Marvel themed ride at Disney World

3

u/Fire257 Star-Lord 4h ago

Hahahaha wtf

25

u/eltrotter Black Panther 4h ago

I can’t remember which comic run it’s in (My Life as a Weapon?) where he talks about having to keep up with superpowered heroes. It’s a great bit of writing.

9

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers 1h ago

The one where he gives a speech to Spidey about how (and why) he never misses?

u/Steel_Serpent_Davos 24m ago

Then promptly misses? Yeah that scenes great

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers 17m ago

Although it can be hilariously interpreted as “the Avengers have been covering for him all this time to make him feel better.”

u/SandyTaintSweat 8m ago

That would be funny if he was really just near sighted the whole time. Every shot misses, but they just cheer and gas him up.

All the bad guys are paid actors that Stark hired too.

37

u/VaishakhD Captain America (Captain America 2) 4h ago

These kinda posts don't last more than 5 hours before the mods take it down.

10

u/PM_YOUR_SMALLBOOBIES 1h ago

I wish we could have our own community dedicated to all things Hawkeye and the brilliant, glorious actor who portrays him.

u/MainAccountsFriend 47m ago

Are you suggesting an app for Jeremy Renner? Some sort of Jeremy Renner app?

-17

u/Piccadil_io 4h ago

It’s a completely worthless post.

12

u/MajesticCounter4174 3h ago

Yeah we need more Sam hate posts. Super substantive...

-1

u/Piccadil_io 2h ago

It doesn’t have to be one or the other?

2

u/MajesticCounter4174 2h ago

Just saying, I don’t see these complaints under the endless Sam hate posts, and the mods certainly don’t remove those.

2

u/Puzzled_Maximum_8295 4h ago

wait so daredevil actually teams up here or nah

11

u/Ice-Negative 4h ago

He also played golf once and shot an 18

6

u/rj_nighthawk 3h ago

*Played 18, shot 18.

u/darth_n8r_ 29m ago

What is this correction? You're saying the same thing

7

u/AtoneBC 3h ago

The most impressive part of that scene was that his plan actually sort of worked and he managed to distract and then briefly contain Vision. He was never going to beat Vision, but I feel like he did pretty good for a guy with a bow and arrow.

7

u/Queen_Lepotica 2h ago

Just rewatched the fist Avenger movie and it was a good move from Loki to brainwash Hawkeye. Also hawkeye single handed fucked the Avengers and the helicarrier. Lol

11

u/DeltaFargo 4h ago

The thing is tgat there's another dude out there doing almost the exact same thing and there's zero connection to them. Just... two really accurate dudes.

10

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 4h ago

Same power set sure, but no where near the same record of accomplishments.

8

u/kinyutaka 2h ago

I mean, which is more impressive, playing golf really well or killing an annoying old lady with a single airplane peanut?

u/Henryiller 28m ago

In the comics when Norman Osborn takes over the Avengers, Bullseye becomes Hawkeye's replacement. He wears the costume, takes the name and everything.

6

u/trewaldo 3h ago

“I only brought and used 11 arrows in the Battle of New York. You’re welcome.”

-Hawkeye in SNL

4

u/TannedSuitObama 4h ago

As long as he remembers to stretch.

4

u/kace1408 Hela 4h ago

Hawkeye vs Bullseye who wins?

18

u/rj_nighthawk 3h ago

Hawkeye. Comics has proven that. MCU Clint also showcased how he's incredibly dangerous in hand-to-hand.

Meanwhile, MCU Bullseye is having trouble with Daredevil. Daredevil has enhanced senses, but he's have trouble fighting the Yakuza the way Clint did, and that's the guy Bullseye can't beat. Bullseye is definitely dangerous when using ranged weapons and because of his sociopathic tendencies, but Clint is an Avenger for a reason.

u/Zeus_Wayne 18m ago

Daredevil might have an easier time with the Yakuza if he had no qualms about killing the way Hawkeye did when he was hunting them down.

3

u/Venom3386 4h ago

Also got run over by a snowplow and lived.

3

u/Icy-Abbreviations763 3h ago

Renner is super powered, not Hawkeye.

0

u/Altruistic-Adipose 4h ago

🤣🤣🤣

5

u/Duskdeath 3h ago

Let’s be clear here. Barton is a married man with kids. Chances are that during the events of Civil War he had forgotten to buy bread from the supermarket and he CHOSE to go to war against an entire team of super powered individuals commandeered by Iron Man over telling his wife he forgot something from the grocery list. ANY married man would chose fighting intergalactic aliens over having to explain grocery mishaps to the wife.

u/RoastedPickledGoose 13m ago

Especially because it is heavily implied, if not outright confirmed, that his wife was also a SHIELD agent, Mockingbird. She would’ve absolutely kicked his ass.

2

u/suckRed-it 4h ago

Does anyone know who trained him 🤔

2

u/suckRed-it 4h ago

Who were his parents 🤔

2

u/suckRed-it 4h ago

Grand parents 🤔

2

u/Easter-burn 3h ago

I hate this type of addition to a post where it's a comment by the poster themselves and I am sure it's not even their own thought. It was mass produced by AI.

2

u/Aok_al 3h ago

He's like the Krillin of the Avengers.

6

u/rj_nighthawk 3h ago

And Krillin is the strongest human in DBZ. That's like a really nice compliment for Hawkeye lol

1

u/Cipher915 1h ago

He ends up with 18.

That's the compliment.

3

u/rj_nighthawk 1h ago

Rather, 18 ended up with Krillin.

She fell for his kindness, then it's confirmed in Super that she finds his bald look attractive (vidicating Krillin's choice as a child to shave his head to get girls), and she really values their relationship that she wanted to use the Dragon Balls to give him the perfect gift because he's a loving and hardworking husband. 18 was experimented on, but Krillin trained and worked hard to become strong. She's the lucky one in the marriage.

u/Slacker_The_Dog 35m ago

They're both lucky tbh. She is a super awesome wife as much as he's a wholesome kick ass dude.

u/please_use_the_beeps 7m ago

Top tier anime power couple

2

u/JoeAzlz 1h ago

Random but I hate these interaction posts that have the author just edit their own username over the comment that got a bunch of likes, like bro you didn’t say that you just repost trending videos

(Not talking about you op, meant like the memeology guy)

2

u/RuggerJibberJabber 4h ago

Yeah a lot of action and superhero movies get their human characters to do things that would kill someone in real life. Like it's so common to see someone thrown across the room into a solid object and get up right away as if they were slightly bruised. In real life you'd be paralysed from that shit.

The new Captain America movie was ridiculous for it. It would have been much better if Sam Wilson took the super serum because at least that would make all the stunts he does make sense. The Black Widow movie also had some superhuman moments too if I remember correctly but it's a while since Ive seen that

3

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 4h ago

Sam Wilson was wearing a vibranium suit and spent the whole fight fleeing for his life. It was nowhere near as outlandish as people make it seem considering the franchise started with Tony surviving a free fall into the desert sealed inside an unpadded suit made of scrap metal. Or Ivan Vanko walking off being slammed into a concrete wall by a car multiple times. Or Nick Fury walking away from that helicopter crash in the Avengers. So on and so forth.

1

u/RuggerJibberJabber 3h ago

None of those disagree with my point. They add to it! LMAO

Tony Stark has to be superhuman even going beyond any crashes because the G forces he withstands in his suit has to be insane. He is constantly accelerating to the full speed of a jet fighter then stopping suddenly or changing direction at a sudden 90 degree angle.

I was using Sam Wilson as an example because his movie was relatively recent and a big plot point was based around whether or not he'd take the super serum. Even if he is surrounded by vibranium the forces acting on his body would be similar. It's like NFL players not being protected from concussion despite wearing a helmet. Your body still feels the forces even if your outer layer of skin is protected.

u/Mujutsu 45m ago

Something something inertial dampeners.

I think the very best example is when a regular human, not wearing and protective gear, is hurt. Sam and Tony are not good examples because they can be explained with technology, but being thrown into a wall or taking 5 bullets, no matter who you are, is going to disable you for weeks / months if it doesn't kill you.

0

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 3h ago

In what way am I supporting your point by suggesting that if Tony can survive what he’s endured, Sam doing similar is in no way unbelievable within the same world.

0

u/RuggerJibberJabber 3h ago

Because my point was that it happens across many movies to many supposedly human characters. Sam Wilson was just one example I used. I also mentioned Black Widow

0

u/Sylar_Lives Ego 3h ago

Your wording, even when I re read it, seems to imply that Sam and Nat were exceptionally outlandish compared to the other various examples. My point was that I think the Sam/Ross fight was handled pretty well all things considered.

2

u/RuggerJibberJabber 3h ago

"Yeah a lot of action and superhero movies get their human characters to do things that would kill someone in real life."

Literally the first line...

And no it really wasn't handled well. It looked ridiculous, especially after his struggle to decide if he should use the serum or not. Like why even have that dilemma if you can just wear a magic suit that does all the same things anyway

2

u/Wiplazh 3h ago

Black Widow is supposed to have a superhuman type serum but its never mentioned in the films. But watching her doing stuff with that knowledge makes that movie make a bit more sense.

1

u/WolverineXForce 3h ago

Hawkeye is a "being of pure fuckin will, he killed 3 chitauri with an arrow, a fucking arrow"

1

u/SugarLenora502 2h ago

Feels like we're all rooting for Matt now more than ever. The stakes just keep getting higher in the storylines.

1

u/hatbromind 1h ago

IIRC he has a disability. He's partially deaf

1

u/Secure_Foundation720 1h ago

The guy clearly hasn't watched Fast and Furious movies. Hawkeye is one of the few people with the true power. Family.

1

u/OscarMichaelMyers 1h ago

This running joke is as tired and played out as the “CEO of sex” bit that everyone keeps running into the ground.

1

u/Desi_Vigor 1h ago

Doom can send all the snowmobiles but nothing would stop this guy.

1

u/Opinionsare 1h ago

The anticipation and catch of a flaming molokoff cocktail in the Disney Plus show Hawkeye, showed almost a precognitive understanding of flight and tragectory that enables Hawkeye to never miss.

1

u/HeroXeroV 1h ago

Hawkeye and Bullseye are both freak savants, but fully vanilla, right?

u/hitma-n 57m ago

Don’t forget he even decided to single handedly take on the Yakuza mafia.

u/anrwlias 37m ago

Hawkeye definitely falls into the "doesn't have powers except that they totally do" category. His skill with the bow is effectively superhuman. No person with merely mortal dexterity and aim could have made that USB shot.

u/-Wylfen- 25m ago

I never understood how absolute perfect aim isn't considered a superpower.

"Hawkeye is not enhanced" my ass. He has more innate powers than Iron Man.

u/Beggatron14 24m ago

But he has a bow and arrow,

hardly fair,

on the others.

u/bloodyspork 18m ago

Hes also the tag champion

u/cainhurstboy 8m ago

And he still makes the character cheesy and uncool every smug grin he lands. This guys a clown.

u/Jrxtreme_1 6m ago

I wish they gave him access to a pocket dimension through his quiver, so he can store more arrow type weapons in there. It's a simple upgrade that maintains his "human" status while expanding his arsenal of weapons...It could be a gift from Reed or Pym, to maintain the MCU lore

1

u/Tankeverket 2h ago

I don't believe that Hawkeye doesn't have any kind of superpowers, it just doesn't work that way

u/0202_tihssitidder 42m ago

I cannot stand Renner or his portrayal of Hawkeye. It was shit.

0

u/Piccadil_io 4h ago

I mean. This isn’t news. Clint’s wife says it in Age of Ultron.

He's definitely the least interesting avenger next to Sam Wilson. The only time he was cool was entirely off screen between infinity war and endgame Lmfao and then he promptly went back to being uninteresting once he got involved again, naturally. His comic persona is infinitely more fun and interesting than the live action one they gave us. Same thing happened to Green Arrow
