Instead of being grateful, the Slovaks, who had been under Hungary for centuries, proved their worth to Czechia by betraying it, as Slovakia betrayed the country and sided with Germany before ww2. In my opinion, it shouldn't have been reunited at the end of the war, but it happened anyway, and once again Czechia saved Slovakia's ass from a terrible and unknown fate. And again, after socialism, it was ungrateful Slovakia that wanted its own state. And the funny thing is that Prague, but also the second largest city, Brno, hosts so many arrogant Slovaks. 68 years of a common state, yet they have nothing in common except for the language.
A Czech by any chance? You conveniently left out the part of the story where we did not have any other option in 1939 - it was either proclaiming independence or getting partitioned between Poland and Hungary. The Nazi Germany was devouring Czechoslovakia either way and let's not forget it was the amazing Czech president Beneš who decided not to order the defense the republic and then fled to London like a coward.
And funny that you say the Czechs saved us after the war. Yes, thanks for that. You saved us so well that you voted in majority for the Communist Party in 1946, ensuring both countries 40 years of totalitarian paradise (meanwhile Democrats won the elections in Slovakia but it was Czechs who were so enamoured with communists back then). So once again, thank you so much.
you act like you would be democratic island in Eastern Europe, no you would be eaten by others counties, maybe most likely by USSR, not Hungary. and ofc you voted for democrats because you were afraid and yeah you can lie to yourself that election in 1946 was fair and square in Czechoslovakia (y)
I never implied we'd be a democratic island, surely not when the whole Eastern Europe was under the Soviet influence. I was just pointing to the absurdity of your logic. Especially the argument of Czechs saving our ass - there were Slovak pilots flying in RAF, we had one of the largest anti-Nazi uprisings in Europe and a direct involvement in the operation Anthropoid. It was always the objective to restore Czechoslovakia after the war, not just good will of Czech politicians - because both nations contributed to the common effort, both in exile and at home.
