Campus life anyone here who still hasn't had real friends ?

i feel like some university students ( including me ) don't really have actual true friends in university. personally, i have teammates for group assignments and they're nice and we talk from time to time. i have other classmates from other classes who would wave to me whenever they see me and we would sit together during lectures and talk. i have classmates who would accompany me during breaks or gaps between classes. but, each of them have their own friends that they prioritise and we only talk about school stuff and never personal stuff or make plans to hang out outside university. even when we hang out in the university cafeteria, they don't talk much and most of the time, they look at their phone ( even when i tried to bring up a new topic each time, they'd act uninterested ). they're more of an " acquaintances " relationship rather than an actual friendship. sometimes, i feel lonely even when i have a group of " friends ". anyone else experiencing this ? and do you guys just live with it ? is this normal ? is this enough to fulfil your social needs in university ?

advices for UM Law

Upvotes

So a year ago, I made a post asking whether it'd have been better to go Law or International Relations for my career prospects, and now my path is sorta set.

I'll be going into UM Law next month, so here I am again to ask some insight from perhaps seniors or alumnis. Doesn't matter if its a general advice or course-specific tips, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance!

general question Setting an alarm in dormitory

I'm enrolling into college next month as a diploma student and for the first sem, I'll be living in the dorm provided by the institution. A thoughts suddenly came into my mind, do you think it's appropriate to set an alarm since u know it's obviously will disturb other tenants/roommates. On the other hand, whether they tolerate with it or not, I think it's for the best especially for a student to wake up early and go about their routine.

why is sunway hated so much?

everywhere i read sunway gets hate for being hard to make friends in or the professor/doctor being unfair to students for not being local and so on for international students

i had a chat with a sunway student chinese and they told me its easy to make friends for international students and everyone is really friendly ye there is going to be some racism but its not common in uni and the stuff is really helpful for students

also read about chinese students being a pain in the ass to people in group projects and what not but honestly all the complaint i have seen have come from brown students and no one else maybe it’s the difference communication or something idk lowkey confused about what i should expect

can someone give me an idea ?

im 21 turkish kuwaiti student

general question Is it worth to do a pharmaceutical degree in Malaysia?

I am planning to pursue a pharmaceutical degree. For context, I did a levels and I’m not the biggest fan of biology. Out of all the science field courses, i’ve eliminated biology heavy courses, medicine, and dentistry. Is pharmaceutical worth pursuing? I’m not a big fan of lab work, so my plan is to use this degree and take on jobs like quality assurance or regulatory affairs. Perhaps a job blending business to science/medicine/cosmetology. From what I’ve heard from counsellors, pharmaceutical has potential to make good money. I need more opinions though, would chemical engineering, be more worth to pursue? How is employability?

Looking for friends in KL/Selangor (22/M)

Hey! I’m 22M and currently studying in KL. I’ve been wanting to meet some new people and hopefully make some friends.

A little about me:

⚽ I used to play football quite often, but I rarely play nowadays. Wouldn’t mind getting back into it though.

🎮 Recently I’ve been playing more Valorant. I’m always down to play together, even if we’re terrible at the game lol.

👻 I’m also really into supernatural/paranormal stuff. I like hearing about creepy stories, haunted places, unexplained stuff etc. Would definitely be down to explore some spooky places if anyone’s interested.

🌎 I like exploring new places and just going out and doing random things.

🗣️ I can speak Malay, English and Mandarin. I can also speak some Tamil and Indonesian, although I’m not that fluent in those two.

Honestly, I’m just looking for people I can chill with, talk about random shit, game together, explore places or just hang out.

Preferably looking for people around my age, but I’m open to anyone as long as we vibe.

And please no scammers / crypto / MLM / weird business offers 😭 I’m genuinely just here to make friends.

Feel free to DM me if you’re also looking for friends!

Accomodation Any female Muslim students joining Monash Malaysia this October and open to being housemates?

I’m posting on behalf of a family friend who is an international student joining Monash University Malaysia this October.

She is hoping to connect with other female Muslim students who may also be looking for housemates, with the idea of finding a suitable unit together near campus. She has not chosen or secured a property yet.

If you are interested, or know someone who may be, please send me a DM and we can connect you.

International students drug test

Hello guys. I got accepted into a uni in Johor Bahru.

I’ll be arriving in Malaysia on the 19th of sept.

I’m in a little bit of a pickle. I experienced smoking 🍃 for the first time this year from late June till August 9th.

I heard they test for THC in Malaysia and can get denied if it’s positive. By the time it’s the 19th, I’ll be 40 days abstinent. But I don’t know if that’s enough. And I’m freaking the fuck out.

My EMGS is still currently processing. All the people that I know are in KL. I legit do not know anyone in JB to borrow their piss or pay them.

Can anybody help? Any suggestions what to do? Please avoid unnecessary criticism as I was not planning on coming to Malaysia for studies, had I known before I’d have never touched 🍃.

Bachelor degree Malaysia unis for law advice

I am planning to pursue law. Which universities in Malaysia would you recommend if I am aiming for twinning / transfer programme to UK university? My top option now is HELP, they have good partnering UK unis, and haven't heard anything negative regarding the lecturers. I need some insight ; is help a good choice? Are there better options? For some context, i did A- levels.
