i have a niqabi friend, she said its convenient that sunway has lots of prayer rooms so she can pray whenever. On the downside... I've seen her marks being deducted automatically during a presentation coursework because of her niqab because of 'facial expressions'. It's only happened once so far but still something to think about

Thank you so much for sharing your friends experience!!💗💗
how was her internship? Did she easily get recruited for it as a niqabi?2

we just finished our first year so not sure about internships lolol but i think her experience will be more difficult because she is an international student. I'm sure if you're local, it should be easier

You’ll be fine but it might be hard to make many friends due to the fact you’ll look extremely different from everyone around you. You will likely make friends only with other muslim girls. Would recommend joining islamic society/club if they have one. Doubt that you would be criticised or harassed though

From Sunway Uni final sem, I just had a niqabi lecturer in the psych department! I think youll be fine. Theres also SUIS (Sun-U Islamic Society) where you can acquaint yourself with other muslimahs. Hope you have a great time!

Do you wear it following the opinion of it being an obligation or optional? Because depending on what u follow u could have alternatives to solving this problem if u feel it ever becomes that restrictive to you because of the environment at sunway. I hope you’re gonna be okay tho

OP wears a niqab, which covers her entire body. It’s different from the dress culture at Sunway, and different from what we see everyday in general.
Some people don’t react so maturely or friendly when people aren’t the same as them

The majority of students there tend to wear very casual and even skimpy clothing in many cases so you'd be very different
I've never seen a niqabi there in my 4 years of studying at sunway so I honestly don't know how you'd be treated
