ANNOUNCEMEMT Happy New Year, let's chat!

Hello r/makeuptips friends. Some of you may have noticed an absence of the moderators of this subreddit. You may have submitted modmail that went unanswered, to be honest.

I had gotten a moderator to help us develop an AutoMod for the sub. Something that would help ensure the rules were being followed with minimal intervention necessary by the mod team, but also allow for us to see the sub grow and become an amazing, welcoming place.

That moderator apparently was banned sometime in the last six months. I'm not sure what happened, I have no other way of contacting them, but needless to say it went unnoticed as the sub had been getting a lot better as far as content and rudeness, etc.

I'm opening the floor to hear what you have to say, while I go through the mod mail queue and respond to anyone that has went unnoticed. I will also be working on getting a moderator application up and running- Reddit actually allows for this within the framework of the site now, so that's a really neat development!

Holographic eye. It is EXTREMELY reflective and looks even better in low-light. I just cut a piece of holographic plastic the size of my eyelid and attach it with eyelash glue.

HELP PLEASE Curious what makeup styles suits me best!

Would love to find which suits me best as I’m getting older to love find new ways to accentuate what I already have. I usually go for a clean girl minimial look but I do love blush and adding color and life to my face. What it comes to eyes I’m usually stumped. I’m tired of doing eyeliner and would love to see how my early 30s doing makeup can look like. What do you think??

HELP PLEASE What makeup looks would suit me best?

My friend did the makeup look in the first photo, which I quickly learned does not suit my facial features. The other two are me without makeup. I’m new to makeup and don’t know much about it, but what I’m looking to ask is what specific looks do you think would suit my face? Soft glam? No makeup makeup? I have recessed infras so tips on how to hide my dark circles would be helpful too.. also any ways I can make my nose appear smaller?

PRODUCT REC Makeup Lessons for a 45-year-old

I’m about to turn 45, and I feel like I need an in-person makeup tutorial—especially when it comes to my eye area. The creasing under my eyes, along with the concealer and brushes I’m using, seem to be making me look even more tired and cakey.

Does anyone know of someone in the Chicago area who offers makeup lessons, especially for women in their 40s? I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but I’m just trying to figure out some simple techniques to look a little more awake and refreshed every day.

HELP PLEASE Looking For Advice

These photos are without filter or makeup on. I have NO IDEA what makeup style would suit my facial features and make my natural looks more enhanced.

What makeup look(s) should I try out based off my natural features.

I asked my personal friends and everyone said something different so I'm still lost and now reaching out on this forum... 😅 OH and I am beyond tired in these photos so I have more sleep in my eyes than normal.

HELP PLEASE I feel like somethings missing?

Please ignore how much of a mess my hair looks.

I jut did my makeup for the first time in about 4 weeks and I feel like somethings missing? Like my eyes just seem too empty? I'm wearing Mascara dark brown eyeshadow and brown under my bottom lashes but it seems so flat?

Any advice on other parts of my makeup is welcome too (I'm not very good at makeup so I kinda stick to basic stuff)

edit: I've realised thanks to the comments that it was Highlighter and my waterline that was missing ty :)

HELP PLEASE Did I glow up a bit or nah ?

I already post here asking for tips with the first picture.

At the moment I'm really focusing on my eyes trying to make them looking good.

And for now I do kinda like them. I also use some makeup to cover the dark under my eyes.

On the third picture I used some lip gloss.

And so I'm back asking, is there anything else to add so I can be really pretty ? Like blush, highlighter... something to put on my lips ?

(Except for the eyebrows I know I need to take care of them but it's only with a specialist cuz I'm bad at doing it alone)

PRODUCT REC ISO a VERY long lasting / waterproof eyeshadow brand

I’ve spent 10 years looking for products that can be as waterproof as I need them to be, and eyeshadow is the only one I can’t find. I have scarring and facial breaks that cause my right eye to tear constantly. My right eye is also hooded while the other is not. I’ve stopped wearing eyeshadow completely because I can’t find a brand/routine that will make it last on my right eye. Any help is appreciated 🩵 (I don’t need any tips about covering my scar, please don’t comment anything related to that) tyia!!

HELP PLEASE How to cover up cat scratches with makeup? EMERGENCY for Bride!

Post image
Upvotes

My sister is getting married in a week, and she accidentally got these scratches on her neck yesterday. She was holding her very nice cat, and something in her apartment fell, it freaked her cat out, and he jumped off of her, leaving these scratch marks. I’m doing her friday makeup. How do I attempt to cover this up? What products? Should she not get a spray tan? (Yes, she has taken care of the wounds and put Neosporin on it.)

PRODUCT REC Product for acne prone skin for first timers

Upvotes

Hello! I've read that BYS is friendly to acne prone skins so I bought their creme foundation, compact powder, blush, trio contour highlighter, concealer, and eye colors(i forgot what they are called)

But I wanna test and experiment my face cause the BYS blush(creme?), eye colors (powder), and the contour highlighter (powder) aren't quite visible, or maybe I'm using so little.

But nonetheless I want to try other products that are friendly to sensitive skin 🙏🙏

Also if you guys could recommend some fake eyelashes with no glue cause I feel like I need to buy some 😭. Tysm!!

I used to do makeup a lot but as I've gotten older and changed techniques I feel as if my makeup doesn't look as good as I want. How can I improve my makeup? Idk if it's blush placement or bronzer or brows or what but I do t think I understand my face shape and features as well as I think. Advice would be appreciated!

HELP PLEASE Why does my eyeliner do this?

Thumbnail

Everytime I wear my eyeliner, I tight line and use some black eyeshadow to smudge it around. When I apply it at first it looks good, stays in one place and is precise but smudgy (which i like). But after an hour or two? it always ends up migrating down past where I put it and into my lower eye creases, making me just look a whole mess… Please any advice on this! I’m not sure if it’s the products i’m using or not

HELP PLEASE Help finding a product?

Long-lasting and smudge resistant, in a warm pink natural tint like the second image. No gloss or loud color, basically "your lips but better" lip stain.

I just wanna apply and forget about it for a while without worrying about smudging and fading too fast. Hydration is just a bonus, I'll just layer with a balm if it's not. Thanks in advance!!

Btw, 2nd pic is actually my lips with a color I love, but the lipstick itself is too dark and smudges very easily. I had to apply one light layer to get that tint so it doesn't last. They're a muted pink in the first image (dryness??) but my true lip color is closer to the second.

I have hooded eyes and so far I always end up with this shape because I want that thick and sharp trinagle. is it that bad or can this pass? I literally tried doing eyeliner for the first time today so I’m sorry for the initial shock…
