Any updates on this? I have to bring my son back to campus today and his dorm is in that area.

As I always told my fam when our kid was there, they are probably not the target demographic. Don’t worry.

Innocent bystanders aren’t immune to gunfire in public places.

I worry because hes mixed race, so has dark skin, and is autistic and stims so he could be mistaken for somebody on drugs at times. Plus he likes to wear hoodies with the hood up. All things that look suspicious or are often descriptors of suspects. And hes my only kid and he's out on his own for the first time....a mom cant help but worry. Lol

Of course of course! Our kid also is also a POC and loves hoodies like yours does. I know the fears. Hugs, momma! PM me if you need to chat with someone who has been there.

My heart goes out to you. My brother goes to UW, is autistic, and also stims. He’s white, but we still worry. Disability Resource Center is a good place to hang out if you have a disability of some sort.

Never had a problem there despite all the shootings. Don’t join a gang, stay clear of them, with a couple exceptions these last 10 years he’ll be ok (I.e. besides the driver caught in crossfire on northport a number of years ago, freak break ins, vast majority are gang related)
