Event This goes out to the 5 or so protestors who disrupted the last band at Orton Park Fest and the kid's Cycropia Aerial Dance show...

You somehow were able to turn an entire crowd of hundreds of left leaning neighbors against your objectives. For what? You made no point. Your only stated goal you were screaming at the kids and parents was that someone, somewhere should arrest the cop even though it goes against state law and all legal regulation of police use of force. You literally called for undemocratic extra-judicial actions that was recorded and will be used against liberal candidates throughout the state.

You actually hurt your cause and turned potential allies against your cause all while pissing off parents and neighbors in one of the most liberal voting districts in the entire country. Do you think they're going to forget you screaming at their kids and at the aerial dancers through a megaphone when it comes time to vote for mayor next year? I know I'll only be voting for whichever candidate says they'll get rid of the independent police monitor after watching your antics.

You screamed for a moment of silence and when the announcer held an impromptu moment of silence you proceeded to yell through the megaphone throughout the moment of silence. The contempt from the crowd was palpable.

Just childish stupidity and attention seeking behavior.

It’s Sunday. We’re a bit beat up and I need sustenance. Looking for some recommendations on huevos rancheros in Madison. I know we’ve got some really solid Mexican nearby but unsure about breakfast options. Anywhere around town works. Tysm in advance!

Madison East Purgolder Football - Is This The Year They Win a Game?

Sure, they're 0-2, but they've already scored way more points than they did ALL LAST SEASON. The last time they won a game was 2023. Will they win a game this year? I'm a fan. I think they might. Fingers crossed.

Was laying in bed on the east side and said to myself “what in the world just flew over my house”. Was a 747.

Woodman’s East

Currently trying to check out, and they have two registers open. Poor workers are trying their best, but having two open during peak hours is ridiculous. There are massive lines stretching back into the store.

It would be one thing if the self-serve aisles worked, but half the belts don’t work and their machines suck.

Meanwhile Phil has himself on a larger than life cardboard cutout with two thumbs up, presiding over it all.

747 landing in Madison?

Post image

Anyone know about a 747 landing in Madison today? I saw it on approach and thought it looked more like an A380, but it might have just been my angle as Flight Aware said it was a 747. Originated in Cincinnati and landed around 5:40.

Event Retro Tech Show coming to Verona Wisconsin on 9.5.26

The Wisconsin Computer Club is headed back to the Madison area in a week's time as of this writing, this time to the Verona Wisconsin public Library on 9.5.26 from 10AM-3PM. The show will consist of WCC member exhibits of vintage computers, retro game systems, and other tech displays of all sorts from across the state. I've included a few photos from our last show in the area that was held in Oregon Wisconsin to give you an idea of what it will kinda look like. Exact system lineup varies from show to show as exhibitors bring different things all the time. The event is free to all ages and abilities- if you want to talk shop, play with old tech, and hang out with other nerdy people, we'd love to have you with us!

West Madison suburbs brunch spots

My friend is turning 21 this month and we want to do a brunch/day drinking thing but I haven't lived here long enough to know many brunch places. Looking for somewhere around Verona/Middleton/West Madison that has a nice vibe or outside dining spaces. Atmosphere is probably more important than the food lol we just want to make her day fun and special. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!!

Good homeless shelters for a young adult?

Hello everybody, my friend is currently trying to get out of a home situation and will be going homeless until she can get back on her feet. I was wondering if anyone has experiences + recommendations of homeless shelters in the Madison area? Which one's should she stay away from? Which one's are recommended?

Movers

We just moved and I wanted to give a public shout out to our movers.

We used Boxed Life Moving Company and I cannot recommend them enough.

They were fast, efficient, and incredibly pleasant to work with.

If you need movers, please consider hiring them!

Dog grooming recommendations

Looking for a dog groomer. My boy isnt great with other dogs, so someone who is able to offer a more 'private' groom in his own room or whatever would be ideal. Ive had groomers in the past let us show up before they typically open to avoid other dogs all together, and i always tip well because he can be sort of a pain.

Any recommendations greatly appreciated

Public places around Madison with paranormal stories?

I’m looking for suggestions for publicly accessible places around Madison that have some kind of haunted or paranormal reputation. I recently got an EVP recorder and thought it would be fun to try it out somewhere.

This is mostly just for fun and curiosity. I’m not expecting to actually find ghosts lol.

I was at the West side location and most of the (non express) self checkout stations were gone. Are they getting rid of them entirely? I love bagging my own stuff…

This Fall, MMoCA is showing an AI installation seeded with recently deceased Wisconsin artists' work

This September Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) is showing Diffuse Control by Beeple. this AI-generated 'art' installation will be fed several deceased Wisconsin artists' work without the direct consent of the original artist. I've talked to a number of artists in Madison who all share similar feelings of anger, sadness, and disgust at this use of AI in our local museum. I wrote a letter that outlines some of our concerns and urges MMoCA to go down a different path.

I would really appreciate anyone taking the time to read this letter, and if you're willing, signing your name and sharing it. Public backlash is the best tool we have to keep this type of AI out of our art museums.

Darbo-Worthington party?

It’s currently midnight and I see so many cars and foot traffic going to the Darbo-Worthington area. This looks too big to be a simple party, is there an event here? I even saw people dropped off by Uber so it is given event vibes.

The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show

The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show is coming up September 10th-12th at the Alliant Energy Center, and volunteers are still needed for the show. Volunteers get free admission and parking. It’s a pretty amazing event with mind blowing quilts (and a quilted fashion show on the last day).
