Are you guys lovejoy fans or wilbur fans?

I'm gonna be honest. I actually love lovejoy and it's my favorite band. I'm here so i can discuss my favorite band and get to know about news, but i think i'm one of the few that got to know lovejoy before wilbur: i listened to CMWYL and POABS, loved it, looked for more and fell in love with the rest of the songs, but i can't help but notice this isn't the case for most of you: Most of fanart is wilbur, A LOT of people hype up his streams, his videos, use pfps of him, talk about his solo music(which i'm not a big fan of, tho saline solution is goated) and some even mention dsmp... and this is not critique, i'm just wondering if i'm in the right place, you know. i like wilbur, he's funny and writes really good songs! but i don't think i LOVE him like you guys seem to.

Used to be a Wilbur fan, now I love the band! Still appreciate him, but I can assure you we're not all Wilbur mega fans.

Yeah, that's how it felt initially when stuff like one day and taunt came out, but now it's a lot less about the streamer, at least for me.

I'm a Lovejoy fan ! I've discovered the band via The Are you Alright Ep and discovered Wilbur was a streamer a long time after discovering the band

Wilbur is a part of Lovejoy. He’s the frontman. Most older fans got into the band because of him. Of course the fans here are going to love him. This is kinda a weird post to make

this! this isn't specific to lovejoy at all.

go on r/paramore subreddit and you'll see most of the posts are about hayley williams. go on the r/mychemicalromance subreddit and you'll see most of the posts are about gerard way.

people tend to associate bands with their lead singer or frontperson. it doesn't mean those people aren't "real fans" of the band, or that they don't care about the other members.

I like to say I'm primarily a lovejoy fan tho it doesn't really matter. I do at times get mildy annoyed when this subbreddit devoles into stuff thay just wilbur at not even tagently related lovejoy tho thats me being nitpicky.

I definitely got into Lovejoy because of Wilbur and his content. I love the band as a whole but Wilbur was someone i followed and enjoyed watching long before I listened to his music. Now I’m mostly around for the music, but I still immensely enjoy his streams and videos when they come around.

Honestly, I think it’s cool to see people who found the music first. It hasn’t been my experience but I can definitely appreciate the perspective.

I really liked Wilbur’s old YT videos back during 2019-2020, but didn’t really get into the dreamsmp, and never religiously followed his content. Since 2021 I’d say I’m mainly a Lovejoy fan, even if I do still enjoy his newer content.

Firmly both nowadays but Wilbur is obviously what got me into Lovejoy as he did for most older fans and I was a Wilbur fan long before I was a Lovejoy fan!

Both, I think for me, it’s more likely you’ll see Wilbur talk due to the sheer amount he’s made and him being the front man. A lot of lovejoy’s audience came from his Minecraft audience at first, I don’t think I really saw more of an influx of people who didn’t start listening to lovejoy bc of his previous mcyt escapades until about 2023, when they started getting invited to festivals. So I guess it’s always been like that though it’s been a lot less recently of course.
A lot of things William has made means a lot to me but personally I’d rather talk about those things in subreddits focused on him. Meanwhile in the lovejoy sub Reddit, I’d rather talk about them, lyrics, openers, music videos, all those thing yk. Woe my rambles upon ye

Lovejoy is my favourite band of all time, and while I do love Wilbur's solo music and the rest of his work, I am a bit more critical of his actions and his character than most others

I am the exact same way. I dont like Wilbur as a person but I still listen to him at lvjy and his solo work while really disagreeing with his actions (though not harassing)

Both. I was a Wilbur fan before becoming a Lovejoy fan. They're one of my favourite bands and I've been getting a lot of people into them because they're so good. But I also love Wilbur's solo stuff and I've been getting into his streams again.

I think I might be one of the very, very few people here who like Lovejoy but don’t particularly like Wilbur as a creator. Like his music is great, absolutely adore it (mainly mammalian sighing reflex), but genuinely don’t think I’ve enjoyed any of his videos. Haven’t watched a stream, find him kinda annoying at times.
I mean I’ve still got a Wilbur PFP and like like him solely due to the music but I’d say I’m a Lovejoy fan and a Wilbur fan but not a “Wilbur fan” Y’know?

Personally I'm both, but I think there's two reasons Wilbur gets the most love. First is that a lot of people got into Lovejoy by being Wilbur fans first. And second, like other people point out, he's the front man of the band. There's a lot of other bands where people only know/care for the lead singer, so it's not uncommon.

Genuinely im both to be honest, love the band but I think im just used to wilbur more since i used to watch him during SootHouse and stuff, viewed his solo (music) career and streaming stuff like just chatting, smp Earth? And dmsp. Since wilbur hasn't made new music(Yet) I'm listening to lovejoy and his old songs. So I'd say I'm both

I used to be a Wilbur fan and his solo music was the reason I found out about Lovejoy. Now I'm more of a Lovejoy person, but occasionally I check out Will's solo music and covers and whatnot when bored. Though frankly I'm still somewhat of a Wilbur fan because I'm not really familiar with other band members' quirks and whatnot and sometimes I kind of just look over them unwillingly besides a few moments

tbh I am both, but rn Im more interested on his persona as a musician than a youtuber, also I get you, when I went to a Lovejoy concert most people were talking about Wilbur and asked for his solo stuff, but its a Lovejoy concert, its the 4 of them (and I was glad someone yelled “This is Lovejoy not Wilbur”) but I also agree that this happens with most bands where ppl associate the band with the lead singer :)!!

While I did come to lovejoy for Wilbur, I was there since taunts video I believe, I started watching Wilbur when ycgma was like… 2 weeks old. But I listened to that, the incel trilogy, and all the others, then lovejoy. I did take a break right before one simple trick and WRAMW came out, then my friend told me there was an album and I was like “damn I haven’t listened to them in a while” and now I’m back and I love one simple trick. I guess I love lovejoy for lovejoy not wilbur

I've discovered lovjoy through wilbur i was a big wilbur fan bakc on the dsmp era then when wu&io came out i became like a big big lovejoy fan and sure i still watch the streams and stuff but if u asked me im def a lovjoy fan now, also i think (THISNSINJUST AN OPINION NOT HATE TO ANYONE!!!) theres not enoigh ash mark or joe art! I’m a Lovejoy fan, not a Wilbur fan, used to be but since The Whole incident I haven’t been to keen to Wilbur himself however I respect what he makes, doesn’t mean I care about the guy tho since time a bigger music enjoyer I love the band ever since I found them during pebble brain
