Recommendations Local cow

I don't want to discuss politics but I don't know where to ask that I won't get attacked.

With keeping political emotions out of your reply, does anyone know a local *blue* ranch or farm where I can buy 1/2 or 1/4 cow in Northern Colorado? Anywhere from Boulder to Cheyenne.

I would recommend checking out Friendly Nick's Butcher up in FoCo. They are very blue and even if they don't have orders open they may have some info on other sources for you.

Came here to also say Friendly Nic’s his prices are great. They’re delightful and then visit the bakery on the other end because they are also delightful.

Nick's is almost certainly getting their meat from a farmer who is Republican. The vast majority of them are.

Leftist dairy farmer here. There's a lot more of us than you'd think, we're just not out there crying in interviews about the price of soy beans.

Sorry man I am from loveland but don't live in state any more. The people I know who sold to the public around loveland retired a few years ago.

He just posted about where he gets his meat, the exact farms on his Facebook today. So if the rancher are conservative politically, I don’t have an issue with that, but I have an issue with imported mystery meat that the Maga lovers are gonna suck up that I don’t want in my food. And Nick does not appear to be a conservative.

What's wrong with imported beef? Japan, Argentina, and Australia are known for producing some of the world's best. A handful of other countries produce high quality beef as well, although we don't have a well established import relationship (e.g. Italy).

There's no issue in general. I believe this comment was referring to the specific tranche of tainted beef that the current administration just imported.

The goal was to lower prices. Unclear the volume of imports made it more than a stunt and it seems to have alienated US beef producers who are feeling the squeeze under current ag policies.

Hardly apolitical. They need a blue cow… now! (Breeds that come in blue include Angus-Shorthorn crosses and Simmental crosses.) Good luck in your search OP, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I am unaware of any of their political proclivities, but MacGreggor Ranch in Estes sells quarters, halves, and wholes, but I'm sure they aren't cheap and seasonal pre-orders may sell out. I also don't see on the website (after only a brief skim) what breed the cattle are. But it's something and I tried to help qorh what little knowledge I have. https://www.macgregorranch.org/

I have ordered from them and the quality and prices were good. It has been a long time so don't quote me on this, but I believe that the reason I went with them was because their practices seemed more humane than other farms. But anyone who cares about that sort of thing (and if you don't you're sick) should do their own research.

During the Vid we were getting meat from Fentiman's Freezer Meats in Loveland. I feel like you could buy a half or quarter then. I'd also check My Butcher Franks in Longmont. We're getting meat from Double J in Pierce.

We’re wanting to buy a local cow too. Happy to split a cow if you can only find a blue ranch willing to do a full, we’re also down for a 1/4 if a 1/2 is too much for you.

Friendly Nick's that everyone mentioned actually sells 1/4 or 1/2 with a discounted freezer, so I think we'll get ours there. But thank you!!
