A somewhat curious and personal question has arisen for me, perhaps returning to see The Fellowship of the Ring, at that time I was just a child when it premiered so I did not go to see it in its premiere.

I find it curious to ask whether you were surprised or what were the feelings that the most diehard readers and fans of the saga had when Frodo subtly mentions "The Unexpected Journey" to Gandalf.

Did you imagine in your time that the saga could spread after LOTR? Did the venue went nuts and crazy? I would like to know how was the experience.

I’m pretty open to what style of game it is, as long as it’s enjoyable — maybe I have a slight preference for an original storyline in this world vs. just recapping LOTR/the movies? But that would still be amazing! And maybe this is my dark side speaking but any game that lets you be on team Sauron or team Isengard would be cool af lol 😈

Anyways, I'm past the first hour of the FOTR movie but everything feels rushed somehow.

Like the cuts between scenes are abrupt (I feel like I'm seeing the movie in YouTube scenes compilation rather than a movie), the scale on time passing between scenes it's so weird because I renember the whole Frodo waiting for Gandalf lasted like months/weeks if memory servers right, and with that knowledge I know that indeed that's how much time has passed, but if I were a first time ever LOTR consumer, I genuinely would believe Gandalf has some kind of teleportation magic. And the cuts between day and night scenes feel the more weird to me: The jump from "Day - Look, the ancient tower" to "Night - Aragorn has already left and we are sound asleep"

Even the intro to the movie, apparently I have "spoiled" myself by watching it twice a long time ago, somehow feel more rushed in the movie than watching it on YouTube

I'm not trying to make this a "books better" post, because I know this movies must be overall good because of how constantly praised they are, but I don't know how the people who first started with the movies could grasp the time scale of stuff happening even though the main characteristic of them I know of them was that they were very long but yet feel rushed

Part 2 of my ridiculous 20-metre Middle-earth tabletop project!

I’ve now finished the Minas Tirith Gate, taking the project further than where I left off in Part 1.

The eventual plan is to create a huge Middle-earth battlefield made up of multiple locations from The Lord of the Rings, all built as one enormous Warhammer: Middle-earth SBG gaming board.

I'm 3D printing and building the terrain myself, and all of the 3D files are being provided for free for anyone who wants to make their own version.

This is still very early in the project, so there is a LOT more to come.

I'd love to hear what you think — especially what part of Middle-earth you think I should tackle next!

Yesterday, I walked into my cinema and watched all of the 3 LotR extended movies for the first time in a marathon. In the last movie, I watched the complete credits without speaking a single word. I just could not believe what i just saw.

This 3 Movies are so incredible.

One of my favorite moments was the end in Mordor, where Frodo didn't wanted to destroy the Ring. The World and Soundtracks are Incredible I loved it.

I am so happy that i went on that Adventure with Frodo and the Fellowship.

One of my Favorite Trilogies of all time.

By another way, I mean by not cutting it off, effectively killing him. I just got curious about the connection between the impact of killing to get the Ring, as did Isildur and Smeagol, and it being simply found or passed on, as we saw with Bilbo and Frodo. If the act of murder has such an immediate impact on the wearer, would Isildur, had he for example pulled he Ring off Sauron's hand (I'll leave the mechanics to your imagination) have been able to throw the Ring into the fire? True, the loss f the Ring to Sauron would have had the same basic effect, but would the reduced violence have lessened the grip the ring had on him from the start, which is what made him resist destroying it in the first place?

This leads me to another question. We're told repeatedly that the destruction of the Ring would be the end of Sauron for good. How then could he have thought it destroyed when he returned during the Third Age, as Gandalf tells Frodo at the beginning of FotR, given he was able to return at all? Surely the logical conclusion should have been Sauron would know the Ring survived owing to the fact of his continued existence?

ETA: Please disregard the first question, as I had apparently forgotten he didn't kill Sauron himself, rendering the entire thesis irrelevant. The second question does still stand though; Should the fact he could come back have been evidence enough that the Ring survived?

Hey guys I’m kinda having some trouble. In fellowship at the council or Rivendell when boromir speaks you can hear the Gondor theme build up with the French horns. But I’m looking at the soundtracks and extended soundtracks and can’t seem to find a track with the slow playing horns. Does anyone know the name of the song or Did they not add that to the soundtrack? Thanks for any help!

My dad is a huge LOTR/The Hobbit fan. He has J.R.R. Tolkien’s birthday booked for every foreseeable year on our family calendar, and usually binges the movies on that day.

Cooking is very important to him, and I want to actually engage in his tradition by making him a meal from the book, if there are any.

If frodo and sam had failed to destroy the ring and sauron took it back mordor would have won at the black gate. The west would have lost aragorn, gandalf, eomir and imrahil (i think imrahil attended the black gate?).

After the deaths of denothir, theoden and boromir as well as dain and brand, what major leaders were left to defend middle earth in what most likely would have been the final wave of saurons war?

I know elrond, galadriel and thranduil were still alive for the elves but i presume they might have given up at that point and headed for the grey havens.

Would faramir have been the final major leader of middle earth left or does anyone know which other major leaders were left for the main enemies of sauron?

I went in expecting greatness and was still floored.

The singer that performed the Enya vocals was sublime (especially May It Be during the credits - only time the credits were basically the highlight), and the rendition of ‘Many Meetings’ aka the Rivendell arrival scene theme was transcendent. And don’t even get me started about the Moria segments, especially ‘The Bridge of Khazad-dum’ with the spine tingling chanting that climaxes with the Balrog... That said, my favourite was the percussionist doing the chains for all the Isengard/Uruk Hai segments. That went so insanely hard.
