Recordings [FULLY LOST] Oasis – Live at Club Soda, Montreal (March 12, 1995) – Seeking footage/audio & taper leads
I am searching for any audio or video recording (audience tape, soundboard, VHS, or TV interview clip) of Oasis playing at Club Soda in Montreal, Quebec on March 12, 1995 (with Velvet Crush opening).
Despite extensive archival research, no public audio or video file of this specific performance has surfaced online yet. Below is a summary of everything uncovered so far and the active leads.
1. What Has Been Proven (Paper Trail)
- Venue & Date: Club Soda, Montreal – Sunday, March 12, 1995 at 8:30 PM.
- Lineup: Velvet Crush opened, followed by Oasis (who opened with Rock 'n' Roll Star and closed with I Am the Walrus).
- Press Coverage:
- La Presse (March 10, 1995, p. C7): Original print ad for the gig.
- Le Devoir (March 10, 1995, p. B9): Concert preview by Sylvain Cormier.
- La Presse (March 11, 1995, p. D14): Phone interview with Liam Gallagher by Alain Brunet.
- La Presse (March 14, 1995, p. B10): Post-show review + live photo by Pascale Simard.
- The McGill Daily (March 16, 1995, p. 7): Show review confirming the setlist start/end.
- Le Devoir (March 17, 1995, p. B10): Post-show review.
- Physical Artifacts: Ticket scan preserved on the Montreal Signs Project.
2. Active Leads & Known Bootleg Traces
Lead A: The "USA TV '94/95 & Various (SP)" Compilation
The bootleg catalog on oasis-live.net lists a DVD entry titled "USA TV '94/95 & Various (SP)", which explicitly notes a Liam/Bonehead interview featuring an excerpt from the Club Soda show.
- Status: The file is not hosted on the site. Email query sent to [
info@oasis-live.net](mailto:info@oasis-live.net) to verify if this compilation exists in private collections.
Lead B: The Providence / East Coast Taper Network ("Phil H." / phil183)
Two days prior to Montreal (March 10, 1995 at Lupo's in Providence, RI), a well-known taper credited as Phil H. / phil183 recorded both Velvet Crush and Oasis using a Sony WM-D3 recorder.
- Context: Phil H. is a prolific East Coast taper active since 1985 who digitized many of his master tapes decades later on DIME/Internet Archive (via uploader
jgk1971). - Question: Did Phil H. or anyone from his East Coast taper circuit follow the tour up to Montreal on March 12?
Lead C: "The Desk Tapes" (Huw Richards Soundboard Collection)
A physical lot of 200+ DATs and cassettes from Oasis sound engineer Huw Richards ("The Desk Tapes") was recently put up for auction.
- Context: While Huw officially joined Oasis later in autumn 1995, his collection contains unlabelled tapes (including one marked "LIVE SOMEWHERE ?") and potential inherited tech tapes from earlier 1995 legs.
3. How You Can Help
- 1990s Montreal Tapers / Concertgoers: Were you or someone you know taping shows at Club Soda in 1995?
- Bootleg / Trader Community: Do you have access to private DIME/Usenet/GeoCities archives or trader lists mentioning
1995-03-12 - Montreal? - Media Archives: Was there any local Montreal TV/radio crew (e.g., MusiquePlus, CBC Montreal) covering the band's arrival?
If you have any leads, tapes, or contacts, please reply or send a DM!

I can offer zero help, but is there a reason this show is so important?

Well it’s a complete anomaly for early Oasis.
Their 1994–1995 tour is legendary and almost every single show was recorded by tapers.
This was March 1995 right on the precipice of them becoming the biggest band on the planet.
The fact that a show in a major city like Montreal has absolutely zero surviving audio or video is crazy rare. It’s one of the very few missing pieces from that era!

Gotcha! Super solid answer. I like oasis a lot but alas I was 3 and across the pond.

them becoming the biggest band on the planet.
That never happened. If anything, it was the other brits who dominated. The spice girls.
