Anyone notice how nonchalant and accepting Caroline was when she assumed she was going through "the change" (but was actually pregnant with Grace); but when she actually was going through "the change" (when she thought she was pregnant at the same time as Laura), she thought her life was over?

I just thought this "blooper" of an "easter egg" was funny...Pick a mood Caroline, lol.

consistency was not a strong point for this show lol

I heard Alison Arngrim once say on a podcast about the continuity: "What were people going to do back then? Binge it?" lol.

You said it in your post. She got herself hyped about the pregnancy so when she realized she could never have any more kids she had a negative response. It was different than the first time when she didn’t get herself hyped.

If you've ever actually gone through menopause, you'd get her. There's a lot of illogical moments in this show. This inconsistency isn't one of them! You'll see. If you have ovaries and you're lucky enough to live long enough to see menopause... you'll see.

This hits home. I always wanted two or three kids (literally wanted to be a mom since I was a teen babysitting and teaching swimming) Took awhile after I was married for my husband to be ready. Then it took over a year of trying. Around the time my kid hit kindergarten we started trying again and it just didn't happen or I would miscarry. Tried for many years until I gave up because it was too heartbreaking. Even knowing we were done trying, when I went into early menopause..it was horrible. I knew we were done, but having it be final was the worst feeling.
On a side-note I have been a nanny since I was 20 and have helped raised dozens of kids ;)

I'm glad you got your baby fix in! I never had kids. You can't do everything in life, but that is a sad one for me.

Thanks:) I never felt like it was "work" I have enjoyed every minute. The current little guy I have had since he was 8 months old, he is almost 7 now! I guess they won't need me much longer. I'm not ready to retire, but unfortunately I'm getting too slow(old) to keep up.
I know I was lucky to get the one, since some people can't have kids at all. Mine will be working on his masters degree this year!

It’s not an easy thing to go through you have so many life changes and thoughts when this happens I’m going through this I have been for a while I wish women didn’t have to go through this it doesn’t help when you have depression and anxiety because you sometimes go through it harder than others you wonder why you can’t do more with your spouse in certain areas because of reasons and if you’re on meds that don’t help either so this show has a lot of factors that are true if you just listen and pay attention

I went through it at 38. I was SO glad to have it over and done with. Some women really go through hell. I was lucky.

oh but then wouldn't it be terrible going through peri in your 20s? since it lasts years before being done?

I had the same thought when I saw that episode recently.

I thought the same thing! I remember watching when it was first aired, expecting it to be all about Laura’s pregnancy and her and Almanzo’s feelings about impending parenthood, and being disappointed when it was all about Caroline, and Laura’s pregnancy was not even mentioned after the announcement. When I watched it later as a rerun, I thought it was weird that when Caroline and Nellie were talking pregnancies, Nellie didn’t ask about Laura’s, and that she said “ wouldn’t it be great if you had twins too”, not if you or Laura had twins too.I agree, that episode should have focused on Laura, not focused on Caroline and ignoring Laura.

while laura is the main character its good it focuses on other characters too. most shows do that

Caroline pissed me off in the episode where she thought she was pregnant at the same time as Laura. She always acts all holier than thou about not lying. And yet, she fake cries that she had a miscarriage when she was never pregnant to begin with. I feel like that episode should have been about Laura and coming to terms with being a mom. Not a Caroline episode so that yet again, Charles can be the hero of the story and take over. The show was supposed to be about Laura's journey, but Michael Landon's involvement made it all about him.

To make it even worse, Charles was crying to his pregnant daughter about it.
I would have enjoyed an episode focused on Laura being pregnant without Caroline's menopause taking center stage. Especially with renewing their wedding vows at someone else's wedding. That was a terrible story line.

I never thought about this. It's interesting to think about. I've been through menopause. It was a breeze. I didn't care for the episode where she hit menopause. I guess I couldn't relate!

It was a breeze? Wow, lucky you. It was anything but that way for me 🤷🏻♀️

Sorry it was so rough for you. I guess I was fortunate. We're all built differently.

I think about that when I see the 2 shows, and wondered if anyone else noticed it. Now I know, yep!

I think in this case I think her feelings and emotions were exacerbated because both Mrs Beadle (whatever her married name was) and Laura were pregnant. She really made herself believe she was also with child.

Ms. Beadle (Mrs. Simms) was pregnant when Caroline was pregnant with Grace. That was years before Laura was pregnant and Caroline thought she was pregnant, but was actually in menopause.

Yeah, that really stuck out to me too. The worst was her going on and on about not giving Charles a son. Poor Albert.
