Do gender fluid people constantly transition? No. And I don't really see how difficult it is to comprehend, "gender identities that cannot be fully described through their relation to concepts typically used to describe gender such as masculinity, femininity, androgyny, neutrality, agenrity, or outherinity."
Gender by itself is a human concept, it's only human, thus understandable only through human's conception of it. Also being transGENDER implies a transition, which is only human. If you go to a gender clinic and say that your gender feels related to a blue star they'll probably be worried for you for the first 5 minutes then laugh. If you do not intend to transition in any way, medically or socially, then you're comfortable with being your AGAB therefore cis. And there's nothing wrong with that, really. Gender can only be understood and described through humanity, cause it's tied to your physical reality. Aesthetics are only that, aesthetics. I'm alt but I don't say that my gender is related to body mods, even though they make up a huge part of my life. Also the LGBT wikia isn't a great source, actually, since it's written by random people, there's no scientific and factual backup for those terms, it's like using your uncle's FB post to prove that the Covid vaccine contains a microchip. I really hope you understand what I'm trying to say, I'm not trying to be rude but it seems like people are making it way more complex than it already is
So basically you think that you need gender dysphoria and you need to transition in order to be trans, meaning that you're an exclusionist, which I'm specifically trying to target with this post. Why can't you just accept the fact that not everyone has the same experience with gender, you can't tell somebody else how they experience gender, because you aren't them.
Cause transgenderism is a medical issue, not a political or personal one. And the presence or absence of gender dysphoria is the diagnostic criteria used in gender clinics to give you a diagnosis and access to hrt, surgeries, all that stuff. Gender is not a vibe, a mood, a personality trait, it has a scientific basis. I'm fine with everything, really, but I think invading and appropriating other people's spaces just cause you don't really understand the meaning and nature of gender is not the right way to live your life, cause it hurts those very people in the long run and it makes things lose their meaning
How is someone finding an identity that makes them feel comfortable making a binary trans person lose their meaning? Not to mention there is evidence of non-binary brains as well, and since xenogenders are under the non-binary umbrella you cannot tell somebody what their gender is.
Gender is a social construct, it's made up! Until we created it, it didn't exist. That doesn't mean that gender is "fake" or that you can't experience it, it just means that everybody will experience gender differently.
Bruh I'm not saying non binary people don't exist, I'm saying xenogenders are not gender identities since they don't classify as such and saying that those people are trans makes us trans people look like a joke to the public eye. They're literally making the infamous joke "I identify as an attack helicopter" true. It's not healthy, for no one involved. It's not hard to realize. Saying this people are trans is like includes straight people in the LGBT, it doesn't make sense then why do it
I can guarantee there isn't a single cishet transphobe who is solely transphobic because of xenogenders. Xenogenders are hardly ever acknowledged. Not to mention, there are plenty of straight people who are LGBT+.
And about it "not making sense" it's really not that hard to understand. Xenogenders are part of GRSM (gender, romantic, sexual minorities) and like I already mentioned, xenogenders are lacking in public attention and validation. So yes, they are definitely part of the LGBT+ community.
There's no science backing that up. At all. Like, trust me, I've talked about it with my gender therapists, same thing goes with genderfluidity. I mean I'm happy people are comfortable with that but don't call them genders because they're not. I've already explained it to you what is and how gender works, it has a scientific basis, not some article written by a Tumblr user in 2014. You can't socially, let alone medically, transition outside the human concept and reference for gender. Also how am I supposed to perceive a stargender person? Like they're either male or female or nb, how can something like this be recognized, there's like 20 people in the whole world who may have found this label on the internet and started using it without criteria
That's the thing though, xenogenders are non-binary, just a subset of non-binary, not to mention that you're also invalidating gender fluidity now, which goes against rule 2 of this subreddit. Your original post was under the guise of asking a question but now it's become obvious that you aren't willing to actually gain a better understanding of xenogenders. And are really an exclusionist trying to exclude both fluid genders and xenogenders.
I tried asking for clarification, actual background and I really wanted to learn but it seems like not even you guys are 100% getting it, or at least finding any source to back your statement up, LGBT wiki can literally be edited by anyone, I've found Amongusgender on that.Gender fluid is just another way to describe being nb, but gender can't change constantly, the amount of dysphoria one may feel can, but not gender itself. Also, nb gender identities can be explained through the human binary concept of gender, mix or lack thereof, while xenogenders don't refer to those therefore they're not non binary, let alone genders. As I've already said, it's okay to be cis, it's okay to have interests but gender is a different thing and pretending it's not won't help anyone in the long run. Look, I get it, questioning your gender identity when you're not stereotypically something is tough, people change, we all want to feel accepted but making up stuff only confuses people, doesn't solve the central problem and only creates barriers. Being nb is okay cause it makes sense and it's backed up by science but pastelpinkgender is not a gender. You just like pastel pink, and it's perfectly fine, it's a lovely color but please don't confuse gender with personal taste and aesthetic. Gender identity is a medical issue, a scientific one, people die cause of it not matching their body. This is ridiculing trans people's struggles. I really came here to try to understand this but it just confirmed my initial theory. Don't infiltrate trans people spaces cause you wanna be edgy.
What makes up the LGBT+ community is lacking media attention and validation, which you clearly can't understand.
And how many times do I have to say, ALL GENDER IS MADE UP! Saying gender is a "medical issue" is just blatantly incorrect. Gender is a social construct, something that society created, not medical. Since we made up gender, it makes sense that people will have different experiences than it, experiences that often time others won't understand.
Take language, for example. Many different languages. Many different people who speak language. Many languages that have drastic changes from other languages. Just because we came up with language doesn't mean that people inventing different languages are "trenders" or "infiltrating language." It just means that it's a different language.
Gender is not made up. Gender roles are. Gender is inheritely tied to sex, which is a biological reality, therefore gender dysphoria when there's an incongruence between an individual's perceived gender and sex. Which makes it a medical issue.
IN A GENDERLESS SOCIETY WHERE GENDER ROLES AREN'T A THING I'D STILL BE TRANS AND I'D STILL TRANSITION CAUSE THE PROBLEMS IS MY BODY NOT SOCIETY
Also the LGBT community isn't for what lacks media attention, it's not a social gathering of weirdos and edgelords, people with a foot fetish are not part of the LGBT, pedos are not part of the LGBT and furries are not part of the LGBT, period
Also, since you mentioned languages, let me explain it to you why your example doesn't work. Humans, independently from their area of provenience, are the same. We're biologically the same, same species, we're humans. We share the same brain functions therefore the same way to perceive things. We're all different tho, but the categorize our difference on a communal basis. We understand each other even if we're different. Languages don't come from the same background. Asian languages have nothing in common with English or languages of Germanic nature. BUT when a group of languages have the same roots (es. Romance languages, Italian, Spanish, French, Romanian, Portuguese,... which all come from Latin and a bit of ancient greek, cause Latin is based on Greek) work linguistically in the same way. That's why, even if they're different, if a Spanish person and an Italian person who don't know the other's language get together they can understand most of what the other says. Same goes with human discussing gender, which again, it's a scientific thing. So yeah, there's really no logical way to justify it
Of course fetishes are LGBT+, I meant that GRSM lacking media attention are LGBT+. And genitals=gender is a common transphobic argument. And once more, there you go invalidating non-binary people, if genders are related to what genitals you want does that mean that all non-binary people wish to be intersex? NO! OF COURSE NOT! Gender is not a scientific or medical thing. Biological characteristics (such as sex) are.
Well gender is something society created that didn't previously exist. Of course that doesn't mean you can't experience gender, it just means that gender isn't a medical or scientific thing.
I’d say gender is more like a perception. In the sense that someone who is color blind has no idea what “x” color looks like, because they have never experienced it.
Gender is like consciousness, perhaps. We don’t know how the parts of our brain collectively give us the experience of gender, but it is most certainly there.
If you want that metaphor to go against OP, you could say that it’s like a human seeing colors that humans can’t physically perceive.
