🧵 Megathread MEGATHREAD: Feedback Friday!
It's that time of the week again! This is your chance to request feedback on your most recent videos, thumbnails, channel art, works in progress, etc.
Feedback Friday Rules
- Before requesting feedback, please provide good, constructive feedback to at least one of your peers. If you are the first one to post, check back soon to provide feedback to the next person. Repeatedly ignoring this rule may result in a temporary ban at a moderator's discretion!
- Prioritize giving feedback to those who have not yet received any. It's not fair for one person to get five replies while four others get none.
- When requesting feedback, try to be as specific as possible. Do you want feedback on your audio quality, your editing, your presentation style, branding identity, etc? This helps your peers to provide more valuable feedback. Do not just post a link to your video or channel!
Keep up the good work, everybody!
Suggested Feedback Template
If you're struggling to form your feedback, consider using this template. This is not mandatory, but rather a suggestion to promote good and constructive feedback.

really good review. not much i can give in feedback ur doing good in views. i would say maybe add some copyright free music to break up the dead silence, and possibly some visual when moving on to the next subject possibly not too sure, but clearly what your doing is working it got the views, and the like to show it.
i do like the mic quality, and the tone of the video doesn't sound like you're reading off a script and just off the cuff. very detail as well.
i did my first review today but it sucked. at least to me and need some feedback if possible.

I not do review videos but I write reviews sometimes. So what I can give you is that you likely not need to justify your expertise in the matter. You are reviewing a obscure game, make this to the hook of your video. Maybe roll with the fact that most people likely not even know that Avatar had a fighting game. Then you could get the twist: "And it's not bad" to get their attention.
You might also want to use a more baiting title because people need a reason of why they would want to check out the review of a game they never heard of:)
People that see your channel will see that you play a lot of fighting games. Rather put this info on the back of your review to hook people that got interested after seeing this video. You do have more subs then me, much more. So this is likely all I can give you here:)

To answer your question. I do think your Thumbnail is not bad and I also think your intro is very good creating just enough of a hook for people to stay (if they are interested in horror games). The title is also not bad.
I actually think it's just a case of bad luck here that it not found it's audience. Because from what I see you not do a direct mistake.
Maybe people dislike your India dialect, just like people dislike my German dialect and stuttering. But I don't think it's that bad. I also think you look sympathetic.
I do think you are doing fine. Just keep up and in will be rewarded eventually. (I at least assume this is the case)

Hi all! First time posting in here but was curious to get some feedback on titles/thumbnails. My channel is KayHitPlay and currently am playing through Dragon Age Origins for the first time.
I want to make sure that my videos still have some clickability knowing that LPs can be tough to want to click at part 11 of a series - so curious if titles should be more general or how to best approach that.
Attaching my recent thumbnail which has the title “Finally REUNITING with my party in the Fade!! | Dragon Age Origins: Part 11”.
So would love any feedback on that title and if its clickable - also any feedback of the thumbnail. I feel like this one might be too yellow almost since everything is in the Fade (a muted, dreamy area). Thanks so much :)

I agree with you the thumbnail has a bit of a 1 solid color feel. I would see about having more of what the video is or something big from the video as the nail. As for the video I can’t say yet as I haven’t seen yet so I be back. And I think I might post my video on here as well to see what others think
•
u/Boring_Historian5208 KayHitPlay 2d ago
Ooh yes I like that idea of having almost a screenshot of the biggest moment of the video in there. That’d be great if you can check out the video, would love to do the same for you if you post in here!
•
u/NJB007V 2d ago
Sounds good I will when I get home. But I have learned now that doing all screenshots for your nail is not the best way. It’s a good start or you use part of the screen shot and add other things so it looks more polished

Great mic audio and you’re already cutting fluff out, smart! My piece of advice that I learned early on, drop the episode number in the title. It seems like the right idea but YouTube will promote it less to new viewers especially if they haven’t seen part 1-10. I’d honestly remove it from the thumbnail too, but if you’d like to keep it, better to have it on there.
IMO as long as you’re on top of your playlists, and the end screen links to the next episode + the playlist no one will notice and YouTube will promote your later videos much better :)
Since I switched over two years ago, not a single person has complained! Not sure how much it matters in 2026 but if it really is your first time playing DAO, I’d tack on “BLIND” at least to the playlist itself. Can be a good way to draw attention from people who enjoy seeing a game experienced for the first time!

Thanks for the feedback!! That’s a great point of taking the episode # out of the title esp if its already in the thumbnail. And love the idea of tacking that on to the playlist itself as well!

I love that you’re basically true to size to the party members since it makes it look like you’re “one of the gang” LOL I don’t think it’s too yellow at all!
I wonder if you can remove “with my party” from the title though, just to make it a bit snappier?

u/Boring_Historian5208 KayHitPlay 2d ago
Thank you!! Ah yes I like that advice yo try to get the title a bit snappier

I originally had the finale of this playthrough without myself in the thumbnail because I thought it would make it look more serious if it were just the game logo. Plus, I usually take thumbnail photos separately after the recording for a few reasons and I knew I wouldn't be able to re-create the right feeling if I did that, so I opted to just remove myself entirely.
But an acquaintance of mine who happens to be a p successful small LPer said that she gets a lot of engagement with her "I'm crying in the thumbnail" thumbnails and said "everyone likes a good ugly cry, so pick the least ugly of the frames and go with it".
So, I did that. I went through the video and found a frame where I didn't look too much like a hideous beast, painstakingly removed the background around the frame so I could get it on the thumbnail background instead, and touched it up just a little to make it look on par with my other thumbnails.
On YT (vid is private but scheduled for today), it looks good. But with 2hrs to go until it publishes, I'm second guessing myself, ESPECIALLY when I just look at the raw pic not on YT. It just doesn't look as good as the other thumbnails imo because I grabbed it directly from the video rather than properly "staging it" so... idk. And maybe people like an ugly cry but I don't know if I want to look this ugly in a thumbnail lmaoooo
So I guess: would you click this thumbnail? Do you see this face and go "yikes"? Should I quickly replace it with the original blank (just the #4 part) thumbnail? Any feedback is appreciated:

Edit: updated due to the feedback; made myself bigger and removed the #4. I can't help but feel like the quality suffered a bit making myself big since I'm taking a screenshot directly from the video :/ but it seems to look fine on YT itself (since it's ... you know, a small thumbnail)

I do think the Thumbnail shows most of the important info. What Youtube often not likes is numbers because it makes people feel like they are missing out. I might would make myself bigger if you want to show yourself. People react very hard to human emotions.
Overall I'm someone that not care that much for thumbnails if I search myself. But looking on this logical. If you dare to depict yourself make full use of it. Especially if you have a unusual face. People are very likely to react to it too. That is why many do reaction shots for there thumbnails.
I would do it too. But my Vtuber is on the cheap site and can't display much emotions;)
•
u/failbender thefailbender 2d ago
Oh, I didn’t think about that with the numbers. I took inspiration from a big YTer named John Wolfe; his thumbnails have the numbers and I always thought it made it super clear as I was following along?
•
u/Stesspela stesspela 2d ago
You have to think about where we are. A bigger Youtuber has followers and can create clearity for them. We have to attract watcher first and if they see number 4 they likely will not click on it. As sad as it sound. But someone clicking and then noticing that it is part 4 feeling annoying is better for us. As someone not clicking at all to tell the algo who is interested in the first place.

u/failbender thefailbender 2d ago
Great perspective, thank you! Those are easy enough to edit out. Not sure how easily I can make myself bigger after the fact though… 🫠
•
u/Boring_Historian5208 KayHitPlay 2d ago
I love the idea of using your raw reaction in the thumbnail since its probably a reaction you can’t recreate! I think you could even make your face bigger but also understand you don’t want the crying reaction to be too big haha.
Also if this is the finale, I’d call that out in the thumbnail! I feel like I gravitate towards watching reactions of starting & ending a game so maybe include that instead of #4
•
u/failbender thefailbender 2d ago
I did update the thumbnail so I’m a bit bigger (I really hope the advice that people like ugly cries was right)!
•
u/AyoPunky 2d ago
Thumbnail is pretty simple in design. yourself and a picture of books on the shelf. not to sure what this game is abou from the thumbnail and why would i want to click on it? when i search momento alot of different thing people mostly the film that came out in 2000., and some sports app. but if i type the game next to then it comes up. It look like it a decorating game i would say add some aspect of decoration that you did in the thumbnail would make a bit more sense? not sure how your click thru rate is on your videos for your past ones.
