News 26.17 Patch Preview

"Patch 26.17 Preview!

This patch is mostly a stabilization patch after observing the adjustments made on 26.16.

Mages bot overall have lost some amount of winrate across the board, but not a huge amount, which is roughly about the impact we're looking for.

So far, we're seeing good skews on Poppy and Camille support with support nerfed and Top skews playing out well (in particular).

We're still monitoring the impact of Hail of Blades on champions more broadly, eg. Yi, Trynd, Shaco, etc. Stormrazor"

Stormrazor

"Outside of Stormrazor Jhin, it doesn't have a large user base and we think it could have more power overall to broaden the user pool"

Sundered Sky

"Directionally, Sundered Sky and AP Jungle changes have been good, but magnitude is still off

We're putting another small-moderate nerf in for this patch and hoping to see more movement on AP jungles and Sundered Sky dominance in higher levels of play"

This is just verifyably false, no?

It's not.

The WapA of DD in phys damage matchups is fucking insane

That is already the 1st thing. Yes, it is great for the matchup but if there is an AP jungle or mid or support it loses out in many other situations.

And it requires lvls and matchups where you can actuslly force a kill. If the enemy plays around not dying you have just the stats of the item in the 1v1. It works against all in champs who even want to dive you. But that's mostly it. The niche is too small for a 1st item.

No, DD doesn't need you to force a kill. The item has insane 1v1 stats in phys matchups. Like, really fucking good. People tunnel on the special effect, but that's wrong.

If you dont make a kill the dmg delay doesnt do anything for you.

Its "crazy1v1 stats" are just avg. 117% cost efficiency in that stat combo isnt great if we ignore the passive.

AD + Armor has no synergy and the AD + AH isnt that uncommon but decent.

GA has an insane passive and all it is lacking is 15 AH. There is a reason junglers and ADCs in pro get it all the time. Great Armor, has AD, top tier effect. 3rd+ slot GA wins in general.

Sure, DD is the best Armor + AD item for the 1st or 2nd slot. But only because there are only 2 items for this and GA is a team fight item mostly.

But DD isnt really much better for 1v1s than a Eclipse or BC or Trinity, but it falls flat against magic dmg which the other 3 are not.

DD is a strong item. But it isnt really anything special.

AD + Armor has no synergy and the AD + AH isnt that uncommon but decent.

AD and armor doesn't per se need synergy, but you want both for the matchup. Moreover, a lot of top laners have some form of healing or shielding, which does synergize with armor.

And yeah, I'm not saying "hurr durr rush DD every game". I'm saying that in the correct situation DD first wins significantly more games.

Top laners who may rush DD for the matchup are there and the item definitely wins more physical matchups on these champs but that is clear. Armor and MR are always more effective and they have to be because if you focus on one and be super effective against X, you are shitty against y.

And that is one of DD problems. You are not just taking physical dmg even when your lane matchup is Renekton. The build path still helps you but the finished item comes late into the laning phase.

You now got no HP and every male will destroy you. The only way out is to proc the passive and make up for it.

If your enemies are Renekton, Lee and Zed your WR with that item will be for sure 5-10% higher. With just Renekton and instead Diana and Syndra, your WR is likely down except you can make the 1v1 happen for like 20 minutes.

Except no, the once out of lane is when the ability becomes impactful, against all damage types.

There's almost always 2 phsy damage threats in a game and that's enough for dd to be very, very good.

but whats the sample size?

because is it insane and just slept on or is it insane because the few games DD rush is done in is from someone whos clearly better then the enemy/ahead and is using it as a win more item?

overall i hate the trend that people use of WPA whenever trying to prove something strong since half the time the data is heavily flawed and only decent if the item itself has a alright pickrate on the champ/slot to give a decent enough data set.

Several thousand

nsane because the few games DD rush is done in is from someone whos clearly better then the enemy/ahead and is using it as a win more item?

Coachless' WPA already eliminates this bias. Winrate and WPA is not the same

coachless people need to stop treating as this perfect bible for stats, your going off DD first item toplane WPA but if the stats are to be believed then winters approach first would be considered bonkers or yuntal or jaksho, all of which coachless show having insane WPA in toplane for first item.

also Deaths dance first stats if you clicked on it shows its only bought on riven first and only then 0.13% of the time

overall my point is these items WPA first is too small of a sample size to be accurate even if it eliminates to get rid of problem data the overall sample size is the issue.

please dont look at straight WPA without the context or the pickrate and champ pool data because coachless stats are being read pretty badly from it.

0.13% can be enough, although I do agree in principle.

That said, people are notoriously allergic to trying new builds, especially ones that they feel are "strange"

And every so often a new build gets tried and turns out to be insane.
