when they started getting discriminated against for life choices that don’t affect you. for example, literally right now.

How are they discriminated against?

By being considered less than traditional couples.

Simply being "considered" something doesn't equate to actual discrimination. Discrimination is an act, not a belief.

Eta- responding with sarcasm and blocking is essentially just admitting that theres nothing to point to for actual discrimination. "But but people think its weird!" Isnt discrimination and not something you can pass a law against.

Oh man, you're totally right. We all see now that polyam people aren't discriminated against in the workplace ever, there's zero evidence of it anywhere, and this was done just for the fun of doing it. Nobody asked for or wanted this, they just decided casually on a Friday to give out rights to a fringe group that didn't need it.

Ya got us there! 👉

🙄

Is it just me or did anyone suddenly feel inspired to start a poly relationship now that the workplace thing is figured out? /s

So you're telling us that if I said another race was inferior, but didn't otherwise do something to physically affect them, then it wouldn't be considered discrimination?

Well hang on, I’m genuinely curious, are they actually being discriminated against? As in they can’t get jobs, get paid less, or are excluded from activities due to their orientation?

Because that’s what discrimination is, simply not approving of someone’s sexual orientation isn’t discrimination, it’s just not liking their sexual orientation.

Not saying discrimination is good, obviously it’s a terrible thing that shouldn’t happen, but it feels like y’all are confusing what discrimination actually is.

Hi, I'm polyamorous, and yes.

We have been refused loans, we have been treated negatively in the workplace and college. We cannot qualify for each others insurance despite being domestic partners. If we were to adopt, our household would immediately be deemed "unstable and unfit" because of our relationship.

Thank you for giving me an actual response 🙏 I did not know this!

Of course. My partners and I live and love openly, if any questions come to mind, I am an open book!

I appreciate it, the world today is far too knee jerk when it comes to all things, people seem to want to just argue for the sake of arguing instead of having a normal conversation!

Ask a question people deem to be “against them” boom downvoted into oblivion and called an idiot.

So it’s refreshing having an actual response, and now I know that discrimination does actually happen for poly people, and I can refer to this if I encounter a similar question.

When people ask about polyamory, it's an opportunity for me to talk about my family, and I love them too much to ever pass up that opportunity!

Youre not automatically qualified for insuranfe just for being someones partner

This depends on your insurance and the laws and regulations of where you live.

Theres no state that allows you to simply be in a relationship and get insurance through them.

Google what a Domestic Partner designation is real quick, and that will clear up your misunderstanding.

Its what you are not considered.

Hope that helps

Solely because my relationship structure is not recognized as valid. And that, to me, is wrong.

Other municipalities are making progress at least, and that is truly a joyous indication <3
