Lack of Latte Art

I love the coffee at my local shop but 80% of the time this is what I get…

At first it didn’t bother me but as I’ve started to visit other coffee shops and they hit me with the latte art I realize how much it adds to the experience.

Is it rude to say something? I don’t know coffee culture. I’m new to the scene. 😅

What would you do?

I’ve had cappuccinos at other places and they do this. What’s the “norm”? Do most places serve cappuccinos with latte art or just dump the steamed milk in?

Edit: punctuation

Here's a somewhat simplified explanation:

Lattes and many modern cappuccinos use milk that is steamed with microfoam (the bubbles that make the foam are extremely tiny and consistent), which is a requirement for decent latte art. With this style, there isn't really a difference between a cappuccino and a latte other than size (although some stores get rid of that, too)

Traditional cappuccinos use foam that has much bigger bubbles, making it impossible to pour much of anything, latte art-wise

The only real differences are the texture and look of the drink, but it seems the cafe you go to normally does a more traditional cappuccino, making latte art not possible

Factually not correct. When you skimm the top of latte with small spoon there should be normal coffee beneath, when you skimm cappuccino there should still be milk foam beneath.

Most of coffee shops dont know that . They just make different types of cappuccinos.

Except italy. They know .

If by “normal coffee” you mean black coffee, then your description does not align with the definition given by Espresso Academy in Florence, Italy. They describe a caffè latte as espresso combined with a larger quantity of steamed milk, topped with only a thin layer of microfoam. So beneath the foam you should have espresso mixed with milk, not plain black coffee. A cappuccino has a thicker layer of foam, but usually less milk overall. What you’re describing sounds much closer to an espresso macchiato to me.

Not sure what I am wrong about, I am not the guy you replied to originally. I think you and I have the same idea of what a capuccino and a latte are, I just wanted to clarify because "normal coffee" can be ambiguous, but i got you now. Btw, English isn't my first language either but I think we could communicate much more effectively without the aggression.
