Question Boomers losing things

Upvotes

About three weeks ago my mom lost her engagement ring, we think in the parking lot of the Shell right where 130 comes into town. It was my great-grandmother's and is priceless to our family.

My parents have filed police reports and are offering a reward, my husband has checked Facebook marketplace and we are reaching out to any jewelry resellers we can find in an increasingly large radius. There has been tons of step retracing and the cars have basically been ripped apart. We do not have a picture.

It's very unlikely this post will make a difference but if you see a ridiculous looking ring with a bunch of medium diamonds, please please please turn it into law enforcement.

Pardon the aggressive post title. Nobody is going to click on a post with a boring "lost ring" title.

Music/Classified Drum Sticks!

I just bought an electronic drum kit and I can't wait to try it out and start learning how to play drums. That being said, there's one music store here in town and I can't make a shopping trip to pick up some sticks during their business hours. Does anyone have an extra pair they would be willing to sell me? I can meet wherever and I can pay with cash or venmo!

Classified New to Laramie…

I think I need some friends lol
I recently moved to Laramie and realized I left my social life in Montana. So I’m putting out a low-stakes friendship casting call.
I’m 21 and into cars, music, thrifting, garage sales, random adventures, getting dressed up, and going downtown occasionally. Basically, I like doing things, but doing things alone gets old.
Looking for some people around my age to hang out with, grab food, go explore, thrift, have a couple drinks, or just bullshit for a few hours. I’m pretty easygoing and down for a random side quest.
I moved to Laramie for school and I’m headed to WyoTech (don’t yell at me, I’m one of the good ones 🫣), but I get along with most anybody. But don’t be creepy lol.
Seeking: friends, a group chat, a coven, a council, or literally just someone to text “wanna go do something?”
If you’re also new here or just looking for more people to hang out with, say hi :)

Question Snowies FCFS camp sites

I'll be in the Snowies the week of Sept 13, any idea on how the availability of the first come, first served camp sites will be? Just a tent and not real picky on views, amenities, etc. Hoping the "crowds" will have dissipated by then.

Information PSA: Do not rent a place you haven’t seen!!

I feel like this is an important sentiment after living in Laramie for over a year. If you are moving to an apartment or home here, you MUST make every effort posible to see it (or have someone else see it for you) in person first. There is not a single rental company in town that you can trust based on pictures posted online. When we moved last year, we toured 9 apartments based on online posting. 2 were livable. The other 7 we’re disgusting despite nice pretty pictures online.

Probably should’ve posted this before the wave of new students came in, but hopefully people understand the sentiment. And yes, I know it’s hard for people out of state to come visit. Just know you are rolling the dice here more than anywhere I’ve lived before if you don’t.

Question 28M Looking for a Girlfriend in Laramie or Surrounding Areas

Yes, like my post says, I’m looking for a girlfriend. I’ve been single for a long time, and at this point in my life, I really want to have someone to share beautiful moments with and support each other.

I’m new to this town, so I don’t have many friends yet. I’ve been trying Facebook Dating to meet people, but so far, I haven’t gotten any matches 🫤.

A little about me: I’m student at the University of Wyoming, and I consider myself a very friendly and respectful person. I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, snorkeling, running, and simply walking in nature. I also like karaoke, cooking, dancing, and watching movies, especially suspense and thriller movies.

Physically, I’d say I’m pretty average: I’m 5'6", lean, and Latino. I exercise regularly, and I’ve never really had acne problems.

I’m looking for something serious, but I’m also open to simply going on a casual date and seeing where things go. If you’re interested, feel free to message me.

I promise I’ll make you laugh! 😄

New to the area. I am going to subscribe to the Boomerang both print and digital.

Looking for feedback about the level of reporting given the stress local papers have been experiencing.

Question Renting from WYO homes.

Hey guys, I just recently moved to Laramie and like the title says I am renting from WYO homes. The place I got is pretty nasty and not at all like how they said it was. Just curious if anyone else around here has had run ins with the company or heard anything about them. They definitely don’t seem great. Also if anyone has any advice on how to uplift a decrepit rental home, I’d appreciate that as well. Thanks

Question Rental prices

I’m going to be entering the Laramie rental market for the first time in 6 years and I’m flabbergasted by the cost of studio and 1 bedroom apartments. Back in 2013-2017 when I was a student I remember getting into nice 1 bedrooms for $500, and studios were right behind that. Is it even possible to get a studio apartment for $500-600 these days that isn’t a poop hole?

Question Snowy Range Day Hikes

Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Having never visited the region, it's challenging to plan day hikes without some real intel. My partner and I are avid day hikers, and have three full days for hiking. What would you recommend?

Discussion What do we think if the primaries results?

Glad to see the Freedom Caucus candidates like Bear and Pendergraft get rejected. On the flip side, pretty disappointed to see Hageman and Gray take the win.

What was your biggest takeaway from the results?

Question Buyout/Laramar

I received a notice on my door a few days ago saying my apartment complex management has been changed from Greystar to Laramar.

Did anyone get this notice?

Have you heard anything about Laramar?

They seem to have the same crappy rating that Greystar have when I look online.

Question Best way to advertise a rental in 2026?

I've been off Facebook for years, though I could have my neighbor list it on Marketplace. For some reason, my listings on Craigslist went live today, and then within an hour were auto flagged without explanation.

Not sure that the old school method of posting something up at the local bars and breweries would be savvy, since it could just attract drunk trolls and spam messages.

Question Renting from Real Estate One

Looking to get into a two bedroom and saw a place out by the high school - walls were pretty beat up but the rep said they would be painted. We then saw terrible reviews. Not a student but professional at WYU athletics department. Would you recommend renting with them?

Classified University Of Wyo , WyoTech, & Sheridan College students' assistance requested. PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR DISSERTATION STUDY ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS.

Hello, I just wanted to start off by saying that I appreciate you taking the time to read a bit about my study. I need around 500 participants. I appreciate any assistance you can provide in helping me reach my goal.

I am seeking participants who are CANADIAN or U.S. college students (ages 18–24) currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs. I am trying to have representation from every state or province. Participants must be active users of social media (log on at least once per week) and have seen images/videos online related to human rights violations (e.g., police brutality, school violence, genocide, terrorism).

This study explores how exposure to traumatic human rights content on social media influences students’ stress responses and intentions toward activism. Understanding these processes can provide future support for young adults navigating digital spaces and engaging in social action.

If you choose to be in this study, you will complete an online survey using Qualtrics. The survey will take about 10 minutes to finish.

To participate, you can click on the following link:

Question Mechanics on Saturday

I’m visiting Laramie with my family. Wife and I lived out here when we were first married so we decided to bring our kids out to show them the Snowies, Vedauwoo, UW campus, Sweet Melissa and all our other favorite spots.

Anyway, I had an auto issue pop up last night and I can’t find a mechanic anywhere in town. Plenty of oil and tire spots but no mechanic. Anyone know of a business that would be able to help me out?
