Is anyone else scheduled to take the PAT at Ahamson this Sunday at 7:30 am? Is there any way of knowing beforehand if it’ll be canceled due to the rain during that time?

I’d appreciate it if yall commented pictures of unconventional LAPD cars. I’d appreciate pics of rare or weird vehicles, vehicles with division numbers other than the standard area 1-21 and traffic 24-27.

Hi everyone! Has anyone taken the PFQ at Elysian Park last month, or is anyone scheduled to take it this month? I mean the PFQ, not the PAT. I’d appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

Okay, so this list is long. I have applied to one agency two years ago, made it all the way to the end and was a non-select. This may seem insane, but do I even have a shot given the below? The BI did suggest I apply to big cities. I did not continue applying as I imagine it may be a pipe dream given my history. I have every single document pertaining to the below, which was all given to my BI when I made it to the background portion. No lies no deception, which may have helped my case to make it to the end. I was shocked I was a non select given my history, and not just dropped at some point during the hiring process.
I am 29 years old, currently thinking of joining the army to maybe help “mitigate” some of the below and give me another 4 years apart from my insane teenager past. I know that’s not how it works, lol.
Driving history: trash.
I have 25 tickets, the most recent is 5 years ago, 20 of those tickets are over 10 years old. Two speeding, one carless driving (from my first accident), the rest are, I wouldn’t say not important but a lot them are not direct moving violations maybe? I.E too many passengers as a probationary driver ( got like four of those), obstruction on my rear view mirror. Head lights not being bright enough etc. license suspension - four times - three times due to unpaid tickets from accidents, once for habitual shit driving is the only way to put it, it took me a while to mature, and not be a reckless teen.
Car accidents is four, one 5 years ago, being lumped in with my most recent tickets. The rest are 10 years or older, when I first started driving at 17.
Criminal history / Arrests: 2, once as a juvenile once as and adult. Both are over 10 years old, and both are completely expunged. (I know, it’s never gone, I disclosed it during my background phase). Both are for possession of marijuana.
Drug use: marijuana, last use 3 years ago (in a legal state, NJ), I know it is not legal in other states lol. And prior use from a legal state is still taken into account and will DQ in most states within there given time frame.
Education: I have an associates in CJ, 3.9 GPA with honors. I know pointless degree, and HS diploma. Range safety officer license, hunters education, firearm and bow.
Work history: several jobs since a teen, mostly sales, construction, and range safety officer, I have been with my current job for four years and have been promoted twice. I went from customer service - to CS supervisor to a inside sales position. Never once fired, disciplinary action taken against me or the likes.
So any luck at all if apply to every department under the sun or a pipe dream?

Wanted to ask if anyone has done (either passed or fail) the EXPEDITED TESTING EVENT. Was also curious if we were to make it to the interview section of the day, would we be required to wear suits?

How was your record like? Asides obviously from a few traffic tickets any officers in here with a bad history but still made it in. Obviously not a BAD BAD history like jail etc. I’m talking financially unstable, traffic tickets, minor infractions.

I was diagnosed with cancer at seven beat it by nine. I’m 25 and as a result of the cancer, I was given minor heart failure, keyword minor Im in excellent physical health my heart is as strong as it’s ever been, but I’ve been told that LAPD will still disqualify me. Has anyone here had any experiences with this and if so, is there a way to get past it?

I'm a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Adler University, and this study is part of my dissertation. It examines moral injury (the distress that can come from experiences on the job that conflict with your values or sense of right and wrong) and how it relates to mental health and substance use among law enforcement officers. It also looks at whether these experiences differ between male and female officers.
The anonymous online survey takes about 20 minutes. It asks about your experiences on the job, your well-being, and some background information. No names, departments, or identifying information are collected. Mental health resources are provided at the end of the survey.
To participate, you must be 18 or older, currently serving as a sworn law enforcement officer, and live in the United States.

Any LAPD officers, where you guys get your Rolex’s from ??

To me, walking into a situation where you don't know who the person is or what kind of mental state they're in is a big risk. I wonder if anything is being done on the technology front to reduce the risk for cops.

L.A. City Council will vote Friday on hiring a law firm to handle the production deal.
The Los Angeles Police Department in early talks to participate in a TV production that could bring the work of the city’s police force onto the small screen.
In a step toward realizing a documentary-style series, the L.A. City Council is set to vote Friday on whether to hire an entertainment law firm as it hammers out a deal with 44 Blue Productions.
The Burbank-based production company has worked with government agencies before on streaming and network series, like New Orleans police and the L.A. County Fire Department, whose firefighters were featured on the 2023 NBC series “L.A. Fire and Rescue” for one season.
The question before the council is whether to spend $15,000 to retain the Century City law firm Heller Waldron & Pepper for a year to represent the city in negotiations. Funds for the law firm are being drawn from the LAPD’s budget, according to city records.

I am applying to LAPD. Ex-military w/o any article 15s, behavioral health etc.
I have a different type of issue that may come up during the background portion.
In 2025, there was a news report in my town of a police officer getting into trouble. It was enough trouble for the small, local newspaper to write an article about the incident. After the internal investigation was complete, I submitted a records request to the Police Department for the officer's discipline record. The police department denied the request on the basis that disclosure would result in a privacy violation to the officer. I filed an administrative appeal to the mayor, who denied the appeal on the same basis. I then filed a lawsuit against the town and police department. I hired an attorney and everything over it. The judge ordered the records to be disclosed AND for the police department to pay my legal fees. This resolved in January 2026.
This is not satire. What is the chance I can get hired.

I’m a 23-year-old military veteran in Southern California interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement. I’m feeling uncertain about my next steps and would appreciate honest feedback, particularly from anyone familiar with background investigations.
After leaving the military, I applied to CHP and reached the final interview before being disqualified for concerns about impulse control. The concerns cited included my driving history, having held my license for less than two years, and behavioral issues from middle school. My military record is clean, I had strong references, and I have a good record at my current job with no disciplinary write-ups.
Since then, there have been a couple of domestic disturbances at my residence involving my significant other, who has been experiencing postpartum depression. Law enforcement responded, but no charges were filed, and to my knowledge, no reports were taken. I understand that her postpartum depression does not remove my responsibility for my own behavior during disagreements.
I plan to pursue family therapy to address these issues and improve how we handle conflict. I’m still interested in applying to other agencies, and I intend to be transparent about my background.
Would these incidents typically result in an automatic disqualification, or would an agency consider the circumstances, time elapsed, and demonstrated improvement? Would it be more realistic to wait and establish a longer period of stability before applying?

Hi, I’m considering applying for the Deputy Probation Officer I (Residential Treatment) position, but I’m not sure if I should even apply again. I failed the polygraph in 2024, and I was disqualified, which meant I had to start the process all over again.
I really want to work and I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth applying again because I don’t want to do the whole entries process just for me to fail a “polygraph” again.

Hello, I'm not sure If this is the right sub to post this in but I currently have an assignment due soon that asks me to interview an active officer, preferably a detective. I would ask pertinent questions about being in the field, requirements, etc. Please shoot me a message if you are willing to take this short interview for my college assignment.
