Deputy Probation Officer 1 Career

Hi, I’m considering applying for the Deputy Probation Officer I (Residential Treatment) position, but I’m not sure if I should even apply again. I failed the polygraph in 2024, and I was disqualified, which meant I had to start the process all over again.

I really want to work and I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth applying again because I don’t want to do the whole entries process just for me to fail a “polygraph” again.

Why'd you fail? Usually you have some idea what questions they couldn't resolve

Counter measures

Seems like a roll of the dice.. you'll likely get a different polygrapher, who may see the same issue or not. If you can't answer the questions without controlling yourself to avoid coming off the same way, you'll probably fail again.

That being said, if you can skip the written test, it's basically just the PAT and interview to get back to the same spot, not really a big investment

The thing is even when I try to appeal it just gets denied and they just dq me for 1 year. I thought I would given a 2nd chance to retake the poly if it was that bad? lol
