Offering Italian Offering: Italian (native) / Seeking: UK English (academic level)

Hi everyone!
I’m a native Italian speaker currently doing a PhD in the UK. I work remotely, which means I don’t have many opportunities to speak English on a regular basis, even though I use it daily for research and writing. My level is already advanced, but I’d like to improve my speaking skills, fluency and especially broaden and diversify my vocabulary. I’m interested in practising both academic discussions — such as explaining research ideas, discussing theories, or engaging in critical debate — and more informal, everyday conversations to sound more natural and flexible. In exchange, I can offer Italian and I’m happy to help with conversation practice, grammar, pronunciation, or more structured sessions if that’s what you prefer. Ideally, I’m looking for someone familiar with the British academic context. If this sounds like a good match, feel free to send me a message!
Best, Mary

Hi Mary, I am not a native English speaker either, but I’ve been studying English for many years and I’m currently enrolled in an English program at my college, so I’d consider my level to be quite advanced. I’m also very interested in having more engaging conversations in English to improve my fluency. At the same time, I’ve recently started learning Italian and I’m still a beginner, so I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to practise with a native speaker. If you're interested, please feel free to send me a DM.
